Honestly I've been betrayed by trailers so much now I dont look forward to anything any more. If it's a good movie I'm happy to be surprised and if it (more than likely) sucks then I don't feel bad
Yeah and if you believe it's going to be a legit series and not a movie stretches out over 6 or 8 hours then I have a time share you should buy (it's a great deal!)
This is mostly a story about samurai killing each other and occasionally themselves. Blackthorne is one of 2 white people who are in any way consequential to the plot, and I don't think the two of them wrack up even a double digit body count
That shot of several armed men backing away nervously from a single diminutive woman wearing one of those dresses that keep her legs from moving free at all....
Yeap the 'modern audience' pandering is already jeopardizing this fricker.
Sorry I'm not buying it. They have her outnubered at least 10-1 and surrounded on all sides. In the real world taking her alive would have been a breeze, but girl power gotta girl power I guess.
sorry your a fricking idiot, in that scene they have killed the last of her guards, its a whole honor thing where one guard fights until he's killed then the next steps up etc, once they are all dead she picks up a spear and waves it around a bit before they grab her
You don't have to buy it, the source material is a 45 year old book and Mariko is resisting arrest. She's a samurai's wife, killing her would be an irreparable diplomatic violation
are you an idiot? thats how the scene goes in the book, all her guards are killed she picks up a spear and waves it around for a few seconds before they take her, they have to be very careful to not only not harm her but also make sure she doesn't harm herself, it still takes less then a minute once her guards are dead
I don't care about the book, I'm looking at a trailer about a TV show one a TV/Movie board.
The trailer explicitly has a different intention in showing this scene as it is.
thats exactly what they do except they are clearly smarter then you because one guy grabs the spear then the others rush her quickly so she doesn't get a chance to kill herself with her little knife
no it isn't at all, the only "bad" one is the first one he meets, father alvito and the rest of them are actually very decent people and save his life more then once, out of the europeans the only bad one is the captain of the black ship, how the frick did you read sho-gun and come away with >christians bad
what book did you read? MC doubts even that Christ is a God. Meanwhile every single catholic is at the very least treacherous schemer. They do save his life but strictly because they cannot kill at that point, as it would be politicaly inconvenient and he is being protected by Toranaga. Spanish sailors are all dirty and grimy and even the old priest in prison would have MC killed if he knew he wasnt catholic
nta but even with all this how the frick do you get the takeaway 'christians bad' from some normal novel style drama like this?

>Spanish sailors are all dirty and grimy
well yea so were the dutch and so was anjin until he started taking regular baths, thats a cultural distinction nothing to do with religion, the japs comment on the koreans and indians as being filthy too

>Did you bothered to read your shit? You literally listed evidence that people bathed and washed just the same as before.
The first modern shower was built in 1767 in England, and had a pump that pushed water into a vessel above a person’s head. A chain was pulled to release the water. However, showers didn’t catch on as there was still no indoor pipe systems to bring in the water.
In Victorian times the 1800s, those who could afford a bath tub bathed a few times a month, but the poor were likely to bathe only once a year.
Given the many plagues of the Middle Ages, it makes sense that people would be a bit squeamish about hygiene—but by the 1700s, royals had gotten the memo that their lavish living spaces should at least include spaces for bathing.
Hand-washing before entering the great hall for a meal was standard. During the crusades, knights brought soap from the East. Prior to that people used water only and the oils from flowers.
In chambers, people had basins of water for washing the face and hands, and maybe a more intimate part of themselves…
Rivers, lakes, ponds, etc… were used to taking dips and rinsing the filth from one’s body.
Elizabeth I, is said to have had a bath once a month. She herself also restored the bath houses in Bath, England.
During Regency times bath houses and sea bathing became popular. In the homes of the wealthy they bathed in copper tubs lined with linen. The poorer if they had a wooden barrel would bathe in them.

>always for decades have had a copy so I can re-read some part w/e I feel like it,
lol. thats pretty funny. Normal people have like a bible or whatever but you have shitty antichristian weeb smut . I have no desire to own physical copy. I already read it and it wasnt that good. But as you can see i remember basicaly everything about the book. I have yet to see your btfo. Being too stupid to see themes and narratives isnt books fault anon. Here in Mexico city even 10 years old senioritas would get it

You do that, otherwise Clavel might put you in his next weeb ero book.
We dont get acid rain here, so no idea what you are talking about. Probably from your physical copy of shogun too.
Also the book can be written in mexican or english so its not hard to follow right?

