Harley Quinn at the start was not that bad. It was just Harley and co's unhinged adventures, but then, when the original team was replaced, is when everything went to shit.
>But Harley's is literally just middle aged feminist woman dark fantasies fan fiction
Harley is definitely all these things, but Velma is the poster child of middle aged feminist woman dark fantasies fan fiction.
Actual best description of both. MWAS really lived off of lois and once the coom hype died everyone either left it or watched just to finish. I felt S1 of harley show was mid but if you weren't a comic fan it may have been an average adult cartoon. It felt like a show for people that hated comics but new the bare minimum more than a show for the fans. Then S2 came around and I realized the show was getting worse and more basic with each season. So yeah in the end a mid show that at least seems to care about it's audience and doesn't completely hate the source material is 100x better than, someone trying to make a fundamentally different show with a source they don't like and self inserting with a character.
Also I'm always so confused about harley and how she's perceived. I remember I read that one comic where a fat gay black girl helps harley and ivy get away from the cops or something because she was lgbt like her and she felt represented. Not because she was also a villian no she was a normal citizen and somehow wanted to help the two people that have been tearing her town apart. It was a comic that incapsulated the nonsense of modern harley simping and the show. You can't have her be the butthole, noncaring schizo, villian badass and the hero, moral high ground. It's too many contradictions.
Why the frick did they get middle aged officer worker sounding Chris Parnell as him? Hell, he looks and acts nothing like Deathstroke and in fact could have easily been a male Rose Wilson larping as his father. Craig Boone New Vegas voice or ironically Teen Titan's Robin would have fit so much better.
to be fair this is supposed to be a younger deathstroke before all that shit that turns him into the common deathstroke we know, him acting and sounding different would make sense.
I mean yeah it's still jarring but if the show lasts long enough to have him develop into normal deathstroke then we can see if it was even worth it starting him out like this.
>MAWS might as well be Supes and a bunch of Voltron OCs
I honestly don't see the problem with that, but that's maybe because I actually watched and liked Smallville, which is quite similar with the premise MAWS has.
You just switch the villians using the super advanced ancient kryptonian tech with the meteor freaks superpowered with kryptonite scraps.
Hell, they even both have an asian female love interest (Lana and Lois) and a black male best friend (Pete and Jimmy).
MAWS. It doesn't nail everything it sets out to do, but at least it's a sincere take on Superman. HQ is just cynical trash. It actually made me miss Young Justice.
MAWS sucks and doesn't want to be a Superman story. Harley Quinn might be SJW as hell, but its open announcement of not trying to be anything faithful to its source material makes me tolerate it more.
>MAWS sucks and doesn't want to be a Superman story.
MAWS is a better Superman story than whatever they are trying to do with the character in the movies, shows or the comics.
MawS is mostly ok. I think anons are giving it too much shit for not being S:tas, but it is a valid take as an AU, and it is honestly far more loyal than other takes Superman has received over the years like Lois and Clark, and Smallville. And for now it is probably still on the realm of things like The Batman and Brave and the Bold.
Harley I thought was passable in Season 1, but it has honestly just gotten steadily worse over time and I say that as someone who is usually not turned off by its politics or humor.
The problem is that Harley Quinn isn't really funny after season one which as a comedy is kind of a problem. MAWs has its issues but it is succeeding at what it is nominally trying to be.
Harley Quinn at the start was not that bad. It was just Harley and co's unhinged adventures, but then, when the original team was replaced, is when everything went to shit.
Harley Quinn was always painfully unfunny cancer since episode one, frick off with your revisionism.
>called the Krypton plot twist by the second episode >called the main enemy being Brainiac or Zod when there's a good chance we'll get both
God they just had to make a Superman show but they made Superman lite American shonen with cringe ass tech villains
>called the Krypton plot twist by the second episode
What plot twist?
>called the main enemy being Brainiac or Zod when there's a good chance we'll get both
Those are pretty much always Superman's first big hitters.
Brainiac because he usually infodumps him with alien knowledge, and Zod because he is usually the first one who is equal in his powers.
Superman is not muh, but I can see how someone else could like it.
I have absolutely no idea what's there to like about HQ:TAS. It's every terrible "adult" cartoon ever made wearing DC characters as a skinsuit. I have more respect for Paradise PD because at least it's honest about being utter shit from the start instead of lulling me into sense of security by pretending to be a comedy for DC fans.
I don't know which was the "better" show, but I was always intrigued by the alternative viewpoint in HQ.
I don't necessarily like seeing Batman as a pathetic little rich boy simping over Catwoman and accidentally reviving his parents as dangerous zombies, but it's a fresh perspective.
At the same time, the show doesn't go to total bitterness and anarchy. Batman may have weaknesses, but he honestly tries to make things better, at least as far as he can understand it. Harley herself has a streak of anarchy and sadism, but never entirely loses sympathy for other people.
Superman is just mid
But Harley's is literally just middle aged feminist woman dark fantasies fan fiction
There's no comparison between the two
Harley Quinn at the start was not that bad. It was just Harley and co's unhinged adventures, but then, when the original team was replaced, is when everything went to shit.

