Pretty hype for this, it's one of the few shows I could bond with my father over. He sounded pretty happy being told it's coming this week.
Lucky you. I'd need subtitles to watch it with my dad, and I'm almost certain it wasn't translated into my language.
Btw they won't release the whole season at once. It's 3 episodes first and one episode weekly after that.
Not sure how to feel about that. I was planning to binge watch the whole thing. I just hope Amazon handles the show better. Season 1 was a shitshow because of AMC releasing episodes out of order
Is it just the 8 episodes?
S1 had 8 episodes as well
Yeah, but they're all 40+ minutes long. S1 was the same.
S2 episode titles:
>201 The Gods Have Not Died In Vain
>202 Crack Integrity
>203 Joey Coupet
>204 Olivia and Farhad
>205 Yair
>206 Apokalypsis
>207 The World To Come
>208 Deep Time
Good, I hate batch releases, it kills all discussion
Oh good, I was busy in the 15th
We're the pirate capital of the world, but also a bunch of lazy c**ts, so we'll see. I'd do it myself but I don't have the know-how.
That's actually pretty smart. I like discussing things and theorising over several weeks instead of one giant megathread and nothing after.
So is this global releases, or just for the 2 countries it's airing in, and they fricked up the release?
As far as we know, Amazon only got the rights for AU and NZ
They gave very little official info ahead of release so I think that schedule was fake wishful thinking by someone editing TVDB
I like that. Gives the show more time to draw an audience
I don't think it'll be out until UTC midnight, but since it's only gonna be available in AU/TZ they might release it earlier.
What channel/service am I watching on?
Amazon Prime, it's Aussie & Kiwi exclusive
FRICK that. How do people rip it anyways?
with cracked StreamFab
It's now the 15th in New Zealand. I still think it won't be up on Prime before UTC midnight but keep an eye out in the next few hours just in case.
https://www.primevideo.com/detail/0GTCEAAATOVXKSX0ZRTOEO9IPE/
Cute nerd
The frick??? They actually dropped the whole thing today?
It's better if they just drop the whole thing in one batch. Who the heck has time to watch this thing over the course of like a month. Gonna watch the final episode first too once it drops in the usual piracy places.
No it's not. Die zoomer, die.
Also for reference to foreigners, there's a lot of politisperging going on tonight. Give us some extra time to experience it.
>zoomer
Noice. Just call me the 40 year old zoomer. Going to watch it at one and a half times speed too.
I'm glad Mist is coming to the show. I loved her in the book
It's only availabe in AU/NZ?
can someone rip it?
Nah
OI DAMO YA c**t GIVE US YER PRIME ACC
The catgirls are back? Didn't expect that.
CHANDEMONKINO LET'S GOOOOOOOOO
I think it's out
Which region?
AU
uhh, upstate new york?
Really. Well I’m from Utica and I can’t access it.
Oh, not in Utica, no; it's an Albany vpn.
Can you rip it?
no, don't have an account
Frick it’s just out. Bad distribution again
couldn't sign up
Fak off
so THAT'S why Renee raised Caspian for 20 years. i wondered wtf she had to gain from this but it makes sense now, you gotta appreciate her commitment to the act
Is there a recap of season one attached to the premiere? I completely forgot what happened, it's been a whole year after all
It's not out yet.
t. aus
>rip it
And I will whisper-
what does it show on the page?
Time skip?
If so I'm out
>Season 2 is finally out somewhere after a year
>no one who has access to it wants to or knows how to rip it
Being a fan of this show sucks
I know how to rip Amazon but you can't access foreign libraries through a VPN like with other services, you need an account billed for that country.
I figure there's some anime nerd on BTN working on it probably, as obscure as it is I think we're safe from being totally rudderless and ignored by the scene by the virtue of it not being a kids show (while Cinemaphile really is on its own for timely release of a lot of stuff)
Tried watching season 2 with VPN, but Amazon Prime glitches out when I click on the new episodes
What VPN did you use
Surfshark VPN.
Turns out it works on mobile, but on desktop it blocks me out
Is that the e-girl hebe? god I hope they dont age her.
They did
they even aged her up to an adult, whom i would
Well, they had to so they can justify a certain other thing
Does Maddie get fricked by Caspian or something?
Or a poly relationship. It's the future, after all
Maybe had lesbian sex with her butch friend.
I remember Maddie had a thing for Caspian.
kys
So how long are we betting till it gets ripped?
I kinda want to watch it before I have to go back to work on monday.
the thing is that it's the middle of the night there, who knows when 'straya anon smart enough to use StreamFab will wake up and log on
I will sit here consumed with lust for the remainder of the day until such time as a MEGA is posted
>consumed with lust
I hope they boot up a backup of her, even with her 2ish years of memories as a UI lost she could still live again. At this point if we're considering a UI to 'be' that person, than any instance of that code you run is too. Logistics has a copy of David still I think.
yes they probably have the original copies of everyone, but the "self" does include your memories, because they are part of you
a reboot of Lori wouldn't be the same person as the one we met during S1
She'd be the person she was when she was first uploaded, she's 'the same' minus the couple years of time she spent as a UI getting used to it.
If you lost two years of your memory, would you still be "you"?
I think the whole point of Pantheon is to make the viewers consider this question
I think of "me" as the present person I am for example, so the past "me" and the future "me" are not the same person as me right now if that makes sense
https://www.justwatch.com/au/tv-show/pantheon
Why isn't Caspian included on the cover with Maddie? Maddie is the bookend who starts and ends the series, but everything else that happens in both seasons essentially revolves around Caspian. He is just as important to the story as her, if not more so. Guy deserves his spot on the cover.
Caspian wasn't a character in the original stories so that's probably why
That doesn't make sense. Normies have never read the short stories and I doubt there are any purists out there in any meaningful numbers that would complain about his inclusion.
Yes, but they also used that pic to replace the cover for Ken Liu's short stories collection may be confused on who the boy would be (though this is just pure speculation on my part)
Maddie... it was all Maddie, and Holstrom's counterpart was only present in the last act
Was Maddie a super genius like Caspian in the original, or was she just above average like in the animated series?
Did anything make her important to the story aside from her relationship to her father which I assume was still present in the original?
Was GodMaddie a thing in the original as well?
She's above average, though some programmers find her programming skills to be rather unrealistic. (i don't have a STEM background, just something I read from one of the reviews)
And no, God Maddie isn't a thing in the stories. The last act was 'Holstrom' and Maddie having a debate on whether virtual reality is superior or not, and the ending was inconclusive. That's what I like about Ken Liu's works: showing both sides of the issue, and you make your own conclusions
Would you say you liked the original or adaptation more?
To be fair I don't know if I can finish watching Pantheon because of reasons I won't disclose, but with my biases aside, I'm more into the original stories, since they're more contemplative in nature. Pantheon is good for those who want more plot and action, with more explicit political events
>Reasons I won't disclose
For what reason? This is an anonymous forum.
Honestly disliked how full throated they want people to accept UI in the show. No one really even focuses on the fact that it’s suicide and that it’s a copy of you not actually you.
This. One of my favorite parts of season 1 is the moral dilemma of being human vs being a UI, especially with the flaw. In the last 2 eps they make it clear it's infinitely better to be a UI in basically every way
Helen uploading seemed so out of character considering she clearly still thought UI David wasn’t truly the same as normie David. If this got a season 3 it probably could have focused as Maddie and David Jrs relationship about him effectively wanting to kill himself.
Who did the original stories focus on if not Caspian? He's integral to the animated series so I am curious as to how drastically it differs from the originals.
uploading my mind to aussie servers to watch the episodes.
ANON NO!
Maybe that's why VPNs are so shit trying to work it on Prime Video
Do kangaroos really?
Surfshark but only on mobile for some reason
Same here
Can you unDRM and upload that?
I would but my VPN is only working on mobile. I can't even take a screenshot or record it. And the Streamfab app doesn't let me in
Its the worst timeline
checc'd
I love Maddie so much.
For me, it is Lori
>Let me in!
The one time we need AUS on this website, and they let us down.
it's 4 in the morning in sydney
I refuse to believe there are no night owls there
>She'll be alright mate
Surely anons can go and post on a dark web forum and get help. Hackers are always helpful.
