Walking to the store is illegal in the US. You need to hop in your six wheeled SUV with a pride flag and BLM sticker and drive 652 miles, 7 furlongs and 2 calf feet to the seven stories All American Multiplex Wallmart where you will buy 2 quarts and 3 gils of onions "milk". Don't forget to clap in front of the Wall of Heroes.

It's hilarious to me how so many things that are attributed to "dumb redneck Americans" are actually the fault of overbearing liberal frickheads. Like our "obsession" with big trucks actually being the consequence of CAFE regulations basically outlawing small or compact trucks and utility vehicles.

In a way it really is impressive that they managed to build a community with nice houses in the middle of the desert.
I guess the community in question just looks very off from its surrounding, none of you would be seething if it was some 11th century mud house from Morocco or Iran, which ironically is inferior in every way to an American suburb when it comes to quality of life
Just another case of "it's bad when America does it"

      Anonymous

not that its 'bad' but unnatural and unimpressive
you can build these places today pretty much anywhere as any water req'd can just be pumped in
those old desert towns/villages needed a naturally occurring water source to develop around and any future prospects of that town depended entirely on the functionality of that water source

        Anonymous

Except the same spastics will basedface over castles, too. The more fortified castles had water pumps in the form of servant wenches to fetch buckets from wells. Or they'll laud Roman architecture, which made heavy use of aqueducts to cram as many plebs as possible into little cubes.

but you literally can't build a qasbah in the American desert...

Yes you can, it's just not practical

Quality of life comes entirely from accessible amenities, not from living in a cardboard American house. That Kasbah with access to shops and jobs would be infinitely superior to that ugly ass suburb.

        Anonymous

The American suburb is superior simply for the fact that it has air conditioning and the kasbah doesn't. The fact that it also has better accessible amenities than the kasbah makes it leagues better.

          Anonymous

You could build AC into the Kasbah

          Anonymous

You mutts only need AC because you live in cardboard houses with walls so thin you can punch through it. Traditional homes in desert cultures are built to last and provide shade and cool passively

  34. 1 month ago

A town is segregated by aliens to a pocket dimension in the desert and left for 1000 years in a sort of mouse paradise experiment where the aliens provide water, food, power, building materials for them in exchange for menial labour, which is running on a treadmill (certain amount of km can be exchanged for certain things). The aliens study both the sociological and technological changes in the town over such a time, which slowly regresses in to a medieval style feudal system where one family slowly gains influence and power via the Matthew effect snowballing their power and influence over the other. They are the first family to discover the treadmill and begin to hoard the food, water etc provided (its given via a hatch next to the treadmill). women are pretty much converted in to property to breed for this family and most of the other males are worker underclass. There begins an ever-increasingly strict rule of law and people who attempt to dethrone or even badmouth the family get killed. The first batch of humans in the town are obviously at first confused and horrified by their situation but slowly become accustomed to it and it normalizes. They pass down stories of the world outside the town and eventually the world itself becomes worshipped as a kind of afterlife/heaven and the inhabitants of the town cant imagine a world where you have even a dozen miles to roam. The hatch becomes a sacred place also and the family that rule live next to it and the treadmill. They make others do the running, and there are even specified runners that train from birth to just run on the treadmill as fast as possible. They work out the best way to do it is to have runners run flat out for 30 mins. the architecture of the town slowly changes and they begin building vertically until the town becomes a Kowloon like maze. Some people try climbing through the food delivery hatch but they never get mutch further than a mile or so (the hatch is straight upwards).

also note the town is blocked by an invisible wall around it. The people cannot get out. The aliens being the ones causing this shown to the viewer until the end so the viewer is in the dark about the cause of the town as well until the end. the viewer never sees the aliens. The film ends with an uprising/massacre from the worker underclass and. the aliens end the experiment, the town is shown to be one of many towns put under thousands of different conditions and the camera pulls out to show a strange viewing window with hundreds/thousands of towns. A glimpse of some other towns are shown. One town is on fire, one town is in frozen and shown to be in extremely cold conditions. One town has some kind of other species mixed in with humans. One town is deliberately kept with no technology but is given an abundance of food. One town is shown to consist of nothing but children, implying the aliens are artificially stopping them from ageing. The experiment on the original town is ended and is teleported to a random habitable planet shown not to be earth as there are two moons. The aliens are basically abducting people, experimenting on them in infinite number of ways and then casting them to random planets once finished.

also the camera is the aliens. This is shown at the end as the camera shifts from one town to the other seamlessly like a drone, implying that it has an omnipotent like access to any angle of viewing. This could perhaps be hinted at throughout the film with certain angles/style of cinematography or drone-like motions of the camera moving from one place to another. Different years would also be segregated to different chapters as the story progresses.