Like Twilight and Fifty Shades of Grey?

Superman by the fact that it wasn't just self-hating smut trash
>smut
It's not even good at that.
HQ because its doing new stuff and takes on characters
They had the right approach there.
The show was horny for its characters while still managing to make a decent show. That feels rare.
Harley Quinn had a watchable first season, but I refuse to watch bishonen Superman
The second season was alright, but the totally shat the bed.
>but I refuse to watch bishonen Superman
What about bishonen Deathstroke?
Why the frick did they get middle aged officer worker sounding Chris Parnell as him? Hell, he looks and acts nothing like Deathstroke and in fact could have easily been a male Rose Wilson larping as his father. Craig Boone New Vegas voice or ironically Teen Titan's Robin would have fit so much better.

I'm kind of okay with the idea of characters growing/developing/changing over time.

I mean yeah it's still jarring but if the show lasts long enough to have him develop into normal deathstroke then we can see if it was even worth it starting him out like this.
Unfortunately this.
Why not? You already have absolute gutter-tier excuse for standards if Harley Quinn series was ever watchable to you.
Cope
With what? Your garbage taste? I'm not the one who has terminal shit taste to find that shitty reddit-tier "comedy" "watchable".
It's easily Superman.
I liked MAWS so I gave Harley a chance because DC, but it was so fricking bad I shut it off after a few episodes. Nothing made me laugh wtf.
Harley's show, for all its flaws, at least feels like it's set in the DC universe
MAWS might as well be Supes and a bunch of Voltron OCs
>MAWS might as well be Supes and a bunch of Voltron OCs

Black person how?
MAWS. It doesn't nail everything it sets out to do, but at least it's a sincere take on Superman. HQ is just cynical trash. It actually made me miss Young Justice.
>It actually made me miss Young Justice.
Young Justice is already garbage, as well.
Superman is solid show even with it issues while Harley just seem hateful.
Like hell it is. It can't even get fricking Mxyzptlk right, and he's the easiest character in the world to nail down.
>It can't even get fricking Mxyzptlk right
Way better than his live action incarnations.
This isn't a "Let's bash Supergirl" thread.
Maws is literally core superman you moron
>MAWS sucks and doesn't want to be a Superman story.
Of course, because it's a Superboy story.
MAWS for nailing the sex appeal every single time
MawS is mostly ok. I think anons are giving it too much shit for not being S:tas, but it is a valid take as an AU, and it is honestly far more loyal than other takes Superman has received over the years like Lois and Clark, and Smallville. One Piece
MAWS is just kind of boring and mediocre.
Harley Quinn is almost Velma-tier cancer.
>Harley Quinn is almost Velma-tier cancer.
It's not that bad, but it's getting close.
Superman, and its not even close.
If I had to pick probably superman
Lesbian family guy vs the worst traits of anime in a show made by the worst artist I have ever seen
Studio Mir is not that bad.
The problem is that Harley Quinn isn't really funny after season one which as a comedy is kind of a problem. MAWs has its issues but it is succeeding at what it is nominally trying to be.
Harley Quinn was always painfully unfunny cancer since episode one, frick off with your revisionism.
The one that isnt gay or filled with psychopaths and sociopaths
Venture Bros. Now frick off.
Superman inspired lust in Cinemaphile and Harley inspired rage. That's an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object.
Kinda ironic, considering Harley was supposed to be the sexy show for adults while MAWS being the kiddie one.
Cinemaphile regularly gets triggered by one of the shows. Can you guess which one?
I just wish MAWS would drop the yumejoshi writing trope of trashing any female character that isn't the designated insert.
Harley Quinn show is just terribly unfunny shit, maws is an insult to DC characters.
The Harley Queen show shits on DC characters as hard as MAWS, if not more. Especially the bat family characters.
Whichever one that walked the joker like a dog
both are better than any anime in 2023
t. american
That's not a high bar.
>called the Krypton plot twist by the second episode
>called the main enemy being Brainiac or Zod when there's a good chance we'll get both
God they just had to make a Superman show but they made Superman lite American shonen with cringe ass tech villains

Those are pretty much always Superman's first big hitters.
Brainiac because he usually infodumps him with alien knowledge, and Zod because he is usually the first one who is equal in his powers.
Superman, obviously. Christ, how is that even a question?
Superman is not muh, but I can see how someone else could like it.