>written in mexican
their is no language called "mexican" you smelly beaner you speak bastardized spanish >so a translation isnt hard to follow right?
no it can't translate the nuance thats no doubt how you got it so wrong,or it would be if you were say spanish, but as your a filthy dirty mutt with a sub normal iq your reading comprehension is lacking which compounds the issue massively , in essence you are so uneducated and semi-illiterate you couldn't understand the narrative at all and instead made up a story in your head because the words on the page confused and angered you.

you werent able to disprove withy your physical copy a single point i wrotte. You are also a child keeping shogun ready because you never grew up beyond YA novels. If all you have left is anti mexican bigotry, i will ocnsider our conversation concluded.

Its going to be shit.
It's only a secret masterpiece because it exists under the radar to anyone not keen to it by word of mouth. I won't even go so far as to call it a masterpiece except as a triumph of CG-less filmmaking that uses thousands of actual extras instead of copy-pasting groups of people in places.
This isn't Kino because it's in fcking English. And yet again they insert a bunch of b level white actors into Samurai Japan. Just make a fricking Japanese Samurai show with Japanese people in it. Is that so hard?
So in summation >history is a long time >Europe is a big place >bathing came in-and-out of fashion based on time and place >bathing practices and frequency varied wildly >some places had popular public baths at the same time other places didn't >It decline drastically during the 16th century for numerous reasons >it became ubiquitous across europe in the 19th century due to the advent of germ theory
>bathing came in-and-out of fashion based on time and place >bathing practices and frequency varied wildly
no they didnt. human simply cannot exist without cleaning themselves, especialy if you are doing hard labour
>t. embarrassed he had smelly ancestors who didn't bathe regularly
Sorry bro, you're going to either cope with reality or continue to live in your fairy tale world.
yes precisely and to make things even more confusing even though I keep banging on about how Elzabeth would only bathe once a months she was also the monarch that brought public bath houses back, so try and work that one out
the guy is talking about early modern period thoughbeit, i did check and the 1 article i skimmed said that king louis didnt bathe, and that nobles thought having clean clothes underneath was enough
in the exact same article they tell that people washed hands, legs and other places including pubes every day. I dont see you jetting a jacuzzy soak every day mb you are dirty pig too?
yeah i wasnt saying im agreeing with it, and i wouldnt trust any article in the first place, until someone shows me a historical paper with references and 1st hand accounts then i will consider early modern personal hygiene customs the exact same as medieval period, aka diligent bathing and high personal hygiene standards
"Shogun" is a fantastic novel ("Tai-Pan" is my favorite but all of Clavell's stuff is good) and the 1980 miniseries is very good and worth watching.
Hard to tell from the trailer vid what changes the new miniseries makes to the story, though there is no lesbian scene in the book and the shot where the peasant does the Sign of the Cross and gets his head chopped off, didn't happen either (the peasant isn't Christian and is killed for rising off his knees too early and thus offending the samurai).
nope sorry would you like me to find the exact passage? it is explained early on that he wouldn't bow because Omi had insulted the priest of the village
Yasuke is so fricking cool, if they made a good series about him (basically just Nobunaga's ambition told from an outsiders perspective) it would be so fantastically based holy shit.
I saw the announcement for this series on some Asian-American social media pages like Nextshark, and the comments were full of stereotypical "little Asian man syndrome" posters whining about how this is going to be a series about Asian women getting dicked down by a "white savior" since the showrunners are a WMAF couple.

Honestly I've been betrayed by trailers so much now I dont look forward to anything any more. If it's a good movie I'm happy to be surprised and if it (more than likely) sucks then I don't feel bad
it literally says "series" in the poster
Yeah and if you believe it's going to be a legit series and not a movie stretches out over 6 or 8 hours then I have a time share you should buy (it's a great deal!)
you're a fricking idiot, I suppose mini-series aren't series either right?