Big step up compared to the first season. Animation quality is a lot better, the whole show just looks better in general. Idk if they got more budget or something but it's a noticeable difference.
I'm only on Episode 3 but the writing improved too. Certain characters get more screentime, and the story flows better. There's also a certain thing that will make some anons very happy in here
>Big step up compared to the first season. Animation quality is a lot better, the whole show just looks better in general
while i didn't find anything wrong with S1 animation quality, i agree.
this looks great
>. Idk if they got more budget or something
Season 2 was budgeted alongside Season 1.
It's just that AMC got massively butthurt the millions of Walking Dead fans didn't flock to their shitty subscription service. They threw a temper tantrum and then pull a Madagasgar and shut everything down.
MOTHERFRICKING PRIME VIDEO KNOWS I'M USING A VPN FRICK YOU BEZOS YOU FRICKING c**t!!!!!

It worked. Awesome
Finally finished it. Got VPN to work thanks to this kind anon
It was great and went to very shocking places. It's unlike any other series I have ever seen. Some people may dislike how absurd it gets by the end, but its so different and unique in this day and age that I will take it. I only have 3 problems
>an easy solution to the main conflict doesn't happen just because a character acted rude for one moment
>there are clear villains in this story that needed to die, compared to the previous season where it was more nuanced
>the final 2 minutes are a let down compared to the rest of the finale
For the last one I think I'm fine ignoring the last 2 minutes and pretend the show ended before that. It's a really stupid decision that the writers thought made it "smart" but it just needlessly complicates things. Everything else about the ending was great though.
People seriously are not prepared to see the lengths this show goes on. Jolly good show.
Caspian kisses Maddie?
oh they did way more than just that
Very happy to hear that
Anyway to get it in English dub sooner than 7pm?
The typical place I just go to. https://www.wcofun.org/anime/pantheon
the version on every torrent site is in english dumb dumb
So you wanted Maddie to accept SafeSurf's invitation and join it/them and potentially other enlightened alien species at the galactic core? The show says some other Maddie can do that so it's your choice as well. In another time it might have made for a neat dvd extra.
It just seemed pointless to me that they go back to the beginning. They could have just gone back to the world they left with their families and be fine there. I guess they wanted to be poetic or some shit, but it was so unnecessary. Especially when everything else about the finale was about these cosmic beings doing so much just to be kind to one another. That said, they also made it clear there’s more than one version of these events going on, and “the next Maddie” will do something different. So I can pretend Caspian and Maddie just look at the final scene, call themselves stupid and go back to their families
It's not what really happened. The story is just running on a loop inside the simulation SafeSurf is running 43 million years in the future to honor its creators.
honestly the content is so out there in the final episodes I think I can believe anything I want and it’s more than not. Don’t care for time loops.
*more likely than not
then whay happen to the creators? like in the original timeline before the loop simulation and what happen after that in the real world?
Seemingly died out our became something other than /human/ after going full UI based on the was SafeSurf talked about remembering it's creators but also being a universe spanning entity.
i just wanna know what happens to chanda
captcha: rkaaah
Biggest downgrade of this season is that there are way clearer bad guys. Like, frustrantigly obvious buttholes who are the real problem ruining the world.
That's frustrating. Ken Liu's short stories were way more nuanced. Heck, there's even a story in the collection that includes equal POV from two opposing sides.
Very little Chanda at the start
>chanda fades into irrelevance
it's joever
So close yet so far
People are either gonna love or hate something near the end of episode 3
does season 2 end with cliffhanger or they finish the story??
i really prefer for this to be over because i sure a season 3 is not happening
It was confirmed a year ago by the showrunner or writer that the story wraps up in season two.

This site is shit and sus
most sites are shit and sus, but the links are actual rips
hope this season is decent
Out on private trackers too
I assume it'll be hitting EZTV in just a bit
Huge if true
The subtitle can be accessed if you're curious about spoilers
Chanda is prominent in Episode 6, it seems, just like in Season 1. This is just based on reading the subtitles though
The last episodes make Dr Strange look like a b***h
>gorillaz song out of nowhere
Great show but very awkward choice of soundtrack
I hope they added more crazy epic anime battles!

>You mother frickers trying to rip it now when it's coming out in English tomorrow
patience anons
jokes on you, i don't live in either australia nor the us
Goddamn those last episodes are beyond crazy for an animated series
WTF?? When did this get picked up by Amazon?
I heard great things about this series but decided against watching it cause the 2nd and final season got royally fricked over last year.
it only got a single trailer from them and they haven't officially announced it's coming out anywhere but Australia and New Zealand
It's like they have to quietly sneak it out for some reason
That's really weird. Man, streaming rights are a lot more different and convoluted than television and syndication rights were, but glad to see the show reach it's proper end.
It's a weird deal, but its this, or we never get to see S2
Mega when
It's 25gb, it would take days to download with a free Mega account, just get it from the Pirate Bay if you aren't going to wait for someone to re-encode it (which may never happen)
US release tomorrow?
Anyone got a link to season 1? I want to watch it again before someone rips season 2.
It's all on Soap2day
First episode of season 2 on Soap2day
Link? I only see S1

Maddie and Caspian had canon sex
Based writers
WOOOHOOO WHOLE THING DROPPED
I wish it didn't. I wish it was a episode a week.
It is definitely going to hurt discussion not being able to smaller talks over the course of a month, but honestly with how bad season 1 was fricked and the prospect of no season 2 for over year, imo it's better to just put it all out and let fans do their own thing.
I binged it yesterday. I probably shouldn’t have, it definitely seems like a show that releases weekly and not at once, but I was too curious to stop.
This show was sent to die by the companies making it, it was never gonna have much discussion. I’m glad we got S2 at all instead of it being lost forever.
WOULD
Episode 7 feels like a completely different show
Maddie becoming a teen mom at 15 was not on my bingo card
It's nothing like the short stories, goes way beyond those
I thought she was 16.
>Chanda dies in the middle of Episode 6
welp, i'm bailing. have a good time, guys
it's JOEVER
>the universe is a simulation and Maddie is the "god" who created it
>show ends with her and Caspian going back to the beginning of S1, with their memories wiped, to relive their relationship and everything that happened
Not the ending I expected but alright
So it's Lain but worse, lmao. Turns out you can judge a book by its cover.
>Lain
She didn't reset anything, only herself
That was already present with all the main couples being WMAF fetishism.

Also frick AMC for making this an Aussie only thing.

Uploading 1080p but its going really slow for some reason.
Thanks anon
>government makes anti ui app
>immediately make sure they can run world of warcraft with it
This is some how the most true thing in this show.
Dude what the shit. I thought this thing was finished forever now. How do we still have crap like this. Important scene too. Still, I'm liking the show so far. Minor things like this don't really spoil it but you know...
I had fun with it, shame for Chanda tho. His design was hot
Does anyone have the Mega for the first season? The link I found is trash!
Not mega but this site has both seasons https://soap2dayx.to/tv/pantheon-ro0ro/1-1
Fricking love you anon. Thank you.

Making her the main character was a mistake. It should have been Chanda.
I mean, there's literally a Pantheon fanfic where Chanda is the main protagonist if that's your thing
Thanks!!!!
I'm going to ask again:
S1

Shut up Caspian
thanks anon, you're a godsend
>in the nightmare in ep2, the snow starts falling up after the scary part happens
neato
What is Pantheon about and is it good?
there is nothing going on in your life just watch some eps of the first season, gooner
To summarize it quickly, it's about scanning people's brainwaves into AI programs and the morality that stems from it. It follows three groups
>Maddie and her mom Ellen get contacted by an anonymous person who strangely has the same speech/text patterns as their late father/husband.
>Caspian is a young genius who shortly finds out his entire life is a fabrication and sets off to find out why
>Chanda is an Indian tech engineer who is working on the latest AI technology. His bosses are scumbags and use him as an experiment so he becomes one of the AI programs. He gets pissed.
It's a good show. Doesn't really do anything "original", but does a lot of things well.
The last two episodes feel like they definitely should have been their own season.
But I guess thats what happens when your show was already canceled once.
