Post and discuss your favorite Simpsons episodes. I like Homerpalooza. What was the absolute last good episode of the series? I know some people saying that some of the new stuff was actually okay because they got a new writer in but I didn't exactly trust that line enough to want to see them.

Trilogy of Error in S12 was one of six episodes worth watching that season, and was the last episode worth watching
>be kid when this episode aired
>be grown adult now
>have no kids to teach about my boring dinosaur music
is there any boomer humor that aged well?
rockin
Homer goes to College and the X Files crossover are the two episodes I always come back to.
Last Exit to Springfield
And Maggie Makes Three
Homer's Odyssey
Simpson And Delilah
Principal Charming
Old Money
Bart The Murderer
Bart The Lover
Marge On The Lam
Summer Of 4 Ft.2
Trilogy of Error
Which I believe was some sort of hovercraft.
Haha classic
One anon believes the end of the simpsons was when they went to Japan
with absolutely no evidence presented before me, I have no choice but to conclude that this anon is entirely correct
It's certainly possible.
yeah, that episode sucks
Nah its gone some pretty funny lines
What happened to comedy?
hostile takeover by trust fundies
The Tree House of Horror episodes really were pretty good for a while.
The comic they put out is pretty good too.
Homerpalooza is funny in that it rips on the proto-woke liberals of the late 90s, but the lazy cameos aren't much better than the Lady Gaga one that everybody hated.
It was still somewhat novel back then. I think it's pretty different in context.
The early seasons did guest stars so much better. Having them play an original character with a big role in the specific story was so much better than just lazily name dropping them. Even the way the guest starred Michael Jackson avoided this and was better for it. That episode would be nothing like it is if they just played Michael Jackson visits the Simpsons completely straight. Lisa goes Gaga is essentially a soulless and completely inferior version of the same episode, which pretends that Lady Gaga is anywhere near the level of star that MJ was.
>early seasons did guest stars so much better.
Agreed. I loved the Jemes Woods cameo where he is working at the Quick E Mart studying for a part. Really funny and well done.
Forgot to list my favorite episode. It's hard to pick but i know growing up a huge James Bond fan that "Last Exit to Springfield" was it. "Bart vs Australia" is also up there.
>I loved the Jemes Woods cameo where he is working at the Quick E Mart studying for a part. Really funny and well done.
it hurts that we'll never get to see his movie about the jittery eskimo firefighter tho
The Nimoy, MJ, and others in the earlier seasons were kino. But at a certain point it just seems like you're fellating the guest star, which is the vibe I got with Billy Corgan and the Smashing Pumpkins, and then Baldwin and Gaga later on.
I have a few different reasons for watching the Simpsons, and therefore a few different picks. If I want to laugh,
>The PTA Disbands S6
>Last Exit to Springfield S4
>22 Short Films About Springfield S7
>Homer vs the 18th Amendment S8
>Bart the Murderer S3
>Whacking Day S4
>Lemon of Troy S6
>Bart's Comet S6
>Bart the Daredevil S2
>Homie the Clown S6
>Mr Plow S4
>You Only Move Twice S8
>Mountain of Madness S8
>King-Size Homer S7
All chosen for being hilarious and showing off why the Simpsons is such a great show for the variety, density, and wittiness from set piece jokes to whole plots. The top 4 are laugh a minute nonstop fun.
For comfy nostalgia,
>Krusty Gets Busted S1
>Three Men and a Comic Book S2
>The Telltale Head S1
>Bart on the Road S7
>Bart the General S1
>Bart of Darkness S6
>Summer of 4ft2 S7
Obviously way more kid focused, particularly Bart focused. Bart is the heart and soul of comfy Simpsons, at least for my generation. Pre 9/11 childhood focused stories are gigacomfy. These are also weighted more the soulful early years of the show.
Mushy gooey saccharine schmaltz
>Homer and Lisa and the 8th Commandment S2
>Lisa the Greek S3
>Marge Be Not Proud S7
>Homer the Heretic S4
>Lisa's Substitute S2
>Bart gets and F S2
Again more kid focused episodes mostly from the earlier years. I'm especially fond of Homer and Lisa, as a character pairing, at least before they ruined Lisa later on

>What was the absolute last good episode of the series?
Good? Maybe "Behind the Laughter" ? Would have also been a decent final episode as well. If you asked what was the last "Great" episode I would have said "Homer vs New York" which debuted season 9 but was actually a hold over from season 8 which is probably why it stands out so well against everything else that came out that season.
for me its
>The Springfield Files
>Grade School Confidential
>The Last Temptation of Homer
>The PTA Disbands
>And Maggie Makes Three
top 5 atm
when do yall think the simpsons goes downhill? i haven't watched past season 9 in its entirety. ive seen principal and the pauper and the episode where Maude Flanders dies, so its definetly before that lol
>when do yall think the simpsons goes downhill?
Although passable Season 9 was the first large noticeable step down but upon rewatch a few years back I saw that the cracks were starting to form during season 8.
9 was a huge downgrade from 8 but still mostly enjoyable. 10 is significantly worse and 11 has almost nothing of worth besides Behind the Laughter. The dropoff was in 1999-2000 and it was precipitous. Look at the episode list for season 13 from 2001 and try to find anything you would voluntarily watch.
This sounds pretty spot on tbph, but frick me if I don't still remember a few episodes up until season 16. Took me a long time finally drop the show.
The Blunder Years
Jaws Wired Shut
Weekend at Bernsies
I don't hate and can stomach to rewatch.
the one with the Sneed's Feed and Seed Formerly Chuck's scene
Do Zoomgroids really watch just for the memes?
I had a vhs tape as a kid of the Shining parody treehouse of horror. One of the best treehouse of horrors imo.

Homerpalooza is a bad episode and I'm tired of pretending it's not.
Bullshit. The episode rocks.
found the narc
HAAATE CRIME
No one is asking you to pretend
Is that the one with The Smashing Pumpkins? I remember that one sucked ass. For me though, it's Homer Badman.
Homer at the bat and the Burn's casino one.
I miss Phil Hartman
I'm hungover and dumb. Wut simpsons should I watch?
Fish Named Selma is my favorite, it's just wall to wall Hartman kino.
Idk what I'd call the last actually good episode since there's a few decent ones here and there in the seasons after 10, but I always stop my rewatches at that dogshit Alec Baldwin episode.