That depends, are we talking about something like Band of Brothers or Hijack (2023)?
how about shogun 1980s
no idea what hijack is but band of brothers is not a min-series its just a tv series
>white men killing asians
>kino
no
wake me up when its whites killing whites
the novel isnt about asians killing whites. its mostly asians plotting (30%) and asian women lusting after white man, which is tbh 70% of the book
Yeap the 'modern audience' pandering is already jeopardizing this fricker.
they are trying not to kill her, she is trying to force them to kill her
Sorry I'm not buying it. They have her outnubered at least 10-1 and surrounded on all sides. In the real world taking her alive would have been a breeze, but girl power gotta girl power I guess.
sorry your a fricking idiot, in that scene they have killed the last of her guards, its a whole honor thing where one guard fights until he's killed then the next steps up etc, once they are all dead she picks up a spear and waves it around a bit before they grab her
this is poor bait but if you harm her your entire family gets slaughtered, even messing up her makeup, tearing her robe, blah blah
You don't have to buy it, the source material is a 45 year old book and Mariko is resisting arrest. She's a samurai's wife, killing her would be an irreparable diplomatic violation
Because that many men can't overpower her without hurting her. Stop pretending.
are you an idiot? thats how the scene goes in the book, all her guards are killed she picks up a spear and waves it around for a few seconds before they take her, they have to be very careful to not only not harm her but also make sure she doesn't harm herself, it still takes less then a minute once her guards are dead
I don't care about the book, I'm looking at a trailer about a TV show one a TV/Movie board.
The trailer explicitly has a different intention in showing this scene as it is.
no it doesn't in fact it shows the scene exactly how it goes in the book
>I don't care about the book
I HAVE TO BE RIGHT IN ANY ARGUMENT I'M IN, NO MATTER WHAT
one man can just grab her spear with one hand and then grab her with other hand BAM she lost.
thats exactly what they do except they are clearly smarter then you because one guy grabs the spear then the others rush her quickly so she doesn't get a chance to kill herself with her little knife
they arent allowed to harm her

Watch the original, it's made of pure kinoesium. This is gonna be trash.
>Yass queen
>Christians are LE BAD
I don't think so
how did you get that impression from the trailer?
nta but christians bad is what the book is about
no it isn't at all, the only "bad" one is the first one he meets, father alvito and the rest of them are actually very decent people and save his life more then once, out of the europeans the only bad one is the captain of the black ship, how the frick did you read sho-gun and come away with
>christians bad
what book did you read? MC doubts even that Christ is a God. Meanwhile every single catholic is at the very least treacherous schemer. They do save his life but strictly because they cannot kill at that point, as it would be politicaly inconvenient and he is being protected by Toranaga. Spanish sailors are all dirty and grimy and even the old priest in prison would have MC killed if he knew he wasnt catholic
nta but even with all this how the frick do you get the takeaway 'christians bad' from some normal novel style drama like this?
all christians in it are evil dirty hobos scheming to frick over foereign land with MC blabbering about inquisition. How can you not take christians bad from it?
MC is basicaly enlightened redditor dancing with slanty eyed wolves
you are so dense, they are at war with each other, and no-one liked the spanish inquisition never not at the time not even spanish people liked it
>literally save his life multiple times
>Alvito says numerous times he wishes to be his friend and helps him on several occasions
I think it's just you who thinks christians are bad.
>Alvito says numerous times he wishes to be his friend and helps him on several occasions
because he wants to convert him to their side, they even plan it with the other jesuit. If they can convert him, they want him dead
And where Anjin is humane even to his enemies, catholics are either drooling rappists with inquisition right behind them or efeminate priests with honey and poison on their tongues
true, but where anjin is able to enjoy tkaing baths, jesuit priests, who have been for years in japan didnt, even if it would be beneficial for them
>Anjin is humane even to his enemies,
and so are the preists and most of the portuguese too, also the whole bathing issue is historical fact, maybe they would've benefited they choose not to, anjin if you might remember was initially forced to bathe, what the frick are you talking about? you've invented a narrative that simply isn't in the novel
>whole bathing issue is historical fact
no its not. Medieval europeans bathed regulary and washed their clothes too. Its a moronic Hollywood trope
what other hollywood movies do this that warrant calling it a trope?
no it isn't its well documented in the 1500s, they thought it would make them sick so would only risk bathing as rarely as possible
Technically 1500s is after the middle ages
no its not. medieval town commonly had bathing services.
name of the rose, kingdom of heaven, joan of arc, flesh and blood, black plague, pillars of the earth just to name a few
this isn't medieval its 1600s, my bad on last post btw I meant 1600s
dont worry, people bathed as much in 1600s as in medieval times. No one ever wanted to smell and have lice. Anjins description of his house is absurd.