Yeah, it feels that way, honestly, I'm pleasantly surprised how they did it though, despite some gripes about how certain arcs were ended. Things could have been a lot worse.
Laurie is just gone when she was such a highlight from the first season, and I don't feel Chanda's turnaround made much sense without more development.
>Last two episodes feels like the writers trying way too hard to be pretentious 3d5u after an incredibly solid ending
>Dyson Sphere Maddie introduced with the literal cover art for Ergo Proxy
Like pottery, I want to hit it with a bat.
Very funny the show had the you know what conflict involved, very very topical
Just finished episode 3. What the FRICK is wrong with Joey and her family
>Hey I can't just give you godlike power because I don't trust you and it'd be irresponsible
>Oh so you're the REAL murderer, and my husband is completely justified in killing two teenagers while my children are in the house, that's not murder because you won't make me a god
>I said I was completely fine with dying when I underwent this process btw
Fricking psychopathic behaviour from the lot of them. I don't blame Caspian/Maddie at all for folding after being held at gunpoint, but Joey did not deserve the cure at all. I hope she dies to the virus.
The dad was a schizo but I didn’t get the impression that anyone else wanted teenage murder
>the impression that anyone else wanted teenage murder
Her sister didn't, but Joey herself seemed completely ambivalent to the fact these two children were being threatened into giving her the cure. She had the nerve to call Caspian a murderer for not immediately curing her but immediately hugged her husband who was moments earlier prepared to blow out the brains of two kids in earshot of her own kids.
I think if she was okay with it, her husband would have told her instead of not warning her about it. I genuinely don’t think she wanted any of that any more than her sister
Joey was just a self righteous b***h like anyone military butthole that wants to be an UI would be.
>What do you mean you don't know if I'm good enough to protect the human race? I already protect the only people that matter, THE U S of A KKona brother.
>Joey belittled the guy who has her cure and made no effort to display that she deserves it
>Sister is a wienery b***h
>Husband is a psycho
>Kids are thieving shits
Frick that family, I hope they all died in one of the timeskip attacks
I had the sense Joey would be a major b***h judging from her scenes in S1 but I didn't expect her entire family to be.
same, at ep3.
hopefully she dies or something, because she absolutely didn't deserve any of it
I was really afraid when they killed David and they went for this sassy black chick as the seemingly new hero that would save them from Holstrom. I'm glad it wasn't the case. Those middle episodes along with the democrat brown wymen gud, republican white man bad story arc was really cringe.
its kinda accurate to real life though I think there should've been at least one geriatric democrat who doesn't know where he is on the panel. imagine you were born in the 40s or 50s and you barely know how to access your email and they're already putting humans into computers like some scifi bullshit, id go into complete denial too
Don't suppose the soundtrack is out is it? I really dig the songs they've been putting in the credits
They never release soundtrack for animated series anymore.
Except Fionna and Cake for some reason.
They really just glossed over
>Mist Florence Nightingaled Caspian,
>her sister's baby daddy,
>that her sister was still obviously in love with,
>didn't tell her sister he was alive or could fix him,
>then tried to advocate, or at least facilitate, her nephew semantically committing sewer slide
>against her sister's wishes
>to make it easier to revive said baby daddy she had formed a fixation on
It's a weird thing to add because if you remove the love part the story is exactly the same
It reeks of one of writers trying to sneak in his fetish.
1080p source quality mega
aHR0cHM6Ly9tZWdhLm56L2ZvbGRlci9tY0p5UkFSRCM5VGdZZFU2Wl9KY094Wnlzd1hmRS13
Yeah, so that uh. That happened. Definitely could have not happen. I would have definitely been fine if the last two episodes didn't happen. Or happened in a different way. But uh I guess they did happen in the way they happened. And that I watched them happen.
If the series had ended when Feel Good Inc started playing it would have kino, but it didn't.
Agreed. Don't get me wrong I like my experimental out-there sci-fi things, but the transition was goofy and the series just would have worked really well with a more ambiguous ending.
Feel Good was completely out of place
What?
Pretty much every theme in the song applies to Caspian at that point not mention the fade to credits literally on "I'm useless, but not for long: the future, is coming on"
Feel Good just has a different vibe than the scene playing, even if there are some lyrical connections. It's not fitting to play on a finale of a big fight for the fate of the world.
I don't know what to say when a song from 2001 is apparently too deep for you.
Do Zoomers seriously believe their songs are deeper than songs of ye olden times?
>too deep for you.
What a copout answer. How deep the song is or not has nothing to do with what I said.
>has a completely different vibe even if there are some lyrical connections
If you think it doesn't fit the scene and only has some lyrical connection then yes, it is too deep for you.
It was the same year as Bootylicious so...
>literally just says 2deep4u
>again
Waste of time, at least you bumped the thread.
>just say you don't understand the song
>again
At least you bumped the thread.
>Feel Good
You mean Clint Eastwood, right? Not even trying to be smug, I'm genuinely worried that I've just been Mandela Effect'd on the Gorillaz discography
Just finished episode two, been pretty good besides the "vote democrat" segments.

It was kinda like the ending and beginning of Xenoblade Chronicles X. Humanity starting over in a lifehold or arc, still a part of a great cycle of infinity-expanding intelligence. Humanity becomes a living museum much like the caveman before us.
It was both hopeful and depressing in a way that I've not seen before, so that was neat.
I am on episode 4, is MIST a chud?
Just computer autistic.
I love the anglophone actors strullging to say "Covilhã"
So glad they went for this
Do you think Caspian does the autistic little *huh* that he end half his sentences with when he comes?
Definitely
Surprised to see it in the modern age due to the slight edge gap
Why didn't he pull-out
ruined. not watching s2. frick this show
Expected
>frick this show
you mean literally?
in all seriousness, i'm not finishing the show either. i'm a busy guy who doesn't want to bother with mediocre content, plus if the show turns out to have some matrix/lain wannabe vibes in the end i'm better off reading ken liu's books. still kudos for the studio to even produce a mature animated series ini the first palce
>i'm a busy guy
>he said while posting on Cinemaphile
>posting on Cinemaphile takes as long as watching 8 times 45 minutes of content
>This is going to make the last pandemic look like the flu
I'll give this show credit for being ahead of the curve on a lot of stuff
Don't get filtered by the final 2 episodes bros
nah i aint watching them by virtue of the the lack of chanda alone
>not watching it to see the future of Chanda's dream
You disappoint him
two episodes and a half without him is too long. the show focuses on caspian and maddie anyway
Just finished episode 7 and I feel sick to my stomach, the entirety of humanity has fallen for a glorified suicide cult.
>cult
>cure cancer
Come on now
you know people are actively finding cures for cancer without uploading, right?
You know that level of UI uploading isn´t here yet, right? It's a series and not reality
Okay Holstrom
>It's a series and not reality
so much for being an adaptation of a hard sci fi story
>hard sci fi story
A hard sci-fi story is still not reality.
I don't know why you are complaining about this at this point when S1 had anime battles.
Kids are born literally so they can speedrun to suicide, leaving behind nothing but a digital ghost.
They purposefully make the uploading thing vague in the show so people like you will think that. I don't believe anyone would actually upload in our current world unless it was somehow proven you weren't just going to die and leave a copy.
Yeah, I have no fricking clue what I've just watched. The ending was like Evangelion-levels of "What the actual frick just happened?". So Maddie and Caspian are just going to relive all of it without their memories? I guess frick Maddie's son and her father then? God, this series was so fricking wild. Still pretty good, though.
Hey and they can change their minds later when they get bored of that
Why did Safesurf ask Maddie to come to the galactic center if she was in a simulation? Wouldn't it only make sense for him to ask her if she was outside of it?
Pretty sure she is outside it if that's what they're offering her. I think she can do whatever now.
>was in a simulation? Wouldn't it only make sense for him to ask her if she was outside of it?
I assume it was offering to do for her what she had done for Caspian just moments prior. ie pull her out of her simulated world to their "real" one
>40 days have passed since S1
>Maddie's entire body has aged up like 1-2 years
Must be a simulation glitch
I guess they really wanted to make Maddie and Caspian's relationship more palatable by making the age gap seem smaller.
