I'd say this is also a pretty good contender for "Ow The Edge: The Comic"
Nah, there's weirder and edgier capeshit. Gail Simone did worse with Escape from Megalopolis, there's Wanted and Nemesis, or Marvel with Spider-Man Reign. The Boys is simply what happens when Garth Ennis isn't held back by the big two.

>Alan Moore's shit everywhere
I can almost hear the raping
I still say the Black Noir reveal was moronic as frick
Why do muppets fear anything with an edge?
The Boys has a few too many moments of sincerity and maturity to take the crown. Like not many but there's more comics that are simply gratuitous edge with nothing to actually say.
>The Boys has a few too many moments of sincerity and maturity to take the crown
Yeah. No way it even gets within Top 5 in a world where Mark Millar's Wanted is a thing.
Where does this rank in your mind? Because Utopian and his wife's deaths are so fricking edgy that when I read it I had to be rushed to the emergency room for all the blood I was losing
One of the best supersuits in cape fiction.
The weakest Superman expy in cape fiction.
Ehh, it's not bad, but isn't it basically just Miracleman's?
I can see why you say that but in my opinion no.
Wtf this isnt watchmen
How is Watchmen edgy outside of The Comedian
How does anyone over 15 like watchmen. Its crap. Ozymandias was right and did nothing wrong
Rorschach was right and did nothing wrong
His death always made me sad.

Who do you think comic books are meant for?
Yes OP… I watched the video essay too:
The Boys at least attempts to have a point. You really want Edgy, read Crossed. Or Bomb Queen.
What is the point? Ooooh wowww superheroes irl would suckkkk?
No, its point is to disparage all masculine characters in media. How do you obsess over Ennis and miss his eternal self-loathing? How room temperature is your IQ, non-reader?
You really added a lot on to a simple joke question. Did I touch a nerve?
No, homosexual. Answer my question.
No. I don't think I will. You've showed me zero respect, why should I?
I think it has more to do with mental illness and corrupt government really
Fair enough
It's enjoyable in a schlocky, junk food kind of way, but it has no real substance. It doesn't know what it's trying to say about celebrities, pop culture, corporations, TV, superheroes or anything else. It's why the show had to rewrite and radically alter so many things and go with the whole... social media-y angle where characters say things about racism and far-right extremism. Garth Ennis has always been a guy who is profoundly upset and angrily motivated to create, but he can never seem to pin down what it is he's really angry about besides a vague bit of everything.
FECKIN IRA BLEW UP A CAR FIVE MILES AWAY FROM ME. RAAAAAAAA
-Garth Ennis
>It's why the show had to rewrite and radically alter so many things
Bullshit, theres a very clear point to tone down or outright remove things from the comic and to appeal to certain sensibilities while trying to wear the IPs skin because trying to come up with an original superhero series is aparently impossible.

>Garth Ennis reasons like a twelve year old boy
Shocker
The TV show is all in all better quality-wise, but sanding off the edges of Ennis' idiosyncrasies (yes, even if it's edgeshit) leaves you with a boilerplate pusedo-prestige dramedy that suffers from the bloated pacing endemic to that sort of thing.
Plus a satire of corporatism from Amazon was always going to feel disingenuous. At least with the comic you know Ennis does genuinely think Captain America is moronic concept.
