Probably my favorite movie of all time.
Sorry Cinemaphile is 100% unusable right now, thanks to twitter tourists making a billion GTA threads instead of sticking to a few.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is the closest thing we will ever get to a decent Metal Gear movie. Just use your autism imagination to pretend that Cap is Snake, and the hijacked aircraft carrier is a Metal Gear
adam curtis documentaries are the closest things to a metal gear movie
Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning reminded me a lot of MGS2 with the whole info-manipulating artificial intelligence angle.
Ha, I was thinking the same shit watching that movie. Looking forward to the finale
Metal gear is a rip off of escape from new york. Nice job exposing yourselves as normalgays who don't know anything about television or film (and watch marvel movies kek).
The actual stories are nothing alike except for the premise of a guy having to sneak somewhere under the threat of a death switch. You just outed yourself as being a moron who has never seen Escape From New York.
I think he was just thrilled to have realized that both have a one-eyed character named Snake so making that claim would surely make him sound brilliant
MGS4 has nothing to do with that though, you're a fricking idiot
now that's some bait, and i'll (you) it
lmao you don't think after 50 hours of cutscenes that huge climactic scene wasn't intentionally threadbare as a joke on the audience?
MGS2 was grand btw
I wish the bosses were nude when you defeated them like they were supposed to be.
laughing octopus is my wife
I think you could make a limited TV series out of it. Maybe not around Snake but from the POV of mercs, like Meryl's outfit.
I think you could fit MGS1+2 into a mini-series with 6-8 episodes if you trimmed some fat.
isnt that what they did with the halo show
and thats one of the reasons people hate it
Just have BiBo doing his weird stuff after 3 and before PO/PW
>People waited too long and wasted to opportunity of casting Hayter as Snake/BB.
Great game tho even it is more a movie than a game, just because the gameplay/cutscene ratio was too much
That final battle with liquid will always pop me
Real movies simply can't compete.
Hands down one of the best executed segments of any piece of media ever.
>just slowly walks forward while a cutscene plays
Truly revolutionary, Kojima is a genius
>just slowly walks forward while a cutscene plays
>Truly revolutionary, Kojima is a genius
Yes, that's why every game does it now.
been replaying mgs1, fun as hell, but I forgot how fricking dramatic everyone is. Its like a god damned soap opera with mass murder taking place during the commercials
the actual dramatic/combat cutscenes are fricking amazing. snake storming big mama's house was so good
but then you remember every other cutscene is a literal power point presentation. like rectangles with data jargon after effects scrolling background stuff while kojima just fricking rambles on and on and on and on and fricking on forever about the sop system and gw and the foxdie and he goes into fricking textbook long rants about each of these with such uninteresting autistic detail that makes you wonder, what the frick is compelling about this?
that's like the worst metal gear game though narratively
kojima was clearly just taking the piss
>ocelotmachinegun.gif
woah what an epic climax
mgs4 probably has the highest highs and lowest lows of the entire series in one game
It is, somehow, a 10/10 and a 4/10 at the same time.
>that's like the worst metal gear game though narratively
Ask me how I know you didn't play V.
nah V is really minimalist unless you listen to the tapes, and those can be pretty good as audio dramas. you have to go out of your way to get the story in that one
4 just jams it all in your face
The story of V just isn't compelling, it's essentially Kojima trolling people who wanted autistic answers to the prequel story by using 'parasites' as a catch-all like he did with nanomachines in MGS4. Big Boss having a functioning mech with human-like structure and articulation decades prior to MGS1 is stupid, the stuff with young Liquid is lame and the fact that a huge twist with the real ending is just randomly dropped into your inbox with zero fanfare is embarrassing. In terms of story it's extremely obvious that it was unfinished and rushed. Which is ultimately a shame because the gameplay is probably the best in MGS history (although I'm not a fan of open world games personally)
>it's essentially Kojima trolling people who wanted autistic answers to the prequel story
so was 4, but by V he just didn't give a shit and i think he wanted konami to fire him. i believe he would have delayed that game for years longer had they let him. it already had an incredibly long development
I will give V credit for fleshing out Huey so that he isn't just another Otacon, and also for the Paz tapes, that was creepy as frick.
I am still undecided on how I feel about Big Boss leaving Venom to eat shit for him.
I just find every plot thread in MGSV unsatisfying. I get how they work thematically, but as a story it just feels like you're dealing with some important characters and then they just frick off and are out of your life with no closure. Huey and Eli are prominent examples of this. Skullface and the final chapter are dealt with weirdly abruptly. Quiet is the only one who gets a real arc that you'd expect from a self-contained story.
it's unironically meta
the game itself is a "phantom pain", as is everything within it. it's all blueballs.
replay it with that in mind and you'll get it. it was an artistic statement
Wishful thinking, it was literally Konami kicking out Kojima 6 months before the game was done.
>ayo koji, where's fukushima? where the frick is fukushima? AYO KOJI
just play it. you think 6 months would make that much of a difference? go look at what's there. it was intentionally designed to blueball you. everything about it. the game is the player's phantom pain of metal gear itself
he had a line in policenauts calling himself a "postmodern game designer." go look at the comments he made about that chair. he knew exactly what he was doing, and he succeeded
But even with the shit he already did, you can definitely see how this was just a torture porn. Kojima claimed he didn't have time to do last chapter, but there was no way to tie it together in satisfying way in just one chapter.
I do believe that Venom finding out how he was fricked with when he already hears Solid Snake's gunfire somewhere near was always the ending.