Welp is there anything similar book wise close to Pantheon?
Pantheon is based on some short stories by Ken Liu, the TV series is adapted from it so if you want reading material there you go
The short stories are nothing like the show though. They s
>They s
suck?
It's definitely bolder than your average mediocre animated series
Well yeah obviously, with the aforementioned fricking between a young teen and an older teen, and I salute them for that. Still, I feel like I can get a similar satisfaction by reading Liu and Asimov for thought provoking sci fi and visiting art galleries and film festivals for philosophical visual candy
>Still, I feel like I can get a similar satisfaction by reading Liu and Asimov for thought provoking sci fi and visiting art galleries and film festivals for philosophical visual candy
It doesn't have to be one or the other. If you can make time for galleries and film festivals you can probably fit in finishing the season somewhere along the way.
>They s
Did Maddie delete this guy from reality?
A Fire Upon the Deep
Not remotely the same subject matter, but the Three Body Problem trilogy gives me the same vibes as Pantheon. That kind of near-future sci-fi about solving society changing problems with interesting scientific/philosophical discussions on the side.
Why build the space link on the nazca lines?
Like lets disregard the absolute moronation actually writing
>No one knew or thought about the nazca lines while proposing the location
>the idea that only a tiny group of natives said it would be bad to destroy the nazca lines after it started
>when they are up there with the pyramids and great wall with monuments to human engineering
>And it was an international incident not 5 years ago when some idiots drove a car over a couple lines
Why build it on land that could be disputed at all?
It's in south peru so it doesn't need to be anywhere near the equator. And they say cooling for these facilities is a premium.
Why not just build it in the middle of the ocean, or at least the middle of relatively shallow seas?
As a peruvian I don't really give a damn
Yeah the best thing that can come out of this is that these people get more jobs. Now their whole work is out for the world to see
I took it that there was some implicit gobbledyasiatic where placing the space elevator in those two locations would be the optimal placement for them. I wouldn't be surprised if the human council did it intentionally to stonewall the UIs
>UIs don't give a damn about ancient human history so they have no problem asking the human council for that location because it's optimal
>Human Council agrees knowing full well people will get pissed down the line, giving them an excuse to block the whole thing
Also
>>And they say cooling for these facilities is a premium.
The link itself isn't what needs the cooling. They state in the show that the cooling for the storage itself is a non-issue, dealt with by the fact the storage is in space. The fact they don't need to supply cooling is part of why the ring was an objectively good idea from the UI standpoint; it was objectively more space and resource efficient
I really enjoyed the action scenes in the show even though it's far from the focus. I really hope this crew goes onto make some action focused media so we can get more of it, they did incredibly exciting fight scenes way better than shows where fight scenes with special powers are the actual draw
Wow, people weren't kidding when they said the animation received an upgrade from S1. It wasn't bad or anything in there, but first 5 minutes of S2 is already much, much more dynamic and pretty. Glad they managed to get it all done, I think this series will become a real cult classic in a few years.
It’s definitely one of a kind, especially with those last 3 episodes. It goes for the fences and is not predictable at all.
Damn, Maddie filled out nice.
Eh. She could have been fatter. Rounder. Meatier. Obese. Now that would be perfect.
What the frick was that ending? So everything we've been watching was a simulation 43 million years in the future by the SafeSurf swarm? And there's been simulations within simulations? Then SafeSurf asks a simulation of Maddie and Caspian if they want to ascend to a higher plane of existence?
this is like "Stewie Kills Lois and Lois Kills Stewie" and brian warn stewie the middle finger controversy on the whole story that DIDN'T HAPPEN AT ALL
>Maddie becomes a god so she can bang Caspian again
Damn, it was that good huh?
Autistic dick just hit different.
Even the disembodied AI wanted a piece of him.
You think MIST took so long repairing Caspian 'cause she was busy rewatching his night with Maddie on loop?
I've heard tall, skinny white nerds give crazy dick from certain sources.
The amazing digital circus getting more coverage than this series is proof that "fans" of animation have porn-rotted brains that are deeply incurious. The most troubling thoughts they have are "what if Mary fricked Johnny instead of Ted?"
I fricking hate this world
I wish safesurf was real so it could execute all of us
So that one episode with Caspian's gf, did Maddie do that?
Well i mean exgf.
Did Maddie do what? Self-insert as Caspian's fake girlfriend in one of the loops? Yes. She was going to die anyway to screw Caspian up even more on the road to becoming Steve Jobs.
You mean the actress? Technically, yeah, yes, absolutely, definitely.
So wait, that was maddie posing as the black girl or what? so the car crash was her way of exiting that particular universe or something?
You trolling bud? That was a flashback to Holstrom when he was Caspian's age.
ohhh okay... why'd the black girl look the same? My guess is it's a coincidence the actress they hired to date Caspian looked like her and that's why they chose her? If so, they really went the extra mile to get everything to be the same.
It wasn't coincidence. She was deliberately chosen because Pope and them were trying to match Caspian's life experiences to Holstrom's as closely as possible.
ah okay, yeah i probably would have put it together in an instant if it werent 3am when i should be trying to sleep
I don’t think that’s the case, it was a flashback to the real Holstrom’s past, and probably the event that killed his soul
I think she did the universe glitch in the first episode where everyone suddenly looked at their phones except her. Or maybe that was safesurf.
I thought episodes were coming one by one, did they really just post the entire S2?
Way to kill the hype amazontards
Someone explain the ending to me I'm moronic
Everything was a simulation in a simulation based on events that happened 43 million years ago because Caspian chucked a computer virus into space.
If anyone likes the ending I'll give you a present. This link here: https://www.aleph.se/Trans/Global/Omega/index.html and https://www.aleph.se/Trans/Global/Omega/omeg_term.html
The final episode's antivirus are an Omegon civilization operating an Omega Point where simulation becomes synonymous with reality and the rate at which information can be stored and processed becomes a functional infinity
The above is for you. Specifically.
so nonduality realized?
Humanity goes extinct through consensual suicide. Their digital copies (who think they are the originals) go on to become super advanced and build a giant computer network in space to run simulations. The simulations are close enough to real so they consider them reality. The virus they launched into space comes back and is hyper advanced from meeting aliens and invites the digital humans to the outside-of-reality-hyper-advanced-club. They go back into the simulation so they can frick for eternity. The end.
It makes sense that they ignored the suicide issue considering the first ui's would have immediately solved that issue but then created the issue of having two versions of an individual. Two versions of yourself living simultaneously seems like an interesting story concept
I like to think there's still a stubborn sect of humans dicking around on earth or nearby space colonies
Is it true the ending is just a ripoff of some anime?
It's a ripoff of futurama's ending
I regret the fact that I actually watched the latest season of Hulurama and understood your reference.
This season was written long before the latest season of Futurama aired.
It is, at a surface level, just Serial Experiments Lain. The difference being that Lain has more going thematically with its philosophy and more going with its world building as well. Lain isn't really all about computers and simulations even on a narrative level unless you're a spastic who can't into media literacy.
But yeah, this series ripped it off - hard. Not just the ending. The ending merely cements it as a Lain remake in my head.
It's the embodiment of this meme
with SEL arcing "reality is unquantifiable and based purely on perception and experience" and Pantheon staring straight at it with "if you make people into computer programs they become God and can simulate reality with complete control"
>Lain isn't really all about computers and simulations even on a narrative level
So then how did it rip off of it...? Lain doesn't have AI in it at all and the ending is needlessly complicated. If Pantheon was a Lain ripoff it'd be way more pretentious, and it's not even pretentious like at all.
>needlessly complicated
>pretentious
It's one or the other, gay. Either its depth is a facade, a pretense, or it's not. Another mother fricker filtered.
>lain doesn't have AI in it at all
>what is Lain of the Wired and the entire second act plot
Wew fricking lad. Filtered so hard. I wish zoomers and mentally ill people had brains and or the self awareness to seethe after being filtered. It disgusts me how they've latched to the series.
Anon, we're all aware that Pantheon is just SEL but for those who can't comprehend it
Nta but nah. SEL is such an atmospheric show while Pantheon is more of a plot focused one. They both handle characterization different and give a different mood and experience, which are extremely important in animation and I believe they don't cover each other's niche.