no they didn't queen elizabeth for instance bathed once a month, so that was the fricking queen, the average person it was around 3 or 4 times a year, look it up bathing went out of style because of all the nonsense about it making you ill
>no they didn't queen elizabeth for instance bathed once a month
then she was very weird. common people bathed every week. Unless of course yo uare using soem weird definition of bathing
you are thinking 1200-1400, not 1600-1700s which was a time when people thought bathing would make them sick this was the time all sorts of medical "advancements" were being made and they got a lot wrong, seriously just look it up its verified by numerous sources
it really isnt, unless england worked differently, but in France everyone was bathing like a normal person
just look it up for the love of god LOOK IT UP bathing was common in the middle ages not in the 1600-1800s its in the 1800s people started bathing regularly again, for about 200 years they rarely did, like i said a few times a year, the nice thing about this time period is their is a lot of first and second hand accounts as literacy was on the rise
The novel this show is based on is THE source of basically all misconceptions westerners have about Japan.
all that stinky euros, le deep japanese spirituality, japanede steel folded 10000000 times stuff came from the book
I'm still 100% correct about bathing in the 16th 17th centuries, and just so you know the whole steel thing is addressed in gai-jin where the euros keep winning every dual with superior spanish steel until the samurai outlaw dueling because they keep getting btfo
im not saying you're wrong, im just explaining why the things are as they are in the book/movie
NTA but you have to think that average people whose day to say life involved manual, usually agricultural labour would have had to clean themselves, even if only a bucket bath rather than getting actually immersed in water.

also did you bother reading the article you posted? it exclusively discusses 1400-1500, the title is misleading you should actually read it
>also did you bother reading the article you posted?
?
this one
did you bother to actually read it?
Did you bothered to read your shit? You literally posted articles that clearly told people washed in baths and other places in 16th and 17th centuries.
yes and said over and over it was only a few times a year, during the 17th and 18th century, giving many examples and sources
The poorer if they had a wooden barrel would bathe in them.
>brought soap from the East.
man celts had soap 1k BC. there was no need to bring it from anywhere. What they brought was scented soap
its not my article why should i bother? Point is people washed and bather all the same from 14th till 19th century
yes this all backs me up as the story is set in the 1600s
https://vulgarcrowd.wordpress.com/2015/11/11/16th-century-filth-bathing-hats-and-scented-soaps/
So people painted bathing seccions but never bothered to bath and denied any hygene? Ok.
as already discussed that article covers 1450s through to 1550s, it doesn't touch on 1600s or later which is when this story is set
> article covers 1450s through to 1550s,
You know what? Go frick yourself.

How radically do you think things changed in the 32 years between that woodcut and this story. Better make it 29 years because they set out from Europe three years before the prologue.
Okay here is EXACTLY 1600

as in italy?we are talking about british dutch and portuguese
This is getting embarrassing.
lol you have no idea what your talking about do you? the story is about british dutch and portuguese, this may be hard to believe but europe is not one country and everyone does the same thing,or at least that use to be the case
So do you have any basis for believing those countries didn't bathe?
no because they did bathe, just not often especially during winter, 3 or 4 times a year would be about right
>as in italy?we are talking about british dutch and portuguese

I never said people didn't bathe I said not often
>I never said people didn't bathe I said not often
lol not my fault you couldn't keep up with the debate, also i'm stealing that gif
So in the end. people bathed, washed themselfs and their clothes, used scented oils and other shit. Yet in your head everyone was dirty like pigs. Just because queen didnt wanted to bath and poor people cant afford to bath everyday so they washed themselfs instead.
so in short people didn't bathe often and would stink like if your washing your face everyday but never your underarms
and I never said
>dirty like pigs
or implied such, you are assuming 1/2 this debate in your own head without actually reading my posts which started with the japs would've found them stinky and unwashed because they were taking baths everyday and body oder was offensive to them just like it is to us today, since we all bathe regularly, right anon?
>it doesn't touch on 1600s or later
>yes and said over and over it was only a few times a year, during the 17th and 18th century, giving many examples and sources
>I'm still 100% correct about bathing in the 16th 17th centuries,
>for the last fricking time the story is set in 1600, not 1500 not 1400, not 1800,1600
So you talk CENTURIES of EXACT FRICKING 1600? You went from people in medieval didnt bath at all to "Ah ah they just drastically declined in 1600 and later" To 'I dont care what was later then 1600!"
no i didn't I've been saying a few times a year the entire time I never once said people never bathed
That article is full of primary evidence, much of it from the 16th century, which is a lot more than anything you linked can say.
1500s is the 16th century anon, we are talking 1600 and 1700s, so 17th and 18th century
>I'm still 100% correct about bathing in the 16th 17th centuries
This is you, no?
