Please explain this pop culture phenomenon

>Ginger is a pirate who lives in the Caribbean or Tropical adjacent setting
Why is this a common trope? The only Caucasians that can handle the heat and humidity are Brunettes. So Pippy should have Brown Hair.

The presence of pirates does not transform a temperate climate to a tropical one.

                were they gingers?

                Anonymous

Some of them were, probably. Celtic pirates were also all over the English Channel, Irish Sea, and North Channel. Pirates exist everywhere there's a) people sailing, and b) a narrow area to funnel ships in while allowing the pirates to hide. They got associated with the Caribbean because that was the most lawless area during the colonial period, but piracy has existed ever since people invented boats.

I have a Cinemaphilerelated conspiracy theory about Miss Fortune/Katarina. A lot of League of Legends early champions look eerily similar to Joe Madureira's Battle chasers characters, and the comic would have predated the game by some time. Specifically Red Monika shares a lot of design similarities with Miss Fortune and Katarina, including her romance wtih the the big muscular swordsman Garen/Garrison (even the names are similar there). Later, Joe mad releases the Battle Chaser game which lands his company the job of producing the League of Legends rpg. My conspiracy is that League either stole or heavily borrowed the designs from Joe Mad and either as fans or as repayment gave his company the job of producing that rpg since they knew his style would fit their vision of character design. I have 0 proof for this of course, but the similarities in character design between early LoL and Battle Chasers seems too close to be coincidence.

It's a holdover from pirate tales popular in the 1800s and early 1900s, where red hair was associated with Irish, Scotch and other ethnic phenotypes heavily associated with "lower class" in art and literature from anglophone countries.