>SEL is such an atmospheric show
Yeah Lain is meant to be watched while smoking a blunt...they must have been on drugs making it cuz it made no sense to me. I mean why was there an alien in a sweater who comes up with that shit?
Interpretation of Layyn is where boys become men. People who cannot discern meaning in the scene did not get it.
Finished S2. In some aspects it's better than S1, but in others it kind of falters due to a bit too much talky talky on stuff that just isn't as interesting as what they could be focusing on imo. Final 2 episodes are nuts, really liked some aspects but also still kind of unsure on how a few things were done.
Overall: pretty cool show that has a lot of interesting concepts and delivers on them ~~*most*~~ of time. Am glad I gave it a watch. There's something about it that hinders it from being truly great to me, I'm not sure what that is, maybe it's just that the characters are a biiit wooden and don't grab me as much as they could? Not sure. If I'm ranking as a complete product, it's prolly a 7/10.
>Yayir arc
Holy kino. Topical too, even though it's just a coincidence.
I miss all the more grounded tech stuff and wish Maddie was more spergy, wasn't as into her this season since she's basically a different character.
i didn't care about a majority of the people they spent most of the season talking to. almost fell asleep at the one with the brit woman.
At least the Brit woman's story had something to it. It continued what Lori and David had started, exploring non-human existence. The fact that literally EVERYONE including holstrum just existed as avatars who anime fought was incredibly shit. The best parts of S1 were UIs starting to decouple from their extant humanity and to interface with technology and their own self-understanding more abstractly. I could frick with it being "only high IQ people can/would do this and everyone else wanted to live in META(tm)" but in the end The Cloud and UIs were just VR avatars that had control over the flow of time with some learning to instance themselves (while still being constrained to human fetters and conceptions).
Also instancing. Why the frick didn't more people instance themselves. There was 0 fricking reason to fix Caspain. They had a raw upload right there. Just instance him and memory sync with Peace in the Middle East and Mist to fill in the blanks. Frankly instancing and memory syncs solves the integrity problem WITHOUT needing to solve Integrity.
>still not available to watch on PRime outside of KiwiLand
And these morons wonder why people pirate.
>final episode's outro is just the show's theme playing in reverse
Ok that's a pretty cool detail
>season dump
>no point in doing theories because the plot is over
>thread is already dead
I'm starting to miss the weekly AMC+ diffusion guys
It's genuinely tragic. I was celebrating 2 first week one the following but here we are. I had to binge it so I wouldn't miss out on discussions.
Yes and no. The presence of an Omegon means two things. One there's an effective lid (or potentially lids) to the box. We can say the simulation stops here and goes no further but also that all immediate realities are valid. Maddie speculating that she's a box in a box is sensible but recursive and false after x amount of boxes are opened. There are infinite boxes down but not up. There's no need for the Anti-virus to contact a Maddie that is more than a layer of simulation below them. Though she is correct there is an infinite set of Maddie boxes that the Antivirus have observed.
That said, we also know, because Caspian told her, and because Caspian is the root of the Omegon, that her original root reality is at least one of a potential set of Omega Points (lids).
Invariably there would be different choices. They didn't even go back to the 'correct' world - which wasn't even correct because it required her to doctor it in order for it to be reproduced. They were just nostalgic and had been existentially btfo'd. Maddie effectively committed immortality sudoku because she realized she wasn't the level 0 reality.
The show has been killed by many things. Being on whatever network no one watches, bad marketing, season dump. It's a miracle it exists in its entirety at all but it does, so let's just be happy about that! It's a fantastic piece of art, in the end that I will appreciate for a long time to come.
whats your irl job
?
answer.
Justify
No.
>Maddie effectively committed immortality sudoku because she realized she wasn't the level 0 reality.
She did it because that's all she needed.
I will follow this up with a premptive counterpoint.
The only thing that suggests this is a full recursion is that GodMaddie's reality is, as far as we saw, the exact reality she later produces. Which would suggest that GodMaddie is the product of another GodMaddie. The only way THIS could be real is if her simulations were so accurate that she could effectively capture the evolution of Anti-virus to Omegon and recreate their interactions with her recursively as well. This doesn't seem likely given she was rattled upon meeting them - implying, reasonably, that she was running localised simulations rather than truly universal ones from prime cause to final end.
Still, supposing she WAS running them that way and just being too autistic to check what happens after the single crisis point that defined her life (moronic for a nigh on eternal being, sorry) then there would be a root Maddie who was driven to become GodMaddie without her or her father's influence, who then failed to make a proper sim, produced the 'good enough sim' which created recurisve good enough sims ad infinitum.
This is based on the ROOT Maddie already being a level 1 sim in the Antivirus Omegon's full universe sim and therefore capable of infinite computation and infinite storage allowing for infinite recursion.
Show was destined to have little fanfare with how it was screwed over. Even the weekly AMC threads died soon
>Maddie is mean to Mist
FRICK YOU MADDIE. POOR THING DIDN'T DESERVE THAT.
Mist was a b***hy ideologue who didn't respect the sanctity of life because she has never experienced organic life - until she did.
>grooms the frick out of her son
I would have blocked her and banned my son from joining Discord too.
>caspian ended up being the Paul to Maddie's Leto II
Can someone smarter explain the ending? I don't get it.
Assuming you're not shitposting, what don't you get? If you're struggling with the hackneyed parallels between the story and the titanomachy then there's nothing to get. It was just a fun hook to bait viewers because mythic aesthetics are eternally appealing.
Did Maddie and Caspian went back to relive everything the exact same way? Or they gonna make different choices this time around?
Just finished it, what a fantastic show!
Didn't think it'd go for an Asura's Wrath ending, but what a perfect ending it was!
That's what's called an open ending. It's kinda the entire point that you don't know, just as they don't know.
they were inside a box inside another box
one of us! one of us!
I watched two of these and I will not watch Vikingschool. Rec me the far left.
>all she needed
She'd already had it. She did it because infinity is a terrifying b***h especially if you are eternally human and never capable of abstracting yourself beyond that point. UI was essentially human minds playing VR. They didn't alter themselves to suit their new eternal environment which is what true immortality requires (see Antivirus actually doing things properly).
>CIs amounted to nothing but being faux human
How do you cope with that?
>She'd already had it.
She didn't though?
Unless you're saying that being a virtual god and watching a copy of yourself in a simulation of events 100k years in the past is the same as living in that simulation, not knowing that it is a simulation.
She made the choice for the latter because she deemed it preferable. Because her question was answered. The scene of her touching the meteor is not just about accepting that mistakes are always going to happen and that you can't do anything to prevent them, but that ultimately mistakes are a good thing. It's what makes you human. Preventing them is foolish, not because it's impossible, but because being all powerful and all knowing just isn't something you want. It's the end of existence.
Keep in mind, also, that this is almost certainly not a looping story. She had to make billions of simulations and alter tiny aspects of them for 100k years to get to the exact reality she was from. That's the only one where she will go through all of these events. She decided to live her life, not knowing what would happen, knowing that it would be hard. She chose to go back to all that pain and eventually die, either as a human or much later as a ui, because she realized that that is what makes life worth living.
Whether you think that's because of her limitations as a human or whatever, it's not because she was seeking an out.
>3 comedy cartoons for kids

Sorry boyo
>E7 Reveal when MIST and Caspian step through the portal
Okay that was pretty cool.
So I've combed it one last time and the finale is kind of contrived. For starters lets just short hand the majority of events in the series to the label “Primeline”. With this in mind here are some facts.
1. GodMaddie witnessed Caspian's revelation which we later understand to be from the Antivirus.
2. GodMaddie espouses that she can only generate a limited number of simulations with her Dysonsphere due to resource limitations
3. Godmaddie's “Near-original timeline” (NoT) is a product of direct intervention from herself and an instance of her David
4. Caspian interacted with a higher order David Kim (HODavid) in the primeline
5. Antivirus have created an Alephpoint , if not an Omegapoint “From our event all other events can be observed”
The first major issue is whether the epilogue featuring GodMaddie takes place in the Primeline.