In any event there is absolutely nothing substantive in most of those blog entry tier pop history articles.
lets make this really simple the story starts year of our lord 1600, so 17th century, now that we have that out of the way lets continue
I know, dipshit. You're just avoiding the point. In that post you said it concerns 1400-1500, which isn't true, and you've been talking about 16th century queen Elizabeth I of England in support of this idea that is directly contested by that 16th century evidence of widespread bathing.
that article exclusively talks about 1450-1550
And Elizabeth was born in 1533.
and she only bathed once a month
Elizabeth I, whom we were discussing, was born in the 16th century and lived almost all her life in it.
and the story is set in the 17th century and regardless it is well recorded she bathed once a month, your point?
The same is said of her successor James VI so that extends it into the 17th century anyway but more to the point people other than her apparently did bathe if there's substantial in period evidence for it.
>when home schooling and "alexa, summarize medieval europe in 2 sentences" combine to create the creatura de la america educationeze systematico

lol u gay
The queen Elizabeth was not medieval Europe.
Medieval period ended in 1453
did you have a point? this is elizabethan england we all know its not medieval, well except for this anon
see
>Medieval europeans bathed
>in the 1500s
see
this is elizabethan era not medieval I meant 1600s
did you forget mariko is christian? and what about rodriguez? or alvito, the whole 'filthy' things is because they don't take regular baths and the japs are bathing every day, so yea from their perspective they are filthy and stink, this has nothing to do with religion
and mariko is portrayed as evil until anjin decatholicizes her with his jade turtle head.
>rodriguez
who wants to throw him overboard and drown
>alvito
who is friendly strictly for his own benefit
you have I hope intentionally misinterpreted everything in the novel, I sure hope its intentional because damn if not you might be the dumbest mf I've seen post all month
nice argument bro. its not my fault you cant understand that literally everyone in the book is plotting and in the end anjin is nothing but a pawn on the board.
And the game is portrayed by clavel is Toranaga vs Ishido with filthy catholic hobo bum stumbling around knowing nothing, having terrible odour and being all around unpleasant
you must be autistic or simply moronic if you think mariko is ever portrayed as evil, same goes for rodregize, the only one you as a reader aren't sure of is alvito until the ride to kyoto when him and anjin hang out and he flat out declares anjin is not his enemy
did you not realize mariko was ordered to frick anjin? That it was all toranagas scheme? Also cucks her husband and commits suicide, what a christian.
oh so you just made up a plot in your head in direct contradiction to the povs of the characters, got it, no wonder you've gotten so much wrong, you just made up your own story instead
i mean its literaly in the book but sure. I cant stand surface simpletons like you. I bet you thought animal farm was about animals
it literally is not in the book, i've read it countless times since I was a kid, in fact I read it once again a few months ago, you are inventing things that never happen
yeah, i guess there isnt a scene where toranaga tells mariko go and frick anjin because we need him. Thats what you get out of context. But you have to have some intellect to do that. Are you per chance a colored gentleman?
lol so it literally is not in the book, you stupid homosexual, I'm not interested in your head canon anymore
ill take that as yes. Well this board is whites only. Please leave without making a scene
stupid moron, stop calling yourself white your an embarrassment to the rest of us
you ran out of arguments so you lower yourself to petty insults? pathetic
lmao you never had an argument to start with just your head canon, that once I pointed out was just headcanon you started calling me a Black person or some brown something, pathetic really fricking pathetic
I politely asked if you are a clored person, which you didnt deny. But tell me, why did Marika go for anjin if it wasnt for Toranaga putting them together?
because she loved him you autsitc weirdo
Sure bro, it was love at first sight. Ive seen some hobos and mmmm are they sexy right? The lice squirming in their unkempt beards, layers of dirt peeling off along with skin... iresistible. And they are also rude and speak in a language i can barely speak myself. Seems like a great reason to commit mortal sin right?
don't call me bro,you are clearly mentally ill
bro chill. You are the one defending weeboo masturbation bible. You will never be a magical girl
please keep your weirdo fantasies to yourself, thanks
bro if you have nothing to post just stop posting, its clear you havent even read the the book. Have you at least watched the show?
just stop idiot, I have read it more times then I can count it is less then a ft from me right no on my shelf, lets do a simple test, what is the second sentence on the 10th page of the book? starting from the prologue with
>the gale tore at him and he felt it bite deep within and he knew that f they did not make landfall in three days they would all be dead
your move desperate for a (you) anon
>I have read it more times then I can count
we already established you are person of colour so that doesnt mean shit.
>what is the second sentence on the 10th page of the book?
