the novel isnt about asians killing whites. its mostly asians plotting (30%) and asian women lusting after white man, which is tbh 70% of the book

      Anonymous

This is mostly a story about samurai killing each other and occasionally themselves. Blackthorne is one of 2 white people who are in any way consequential to the plot, and I don't think the two of them wrack up even a double digit body count

sorry your a fricking idiot, in that scene they have killed the last of her guards, its a whole honor thing where one guard fights until he's killed then the next steps up etc, once they are all dead she picks up a spear and waves it around a bit before they grab her

You don't have to buy it, the source material is a 45 year old book and Mariko is resisting arrest. She's a samurai's wife, killing her would be an irreparable diplomatic violation

are you an idiot? thats how the scene goes in the book, all her guards are killed she picks up a spear and waves it around for a few seconds before they take her, they have to be very careful to not only not harm her but also make sure she doesn't harm herself, it still takes less then a minute once her guards are dead

what book did you read? MC doubts even that Christ is a God. Meanwhile every single catholic is at the very least treacherous schemer. They do save his life but strictly because they cannot kill at that point, as it would be politicaly inconvenient and he is being protected by Toranaga. Spanish sailors are all dirty and grimy and even the old priest in prison would have MC killed if he knew he wasnt catholic

And where Anjin is humane even to his enemies, catholics are either drooling rappists with inquisition right behind them or efeminate priests with honey and poison on their tongues

                >Spanish sailors are all dirty and grimy
well yea so were the dutch and so was anjin until he started taking regular baths, thats a cultural distinction nothing to do with religion, the japs comment on the koreans and indians as being filthy too

true, but where anjin is able to enjoy tkaing baths, jesuit priests, who have been for years in japan didnt, even if it would be beneficial for them

                >Did you bothered to read your shit? You literally listed evidence that people bathed and washed just the same as before.
The first modern shower was built in 1767 in England, and had a pump that pushed water into a vessel above a person’s head. A chain was pulled to release the water. However, showers didn’t catch on as there was still no indoor pipe systems to bring in the water.

In Victorian times the 1800s, those who could afford a bath tub bathed a few times a month, but the poor were likely to bathe only once a year.

Given the many plagues of the Middle Ages, it makes sense that people would be a bit squeamish about hygiene—but by the 1700s, royals had gotten the memo that their lavish living spaces should at least include spaces for bathing.

Hand-washing before entering the great hall for a meal was standard. During the crusades, knights brought soap from the East. Prior to that people used water only and the oils from flowers.
In chambers, people had basins of water for washing the face and hands, and maybe a more intimate part of themselves…
Rivers, lakes, ponds, etc… were used to taking dips and rinsing the filth from one’s body.
Elizabeth I, is said to have had a bath once a month. She herself also restored the bath houses in Bath, England.
During Regency times bath houses and sea bathing became popular. In the homes of the wealthy they bathed in copper tubs lined with linen. The poorer if they had a wooden barrel would bathe in them.

So in the end. people bathed, washed themselfs and their clothes, used scented oils and other shit. Yet in your head everyone was dirty like pigs. Just because queen didnt wanted to bath and poor people cant afford to bath everyday so they washed themselfs instead.

so in short people didn't bathe often and would stink like if your washing your face everyday but never your underarms

I know, dipshit. You're just avoiding the point. In that post you said it concerns 1400-1500, which isn't true, and you've been talking about 16th century queen Elizabeth I of England in support of this idea that is directly contested by that 16th century evidence of widespread bathing.

The same is said of her successor James VI so that extends it into the 17th century anyway but more to the point people other than her apparently did bathe if there's substantial in period evidence for it.

A central conflict within Mariko's character is her dual loyalty to Christianity and to Toranaga. She only conceptually grasps the concept of accepting Christ as a ticket to Heaven and otherwise continues being a dutiful wife to her samurai husband and retainer to her powerful daimyo

Btw what is the point of askin me for direct quotes from some page? i find it very funny to writtte up but am not sure what your point is. Are you trying to prove i dont have the physical copy? because i dont. Also my masterfull usage of english might have fooled you, but even if i had a copy on hand, it wouldnt be in english.

yes I know it would be in spanish, obviously, I am proving that not only have I read the book I have always owned a copy for my entire life and maybe you should stop arguing with me about a novel I have read so many times I always for decades have had a copy so I can re-read some part w/e I feel like it, its so cheap you could buy it for $2, sry pesos at any book store anywhere in the world, why would you ever attempt to argue with someone who at any given time has the book on hand? the answer of course is because your a smelly filthy beaner who has never won at anything and never will and so will sperg endlessly about being btfo because you simply can't accept it and move on, common with the moronic and similarly mentally disadvantaged

I already read it and it wasnt that good. But as you can see i remember basicaly everything about the book. I have yet to see your btfo. We dont get acid rain here, so no idea what you are talking about. Probably from your physical copy of shogun too.
Also the book can be written in mexican or english so its not hard to follow right?

no it can't translate the nuance thats no doubt how you got it so wrong,or it would be if you were say spanish, but as your a filthy dirty mutt with a sub normal iq your reading comprehension is lacking which compounds the issue massively , in essence you are so uneducated and semi-illiterate you couldn't understand the narrative at all and instead made up a story in your head because the words on the page confused and angered you.

It's only a secret masterpiece because it exists under the radar to anyone not keen to it by word of mouth. I won't even go so far as to call it a masterpiece except as a triumph of CG-less filmmaking that uses thousands of actual extras instead of copy-pasting groups of people in places.

"Shogun" is a fantastic novel ("Tai-Pan" is my favorite but all of Clavell's stuff is good) and the 1980 miniseries is very good and worth watching.

Hard to tell from the trailer vid what changes the new miniseries makes to the story, though there is no lesbian scene in the book and the shot where the peasant does the Sign of the Cross and gets his head chopped off, didn't happen either (the peasant isn't Christian and is killed for rising off his knees too early and thus offending the samurai).

It looks cool at least, I'll check it out.