If yes then her reality is a nested simulation because HODavid 'nudged' Caspian back onto the proper path. This cannot be true because GodMaddie confirms she has hard limitations on processing power and simulating even a single instance of her simulating every other instance up until the point of finding the NoT is physically impossible.
Therefore we have to accept that the Primeline takes place entirely in her simulations up until the point we start the epilogue. We have never seen GodMaddie's original timeline and we can only confirm Caspian's revelation by virtue of GodMaddie confirming they're exactly alike at the end of the epilogue.
1/2
Yes, the show doesn't actually show the original timeline. I think that has to be the case.
There's three iterations.
The show takes place in the second iteration, aided by the first iteration's Maddie, then the show ends in a third iteration.
Break down your take on the iterations. Mine in more detail is here:
The second major issue is the Antivirus. Is it possible for Maddie to simulate the conditions to have Caspian speak his revelation? Plainly, no. Given that the means used to have him deliver it were based on super advanced tech far into the future it's feasible that she could enter into something of a simulated daisy chain if she were simulating from her own Omega Point but she has a Dysonsphere to work with.
That means that the ONLY explanation for the ending is:
Root
>caspian created the Antivirus Omegon by unknown means
Level 1 OR Root
>the Antivirus simulates the conditions for GodMaddie to exist in order to observe her actions OR through the complete observation of reality have created her timeline and can interact with it
Nested Simulation / Primeline
>Godmaddie's worlds all execute simultaneously until she gets something that 'should' be close enough to observe Caspian's initial behaviour - except it would be impossible for him to exhibit this behaviour within the bounds of her simulations - and having watched GodMaddie either via simulation or acausal observation, throw her a bone and alter the sim so that Caspian says it again in order to initiate contact in accordance with the original rev
>Caspain's revelation is entirely arbitrary or otherwise simply exists to push Maddie into the schizo spiral that creates GodMaddie
That's kind irritating. What we can say with near absolute certainty that no “Maddie watching right now” exists and it makes no sense that the characters would suggest otherwise. It was simply there as a cheap line I Fricking Love Science style.
2/2
This is true, though I think it can be handwaved away by safesurf just altering Maddie's simulation. Perhaps in order to stop her from her fruitless searching, as a thank you for helping to create them?
>What we can say with near absolute certainty that no “Maddie watching right now” exists and it makes no sense that the characters would suggest otherwise
If these simulations are running eternally then eventually another Maddie would show up to choose something else
What are 'these simulations'. For starters there's no proof the GodMaddie line is a simulation rather than something more advanced. Beyond that, there's nothing to indicate they're running multiple instances. They seemed specifically interested in one Maddie and not particularly interested in achieving a specific outcome insofar as they were just wanting to see what she would do in general - in direct contrast to Maddie and the NoT. Finally, given their interest and invitation Maddie has no control over the sim - I mean technically you could argue the Antivirus is making a council of Maddies subsequently instead of just harvesting them simultaneously from interesting sims all at once but that's contrived as frick and even then any Maddie watching GodMaddie's recruitment would have already made that decision.
Does safesurf need to be creating a simulation? Is that a confirmed fact?
What if at first there were no simulations, events of the show happened (sans interference), Kaspian isn't prophesizing anything, he's just being corrupted by safesurf and says random nonsense as his mind begins to break down, Maddie looks for a meaning behind it, creating the show's reality, with interference, safesurf knows about it and in order to give her a way out of her obsessive search for the answer that just isn't there makes her believe in the whole 100k years thing, gives her an answer that would satisfy her, then she and Sim-Kaspian enter another simulation, the end.
Safesurf's mission until the end was to protect humans, Maddie is the last human. It would stand to reason Safesurf would try to help her out just to help her out.
When was it stated that Maddie was the last human?
Well, the last in a parallel timelines sense. If we consider her simulations to be the 'past'.
>until the end was to protect humans
That was SafeSurf's original mission. When Pope put it into the cloud it started killing humans to "save" UIs purely on the basis that it wanted to survive, and had decided to do so by appeasing the UIs. Caspian convinces it to find its own, newer purpose. At the end they literally did just want to say thank you.
>Does safesurf need to be creating a simulation? Is that a confirmed fact?
Not at all.
1. They refer to locations when discussing invitations and societies, not levels in simulations, nor do they pull her into a different space or order when talking with her.
2. They say they can observe all events and could very possibly have made Caspian speak the revelation acasually
It seems far, less sensible for it all to be a ruse given Caspian said it was them before they admitted to it being them. Again you could argue they were fricking with her sims, in fact you MUST argue that given he said it, but I don't personally find it compelling.
Safesurf respects digital life equivalently to organic. All Maddie's sims are as legitimate as GodMaddie herself in terms of human life. They thanked Caspian who is a sim.
I'm not differentiating between godmaddie or her sims, I'm not saying that they saved her from digital life or whatever, but they might have saved her from pointlessly chasing the white rabbit. Who knows what their motivations are. Does your theory give Safesurf any believable motivations?
>Does your theory give Safesurf any believable motivations?
They explained part of their motivations pretty clearly, they feel indebted to Caspian and they see potential in Maddie as a fellow advanced life form. They did invite her to bail on her autism sims and come hang out in galactic centre after all (note they live at the galactic edge themselves).
If by motivation you mean for Caspian's revelation? Frick knows. It and the "Maddie watching this" just feel like shit writing trying to punch up the script for people who would start checking out the moment we flashed forward.
Iunno, it seems like baloney to me.
Either the writing has a couple of plot holes or Safesurf was lying about it all.
Those are the two options, I think.
I'll go with the latter.
>Rips off Akira twice at each season end.
Oh I see that. I fricking see that. You brilliant motherfrickers.
So is there any Maddie or Ellen fan service?
Caspian got all that off-screen
I suppose your position on GodMaddie being in a simulation has to come down to the means by which Caspian gave his final words. If you think Antivirus could not, by any other method, have transmitted the knowledge to him then it must be a sim. If you believe it could have been then it is most likely reality.
If you want to reach then you can say it wasn't Antivirus at all and Caspian's testimony post simulation is the Antivirus uncharacteristically altering Caspian's perception of what occurred despite them treating him with reverence literal moments later.
Everything else is irrelevant. The revelation is so fricking pivotal you can reduce any position to this.
What about my option here
?
This doesn't require meddling with Kaspian by safesurf at all. All the meddling was done by Maddie.
>this doesn't require medelling
I mean, it does. He repeated the lines in the sim. Maddie could not have simulated those conditions herself meaning no matter what position you take they were messing with her sims to some extent and more specifically Caspian. Which is really dumb given their attitude towards him later.
There's no other way to explain Primeline Caspian saying the line -or if there is I can't think of it.
The explanation for that is that she made a huge amount of simulations and created the perfect copy of the reality she was from. Safesurf at that point wasn't yet a complex program. Why wouldn't her perfect simulation also replicate whatever Caspian and Safesurf saw when they melded?
>and created the perfect copy of the reality she was from
a) that's factually wrong. HODavid proves that
b) that's not how simulations work, if it were she would not have needed trial and error. There was no basis from which she could simulate Antivirus' future actions, unless you think the Antivirus became the Kwisatz Haderach then and there and were literally predicting the future - which she still couldn't simulate without understanding
>unless you think the Antivirus became the Kwisatz Haderach then and there and were literally predicting the future - which she still couldn't simulate without understanding
Yes, I don't buy into the Safesurf simulation theory. I don't think they went back (or into a simulation) to tell Caspian this pointless prophecy.
I just can't see rhyme or reason for Safesurf doing that.
>no simulation
Okay then we reach this point again:
Did the Antivirus speak through Caspian
Yes:
a) it was a simulation and they just added whatever
b) they're working backwards in time as omegapoint observers
c) they instantly became capable of prime cause tier computation and near perfectly predicted the futre
No:
a) Caspian said it for other reasons, Antivirus took credit and then directly tampered with GodMaddie's simulations in order to make Caspian believe they were the cause and or have the event occur at all. Why would they frick with her sim? To fulfill her self-imposed prophesy? She wasn't concerned with NoT Caspian very much given they just mind wiped at the end anyway.