"such a bigru penisu anjin-sama you bathe and are betteru than arr those cathorics i hate so much."
Now you. Whats third sentence on page 95?
incorrect starved for (you)s anon the line counting from the prologue is
>they say francis drake sails soon
now then pg 95 counting from the prologue 3rd sentence
>after the bath she would have her hair dressed and from the money of last night there would be very much to pay off her debt to her employer...
In case your wondering simple dimwitted anon desperate for a (you) this is pretty much impossible to do without a physical copy, since its actually counting from the prologue not just the page number, that included blank unnumbered pages, stay BTFO you utter moron
>In case your wondering simple dimwitted anon desperate for a (you) this is pretty much impossible to do without a physical copy, since its actually counting from the prologue not just the page number, that included blank unnumbered pages,
are you actually braging about going through physical copy to find that line? talk about self own. Now find this qoute
>Anjin said in darkness. "shit my dirty lazy smelly wife is sitting at home with a pig living in the room. She is so stupid and religious. And bad in bed. Lazy c**t. Smelly lazy c**t.if only she was japanese and not christian" then he started cryin while marika inserted balls in his rectum
your butthurt is palpable, you've been utterly btfo close the tab and move on
now kith
butthurt? i am having a great time. You brought so many funny memories of that silly antichristian weeb book...But hey, at least its better than tai pan
>I was merely pretending to be moronic
i stand by everything i posted anon. Including calling you person of color
good for (you)
>didn't understand the book
>keeps autistically spamming 100% incorrect interpretations of the text
>calls other posters Black folk and trannies when they point out he didn't understand the book
go leave you absolute moron
No, she does it because Toranaga ordered her to civilized Blackthorne and she discovers she cares for him while she's teaching him how to bathe and how to act in front of the other Japanese
>this board is whites only.
AHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
A central conflict within Mariko's character is her dual loyalty to Christianity and to Toranaga. She only conceptually grasps the concept of accepting Christ as a ticket to Heaven and otherwise continues being a dutiful wife to her samurai husband and retainer to her powerful daimyo
>Blackthorne
>catholic
Try reading the book again, it seems like you have a really crucial misunderstanding of one of the central plot points
everyone is scheming so is anjin as you say he lies to the old jesuit in prison, that doesn't make them bad people just savvy
>Spanish sailors are all dirty and grimy
well yea so were the dutch and so was anjin until he started taking regular baths, thats a cultural distinction nothing to do with religion, the japs comment on the koreans and indians as being filthy too
cause the Portugese were allies of Spain which were at war with England
if not for Ieyasu, Wlliam would be killed
yes, but they are portrayed as unreasonable and treacherous where anjin is kind and humane. All christians in the book are evil
only from anjins pov, which is understandably biased
from readers point of view too. Just look at Anjin and Rodriguez. Rodriguez tries to kill him but Anjin is quick to frgive and saves his life
and Rodriguez is really really torn up about it, he hates doing it but they are at war and its the right move to make in a war, he still hates it and jumps at the chance to help him when Ferriera sets up the stake to burn him, you will notice 3 christians help him out in that situation, the jap priest the senior father and of course rodriguez, saying all christains are bad is simply not true at all, once you get some of alvitos povs you understand he bears no malice or ill will towards anjin either, but again they are at WAR
>you will notice 3 christians help him out in that situation
Because Torunaga would wipe the floor with them if they did. Every time they leave him alive its due to clever scheming from Toranaga. Even when they give him the vocabulary its part of some deal.
Also portrayal of Spanish sailors is beyond parody. Dirty smelly hobbost that go around murder people
you get their POV ffs, thats not what it is, you literally get the thoughts in their heads
And in their povs they are no better. I guess the smell isnt so pronounced but still.
did you crawl back after getting thrown out of this thread?
in their POVs they think about how they wish things were different and they feel like they should do more to help anjin and be more christian and forgiving, how many times do you have to get btfo before you give up spouting your nonsense headcanon you filthy beaner
>they think about how they wish things were different
no they dont lol. read the book jamal. Half of them is happy to plott anjins death, 45% think he brought it on himself and rodriguez stumbles around like a drunken fool
lol desperate for (you)s anon, you are so clueless, once more you have made up a story in your head which is not on page, you invented total shit, now then lets be honest you never read the book and only maybe watched the mini series and so have less then zero idea of whats actually going on correct?
and I think who has actually read the book vs who hasn't has already been definitively proven, would you like another test? pg 25 sentence 4,started from prologue pg
>"cook him in monkey rard samuraiu!" Cried Daimyo. "and bring me a prostitute and a boy toy, only time good samuraiu can get erect is hearing tortured screams. He wirr be dying for 3 days."!
ok beaner, glad you've learned your lesson
Btw what is the point of askin me for direct quotes from some page? i find it very funny to writtte up but am not sure what your point is. Are you trying to prove i dont have the physical copy? because i dont. Also my masterfull usage of english might have fooled you, but even if i had a copy on hand, it wouldnt be in english.
yes I know it would be in spanish, obviously, I am proving that not only have I read the book I have always owned a copy for my entire life and maybe you should stop arguing with me about a novel I have read so many times I always for decades have had a copy so I can re-read some part w/e I feel like it, its so cheap you could buy it for $2, sry pesos at any book store anywhere in the world, why would you ever attempt to argue with someone who at any given time has the book on hand? the answer of course is because your a smelly filthy beaner who has never won at anything and never will and so will sperg endlessly about being btfo because you simply can't accept it and move on, common with the moronic and similarly mentally disadvantaged
>always for decades have had a copy so I can re-read some part w/e I feel like it,
lol. thats pretty funny. Here in Mexico city even 10 years old senioritas would get it
>here in mexico city
hahahahahahahah *inhales* ahahahahahahahahaah, oh damn you stupid smelly ugly dirty beaner, hows that acid rain working out for you? must really hurt you aren't white eh? its no wonder you didn't understand the story and you can't even remember the bits you think you can, you can't even understand the written word properly, you are adorable you semi-illiterate filthy scum,
>mfw I was talking with a beaner this whole time
I feel kinda dirty tbqh with you, I'm going to take a shower
>I feel kinda dirty tbqh with you, I'm going to take a shower
You do that, otherwise Clavel might put you in his next weeb ero book.
We dont get acid rain here, so no idea what you are talking about. Probably from your physical copy of shogun too.
Also the book can be written in mexican or english so its not hard to follow right?
>written in mexican
their is no language called "mexican" you smelly beaner you speak bastardized spanish
>so a translation isnt hard to follow right?
no it can't translate the nuance thats no doubt how you got it so wrong,or it would be if you were say spanish, but as your a filthy dirty mutt with a sub normal iq your reading comprehension is lacking which compounds the issue massively , in essence you are so uneducated and semi-illiterate you couldn't understand the narrative at all and instead made up a story in your head because the words on the page confused and angered you.
you werent able to disprove withy your physical copy a single point i wrotte. You are also a child keeping shogun ready because you never grew up beyond YA novels. If all you have left is anti mexican bigotry, i will ocnsider our conversation concluded.
I disproved everything you posted, but as you are semi-illiterate you didn't understand what I said
you wish boy. all you did was screech like a forest monkey.
aww are you trying to expand your oh so limited vocabulary now? trying your hand at insults? seriously adorable or it would be if I didn't know you are a smelly illiterate beaner
wait are you a spic? this all makes so much sense now lmfao, you smelly dirty beaner
>unarmored woman surrounded by spearmen
>she's confidently strides towards them slowly
>no one just stabs her despite her being surrounded and vulnerable
>she starts spinning (that's a good trick)
>camera starts cutting quickly to try to mask how ridiculous this is
>cartoon cutting sounds she's successfully cutting them down one by one
Its going to be shit.
idiot
>Fan out
>Rush her simultaneously
>Pin her down
>Wrest the weapon from her hands
>Deliver her to your master unharmed and without taking casualties
>you smash her face into the ground when you tackle her and now shes bleeding
>you get executed the next day
hmm
Looks real good. Loved the book, liked the old tv show.
Real kino would be if they made Gaijin afterwards, which is somehow even better.
Gaijin sucks, next is tai-pan by timeline anyway
Gaijin was incredible. Haven't read the other books. I'm a japanophile, I don't have yellow fever.
if you thought gai-jin was incredible then you really should read tai-pan its waaay better
Alright, might as well. If I think 2 of his books are incredible, the rest might as well be too.asds
I was partially on board until girlboss scene.
i only watched the show
but why did he keep the name anjin-san when he was made a retainer and a samurai?
shouldn't he have gotten a real name?
probably netflix garbage. If you want real historical samurai kino go watch 1990's Heaven and Earth.
They omitted so much from the Takeda-Uesugi in this it made me sad, but it was so visually impressive.
Why does it have such low audicence scores?
Because it never got a release in the US, and to this day it's impossible to find it without janky subs.