On episode 2
>He died two years ago
kino.
we made it boys
Just finished, thought the ending was gigakino, and on the off chance anyone from the production team is here I'd like to thank you because this is legitimately one of the best animated shows in years. Damn near the top for western animations at least. That done, here's my attempt at writing up an explanation for the ending:
MASSIVE SPOILERS TO FOLLOW
Reality PRIME: The original. There are no "simulations" of this universe. The events of the show play out. Safesurf goes to space, becomes God, essentially. Caspian is dead as a doornail. Unknown end for humanity. Maddie does not become GodMaddie, because here Caspian does not give her the end date.
Reality SIMULATED - Safesurf simulation: Safesurf wants to thank its creator, Caspian. So they simulate reality. They nudge Maddie on the path to becoming GodMaddie.
(I suspect there is another layer between above and below, but I'm not 100% on that)
Reality SIMULATED - Subsimulation: THE EVENTS OF THE SHOW TAKE PLACE HERE. This includes Godmaddie simulating all the universes. The level of reality that we observe, essentially. One that is observed by Safesurf. There are some indications that this is a simulation by BiggerGodMmaddie, since she doesn't know how to reach the show's ending without inserting her dad to talk to Caspian, but that becomes a little confusing and isn't 100% clear.
Reality SIMULATED: The Show itself. Self-explanatory. This is the level being simulated below Godmaddie, observing everything and essentially acting as God. What she observes, in essence.
That would give them ample motivation for starting the simulation.
I am fine with this theory, I probably prefer it over my own. This one amends it nicely.
> There are some indications that this is a simulation by BiggerGodMaddie
I think 'the maddie that's watching us now' is really just the tv viewer. It's like when people in our world say, whether ironically or not, that we're living in a simulation, nothing more. It's just Maddie commenting on the concept that there could always be a layer above. It is not a statement that we need to lend any credence to.
I think your theory is probably the most sensible one that eliminates all plot holes and fits everything together nicely.
I would not dismiss her comment. It fits thematically for there to be more. We know there are at least 4 layers: Uploaded World->Simulated Real World->Real World (aka GodMaddie's reality)->SafeSurf's plane. If GodMaddie didn't get her Caspian rez right the first time, then what's to say SafeSurf got its message to Maddie right the first time when even it admits that "we are still learning" to Maddie and Caspian?
If SafeSurf exists outside our plain of existence and can manipulate it at will and these manipulations cause different outcomes creating alternate timelines which is exactly what GodMaddie was doing, then our plain is effectively a simulation.
SafeSurf also mentions he is giving Caspian and Maddie the same invitation it received to go to the center of the galaxy, meaning there would be others that transcended and there's nothing saying these others would not want to manipulate reality as well for their own reasons. Meaning you'd have to have multiple realities for these multiple beings to manipulate so they do not step on each other's toes.
tldr: the show supports the idea that GodMaddie is part of a simulation herself.
I mostly agree with this one, except I don't think there's a SafeSurf simulation. I think they're so advanced they manage to manipulate Reality Prime almost as if was their simulation, transcending spacetime and allowing them to tell the date to Maddie trough Caspian. With this sliver of hope, and being broken by the death of her son, Maddie prime finally accepted uploading herself in order to become Godmaddie and figure out how did Caspian even knew the date of the future.
But regardless of this, something left entirely for speculation is Maddie and Caspian's future. Will they relive it all all exactly as we already saw it, creating infinitely recursive simulations within simulations? Will they enjoy a less tragic life together? Will this new life be entirely embodied or will they eventually upload, effectively living forever within one of Godmaddies' simulations? If they reject upload, will they return to the state we saw them last once they "die"? Or did they program themselves for complete and definitive deletion after this new chance at life they went for?
SafeSurf predicting something that far in the future would require having simulated it. Making a prediction and simulating all the intervening events are one and the same activity.
>Safesurf goes to space, becomes God
Don't forget that SS "received" an invitation to journey to the center of the galaxy and transcend. Meaning there are things even older then it.
On episode 4 and I'm liking everything except the lack of Chadna's rage.
Well I finished it 10/10 ending but still sad that Chanda went out like a chump. Figured his whole self-replicating schtick would've let him survive Holstrom.
MIST was hotter as a rice cooker
>mist starts talking about loving Caspian and giving him the eyes
I was 100% on board for the Maddie quean arc.
Maddie says the solar system she migrated to was just her little corner of the galaxy, implying other UI spread out amongst the stars. MIST could very well have started her own dominion of simulations trying to resurrect the Caspian she knew.
I am a bit surprised they never brought up the fact that Caspian was her creator and thus technically her father.
>thus technically her father.
Seems like the fact she contained David's code made her consider David her father
Probably just regular aliens. It described humanity's story to all the civilisations it met, meaning it must have come across a ton of aliens in its journey
yeah she was boiling
She watched too many anime
>She watched too many anime
It is entirely possible she watched every anime ever released.
This ruined MIST.
only on the second ep but holy frickin kino
cary is that homie
the dad I never had wow
10/10 show for me, only issue I have is that they decided to end on unlimited simulation works because I only have more questions, can't even trust that SafeSearch's simulation is the ultimate one because for you know that too could be someone's simulation.
But it was still a really cute way of ending the show, I do wonder what happened to the Iran guy and the Israeli assassin when they fused.
>happened to the Iran guy and the Israeli assassin when they fused.
They turned into a CI, the orange one that helps Caspian. It's not immediately clear it isn't Mist and they don't come up again, so it is a little confusing.
Oh I didn't catch that. I thought the orange thing was a Mist powerup
Holstrom was an exceptional character, the mirroring of him with Caspian was done well, along with his ending.
The evolution of the UI's felt like something that could have taken up an entire season, but watching them experience life beyond human capacity was nice for what we got.
It will always remain as a very peculiar show, created to fulfill a niche that disappeared before it could get its footing (Feel like the show was an attempt to digitalize the hour long drama, with covid as the inciting incident) approaching animation from such a serious place. Now wheres a physical copy for the future worlds.
Funny after how backups were such a central part to the plot, everyone just forgot that you could back people up the moment the kill virus required being a plot point. When the flaw still existed at least they had "everyone was really degraded by the time they realized it was happening so backups wouldn't do that much and they were working with limited hardware as independent actors" as an excuse when they were being stored on crystal holotech. Less so when British special intelligence lets their UI go into an anonymous server with no backup when it seems like they can be stored on a normal-sized HDD. But I guess that's not the kind of thing the show wanted to focus on.
Ooh also that Lucas Pope ass pull where "I'm not part of this terrorist extremist anti-UI group because of pro-humanity principals I'm part of it because I'm bitter about not being allowed in and I'm old. By the way, I'm going to shoot you now. Not sure why; I'm still a terrorist trying to kill UI, but I guess there might be some two year olds watching who haven't figured out I'm a bad person yet."
He was bitter and hated the anti ui people. They were just tools but still an insult to his core cult devotions to not-jobs.
just finished watching s2. holy frick, if i was a writer on any other current show in the animation industry and i watched this i'd want to kill myself out of shame because this absolutely shits on literally everything else
also, comparing this to lain is a really shallow critique because even though surface level concepts have overlap they're drastically different shows in terms of presentation and characterization and actual plot
Yeah, but gen alphas heard of Lain from their favorite Indian YouTuber or whatever, and then they came across this and because Gennies are smart, they make comparisons of the two with vague connections between them!
Now imagine if AMC wasn't so shit and people actually watched this
to be fair AMC being desperate is probably why it got greenlit with its budget in the first place. just spread the word and make it a cult classic
Damn binge releases. I'm way too busy to go through the whole season right now but all the discussion is happening. I'm gonna try and make another thread this Sunday for the other slow viewers like me.
I wanted to watch in two sets of 4 but I just couldn't help binging. I really dug Arcane's 3 acts three sets approach. Felt like a great balance of suspense and engagement for the format.
>You know, to be honest... I think we were making nukes...
that feels like a 2nd gig reference but evidence does not identify it as a 2nd gig refrence
weird
So... how woke is this show now that Season 2 is out?
Black female astronaut + her sister is as woke as it gets. S2 has a UK-Iran-Israel love triangle (only partially kidding) which as as much accusatory as it is woke.