But 6.8 on imdb seems way too low to be some sort of secret masterpiece
And the lleterboxd isn’t particularly encouraging
It's only a secret masterpiece because it exists under the radar to anyone not keen to it by word of mouth. I won't even go so far as to call it a masterpiece except as a triumph of CG-less filmmaking that uses thousands of actual extras instead of copy-pasting groups of people in places.
I didn't care, then I read it's about some white dude named Blackthorne, who is based on my favorite videogame protagonist so now I'm on board.
Wait, was this nioh char based on the Shogun protagonist?
yes its william adams the irl version of blackthorne
heh i never knew shogun was based off a real man either
i thought that was a predator on a horse from the thumbnail.
This isn't Kino because it's in fcking English. And yet again they insert a bunch of b level white actors into Samurai Japan. Just make a fricking Japanese Samurai show with Japanese people in it. Is that so hard?
no one wants to watch japs without a white lead.
So in summation
>history is a long time
>Europe is a big place
>bathing came in-and-out of fashion based on time and place
>bathing practices and frequency varied wildly
>some places had popular public baths at the same time other places didn't
>It decline drastically during the 16th century for numerous reasons
>it became ubiquitous across europe in the 19th century due to the advent of germ theory
>bathing came in-and-out of fashion based on time and place
>bathing practices and frequency varied wildly
no they didnt. human simply cannot exist without cleaning themselves, especialy if you are doing hard labour
>t. embarrassed he had smelly ancestors who didn't bathe regularly
Sorry bro, you're going to either cope with reality or continue to live in your fairy tale world.
yes precisely and to make things even more confusing even though I keep banging on about how Elzabeth would only bathe once a months she was also the monarch that brought public bath houses back, so try and work that one out
The book is typical boomer-coomer self-hating weeb-shit, but the trailer looks decent enough.
>FX
"Disney's Shōgun"
No thanks. I'll stick with the better miniseries.
can we stop talking about fricking bathing habits of the medieval era you goddamn imbeciles
Renaissance era*
the guy is talking about early modern period thoughbeit, i did check and the 1 article i skimmed said that king louis didnt bathe, and that nobles thought having clean clothes underneath was enough
in the exact same article they tell that people washed hands, legs and other places including pubes every day. I dont see you jetting a jacuzzy soak every day mb you are dirty pig too?
yeah i wasnt saying im agreeing with it, and i wouldnt trust any article in the first place, until someone shows me a historical paper with references and 1st hand accounts then i will consider early modern personal hygiene customs the exact same as medieval period, aka diligent bathing and high personal hygiene standards
>ctrl+f "netflix"
>6 results
Okay, what's the joke? Is it just shameless shilling?
>Anjin-san! Such shame! Permit me to commit sepuku this instant!
It's 99% gonna be woke but if not it may have some Nippon kino.
It looks cool at least, I'll check it out.
the peasant is christian, but yes Omi kills him because he refuses to bow
They're secret Christians and the reader doesn't find this out until near the end of the novel.
nope sorry would you like me to find the exact passage? it is explained early on that he wouldn't bow because Omi had insulted the priest of the village
No.
>the woman is hot
>she gets naked
I will watch it.
Literally me
>sitting next to that c**t Kasigi Yabu
I hope not, anon.
>Disney
move over, whyte boi. Here's the real star of the show
Didn't exist.
Yasuke is so fricking cool, if they made a good series about him (basically just Nobunaga's ambition told from an outsiders perspective) it would be so fantastically based holy shit.
Made up around the time Kwanza was.
I am not watching anything Netflix makes. Frick this trash.
are you moronic?
The Monarch girl is in it, seems to be in a lot of stuff suddenly
I want to frick that queen
me first *pushes you over*
>samurai lady
So nothing to do with the book then.
wont top le last samurai
Why did they have to make it around a white guy, it's always so cringe when shows/movies in Japan do this, I'm not gonna watch it
>Why did they have to make it around a white guy
Because it's written about a White guy.
>white hero in feudal japan
this is the representation I crave, I will now watch your show
I saw the announcement for this series on some Asian-American social media pages like Nextshark, and the comments were full of stereotypical "little Asian man syndrome" posters whining about how this is going to be a series about Asian women getting dicked down by a "white savior" since the showrunners are a WMAF couple.
>washed out grey bullshit
forgettable ugly garbage
this thread is a fricking embarrassment to society and most of you ought to cut your balls off and bleed out to save us the trouble
I hope it's a hit and they remake Tai Pan a new production of Gai Jin and remake Noble House.