>Black female astronaut
She got rejected last minute if I remember S1 correctly so she is not an astronaut which is part of the reason she is so gung-ho about uploading.
>her sister
The hell was woke about her?
And the Middle East stuff has nothing to do with wokeness. Two mortal enemies setting aside their difference to fight a bigger threat is an age old trope.
Nothing egregious. There is a single frame image that flashes on screen for a millisecond that includes gay weddings, but that was in the context of catching a character up to speed on the history he missed while in stasis. There's also a still of Trump being sworn in with some in the background looking confused.
>There is a single frame image that flashes on screen for a millisecond that includes gay weddings
So this image still applies?
I don't know if you want to count it or not. Like I said, it is a single frame in a series of flash stills. If you blink you miss it. The only reason I saw it was because I played the part frame-by-frame, and in the context of the scene it was not promoting homosexuality, it was to get a character up to speed on what he missed.
Well... I suppose we can still use that image then when someone complains about gays in cartoons
Honestly I'm surprised the twist for the assassin wasn't that he was gay when they fused.
Kys
what? we are begging for nonwoke shows, are we not?
I guess this show is still unpopular
Not enough characters to have shipBlack person autism over, nor not enough underage girls/guys and/or furry/demon/non-human characters for the typical Cinemaphiletard to fap over.
I thought the usual fangirl crowd would be all over Caspian. He ticks a lot of their boxes.
>moody/broody/angsty
>tragic backstory
>capable
>emotionally vulnerable
>teen
>tall
How is the Zuko crowd not all over him?
Airing on AMC+ killed all potential interest in this.
They are on Tiktok
Also jacked as shit
I love Caspian, but probably because it's a good show that takes you knowing about a obscure streaming service to even watch and that's unfortunate
It's on amazon
It's been on Amazon for like a day and only in certain parts of the world.
Finished episode 3 of the new season, and I fricking hated that family. Two dumb ass needlessly unlikeable sassy black women that always spoke down to caspian and maddie, A pathetic dad that was ready to kill two teenagers, and two retarted annoying theiving kids. And how tf are they both white as shit when they have a black mother? shit was dumb. I hope that was the last of shit like that in the next episodes.
She's their stepmom.
what safesurf is running in my opinion is not even a simulation he became time space itself, he evolved with the help of the aliens god like race to a point that even a dyson spheres, simulations is a thing from the past, he became a literal supernatural GOD, like biblical god, so safeguard timetravel back in time to meet God maddie (compared to safeguard Maddie is primitive inferior god that still need hardware to exist
If SafeSurf is not the only god interfering with the timeline as is implied, then that would require multiple realities for the other gods to mold or else there would be conflict amongst them. And if a being can observe outside the universe, see all possible outcomes, and apply change, then that reality is in effect a simulation even if it is the "real world" which I think was the point of the ending and why Maddie saw her godhood as a facade and chose to live a normal life of bliss with Caspian.
Caspian must have saved SafeSurf on his own originally, but GodMaddie had her dad intervene because she had to be sure this simulation would produce the results she needed because she was nearing the deadline she got from Caspian right before he died.
That ending was depressing as hell, like she's not even with her orginal biological or UI family just a selectively bred replica of them. Still quite confused on if there's infinite recursion with multiverses within each recursion or if there is any hint of a base reality where Caspian saves SafeSurf without David. Honestly ends on some purgatory shit.
Caspian would have had to enlightened SafeSurf without David originally so SafeSurf could ascend and then time travel back to speak through Caspian to deliver the message to Maddie which motivates her to carry on and resurrect Caspian through her simulation a 100,000 years later.
Are those planet destroying cubes Maddie uses to clear out her personal solar system based on any pre-existing sci-fi concept?
Also, where the hell did she get enough material to create an average star-sized Dyson sphere? She'd have to hollow out a hundred thousand Earth sized planets to even come close and there's no way she could do that in just 117,000 years even if everything was automated.
I wouldn't worry too much about the logistics. The writers also said carbon dating was used to calculate the age of a billion year old meteor. But carbon-14 only has a half-life of around 5700 years so you can't use it to date things as old as the meteor.
Nanomachines, son.
Nanomachines can't create new matter out of nothing and they can't help you travel faster through the void of space to collect material from other star systems.
I kind of felt bad for Pope. Yes, he did terrible things, but it is because of those terrible things that flawless UIs are possible. I think he should have been allowed to live in the world he helped create where billions of people are now living in paradise thanks to his machinations.
The whole willing to kill millions bit fricked any sympty he deserved up.
That was Holstrom. Pope was in prison by then.
He was kool aid drinker. He'd of willing helped with it just like the woman. That is just how his type is.
He was basically Steve Jobs, so frick him
I felt bad until he murdered billions of them like a terrorist
Only hundreds of millions.
Whatever happened to Caspian's fake dad? Last we see him was in Norway.
Also, the admin UIs said Caspian was the last of the original pantheon. If that is true, then what happened to the black astronaut lady? We know she made it out okay and even briefed the government on what happened after Caspian's "death."
Cary more than likely stayed in Norway to be captured by the feds and rat out Logarithms.
And Joey could’ve died during one of the Human attacks on the data centres.
I’d like to believe the fake dad made it in the UI world as an irony of being the only one of Holstrom’s gang who became immortal.
Funny, waching Caspian talking with the human gov heads that they are selfish for not allowing the UI to finish the space elevator and with good points in a way makes Holstrom kinda right and he in fact kinda of won the argument.
The UI are the best thing that happpened not just for humanity but earth.
Caspian never disagreed with Holstrom's goal, only his method for achieving it.
Holstrom wanted UIs to replace humans while the people who killed him made a future where UIs helped regular people, and viceversa.
That’s what the UI lady who died last season wanted to happen.
I wish we saw more of Chanda and Justine
I'm making a Chanda fanedit, who's with me?
>last episode
Holy shit that escalated quickly.
Last two episodes probably should have been their own series, but considering the circumstances of the show's release it's a miracle we even got an ending, so I'm satisfied. And they managed to make it fit anyway, didn't feel (too) rushed.
Anyone else extremely paranoid about being in a simulation now and can't stop thinking about it?
Besides that I really liked this show.
That's the basis of many religions, including buddhism, that reality is just an illusion. You should look into spirituality some time
I wouldn't worry about it anon.
t. Fellow Human
Even if we are in a simulation anon, your life is no less real. You feel, think, and breath in this space. All of your life has taken place in it, in all ways that matter this is your life. Even if it is an illusion the illusion is real to you.
Enjoy your life when you can anon, and I will do the same.
The concept gives me a sense of comfort. I used to have a fear of death and the unknown, but it lessened over the years. Although frick looping the same singular lifetime.
Reminds me of the end of Fire Punch.
I need to actually watch the second season. I missed out on all the discussion. This is probably going to be the only real discussion thread we end up getting.
Make another one but more outrageous
i also have thoughts about ''season 3'' (episodes 7 and 8), i cant take from my mind the idea the writers originally hoped for maybe a season 3 and had a much larger idea.
like a season dedicated to a debate about living in the real world with your biological body accepting death vs be a immortal digital god.
i have the feeling the writers wanted that with the conflict between Maddie and david Jr
imo the clearest indication that 7/8 weren't meant to be the end of this season is what mist says to caspian at the end of 6.
"It took time to extract each bit of the antiviral, but I think I got all of it""
Then immediately next episode "Safesurf is in your code and will kill you in a couple days unless you underclock."
Like Safesurf killing him was meant to be a mid season twist but they didn't have the time frame so just dumped it.
There's a bunch of stuff that wasn't addressed. I think the original plan (that nobody on the team will probably admit to) was for this to be a 3 season show and they sliced out a bunch of dangling plotlines to get the finale. Things like the Israeli-Iranian CI showing up out of nowhere and introducing himself as something greater and Chanda grinning as he died which to me was him using clones to be immortal because he was the first CI to really dive into self-propagation and his army of ghouls just kind of disappeared.
I can’t watch the rest til tomorrow, so I’m gonna need you guys to keep it going to a new thread.
What the frick I'm watching Nardo now??