I totally understand that, but I still would have preferred a complete narrative to "I made it incomplete on purpose"
yeah well instead you got metal gear solid v(enom) "i have no wiener and i must cum"
he's a weirdo autist artist
at least it's a really fun game, just not a fulfilling metal gear, which was the whole point
>Which is ultimately a shame because the gameplay is probably the best in MGS history
I agree, BUT they massively dropped the ball with ranking - you no longer had to do no kill runs to get S+ ranking, and the completion time was the biggest factor for the final score.
>that's like the worst metal gear game though narratively
It was until MGSV
The good parts are fricking amazing as a payoff/conclusion to the saga
As corny as it is, the final fistfight with snake and ocelot going through their iterations is still a cherished moment for me. Same as raiden turning up in Act 2, just cool shit, there's a lot of cool shit in 4, which to me is the central appeal of MGS
>this is too silly for the series with the immortal gay vampire
filtered
Chapters 1-2 are amazing
Chapters 3-4 are fun but zero replay value
Chapter 5 is garbage
chapter 5 is great though, honestly the middle is the worst. sneaking through paris fricking sucked.
outer heaven is awesome if short, the hallway scene plus raidens arrival, the fight with mantis b&b was decent, and the final fight with liquid is classic
but then ya there's like an hour and a half left in cutscenes and it kinda drags
only incredibly high iq and incredibly low iq people can appreciate the scene where meryl and johnny and having a shootout while planning their wedding
3's my favorite experience, but I love dicking around in 5. 3 does have that wacky spy film vibe though, making it so comfy. Kojima's a literal genius.
Am I the only one who thought snake eater was lame as hell? Really disliked having to fend off hunger as a game dynamic
2 is the peak of the series. 3 started the downward trend, but at the same time it's most people's first MGS game, so you'll never win that argument.
>2 is the peak of the series
That would be 1. People keep forgetting how revolutionary 1 was, on the console where synth music and characters who looked like bunch of boxes together, MGS 1 brought maybe the first ever movie experience to a game. The amount of ideas crammed into it was staggering.
I think 1 and 2 are very close in my opinion and I can fully understand your point, for me the refined gameplay and literally mindblowing ending makes 2 come out a bit ahead. Both are masterpieces though.
I played it when I was a dumb kid and I never managed to get into any trouble with the hunger system. There's shit-tons of food in virtually every map.
i always hear people complain about both hunger and camouflage but neither of those bothered me at all when playing 3. its probably my favorite of the series
people get mad about camo in 3 because you have to menu for it and it takes you out of the heckin game
lame argument imo 2bh
yeah that was good
>people get mad about camo in 3 because you have to menu for it
you also need to keep going into the menu to do shit like put on bandages and stop bleeding and fix your broken bones and shit lmao.
I liked the camo but hunger affected it too. Like my stomach growling dropped my camo rating or some shit.
the extremely OCD/and or autistic attention to detail is what helps make metal gear shine so hard
I have to agree but the mechanics bugged me, perhaps I will give it another play through, havent played it since its release. I remember loving that boss fight with the sniper in the valley
I had the opposite problem - on regular difficulties if you're decent enough at the game you can completely ignore its central mechanics, which I felt was a wasted opportunity. I probably would have enjoyed them more if they were forced on me.
You can blow up enemy storehouses and make the enemies hungry and take some of their stamina. Also, you can do stuff like kill all the people working on Shagohod and it won't be at fully health when you fight it as a boss. MGS3 is just so open ended
Why is it Cinemaphile threads about vidya are 100x better than Cinemaphile?
it helps having a board age above 15. im convinced Cinemaphile has the lowest average age of any board. the conversation there is like being at a middle school lunch table
Because Cinemaphile is about 70% culture warriors at this point.
>
It isn't. They're worse since you're dealing with shitposters with so little self control they can't even go to the right board for the kind of discussion they want. And he is so desperate for (you)s he can't just wait another time. He MUST let us know his shit taste in games and be a shitposting idiot on top of it.
did you not read through the thread anon? So far 90+% of the posts are on topic and not shit posts.
>on topic
This is Cinemaphile not Cinemaphile.
still on topic for the thread, regardless of the board its on.
>still on topic
If it was on Cinemaphile. It isn't.
Calm your autism.
Cinemaphile is busy right now with GTA spam containment
That doesn't mean "frick it ill go to a board not about video games to discuss video games". You deal with it or discuss it when shit dies down. Stop being an ADHD addled zoomer sperg.
stop being a b***h
>Cinemaphile doesnt get me enough attention where can I go to discuss them?
>any of the like 5 video game boards
Too on topic.
>any of the 4 random boards
Nah too on topic.
>>>Cinemaphile Television and Film
There we go! have a nice day.
>i deliberately entered a board about television and film to discuss video games
>why do people find me annoying for shitposting on the board?
You're 100% fricked in the head, you dumb moron. Just close the fricking thread and move on with your life, holy shit.
>wtf just stop pointing out im a shitposter
MGS4 is television and film, moron
Is this television and film? It's for the promotion of the film PRETTY BABY
>Shields attempted to prevent further use of the photographs but in 1983 a US Court ruled that a child is bound by the terms of the valid, unrestricted consents to the use of photographs executed by a guardian and that the image did not breach child pornography laws.[4] In ruling, the presiding Judge stated: "The issue on this appeal is whether an infant model may disaffirm a prior unrestricted consent executed on her behalf by her parent and maintain an action pursuant to section 51 of the Civil Rights Law against her photographer for republication of photographs of her. Why? It's 100% legal and on-topic.
>that the image did not breach child pornography laws
>that the image did not breach child pornography laws
>that the image did not breach child pornography laws
suck a shotgun, pedoBlack person
Do you have one I could borrow or maybe even help me do it? Whats your address?
In this case it does because GTA spam is spilling out heavily onto other boards and since those threads are rightfully being deleted/moved, Cinemaphile is basically unusable right now. But the cancer must be kept on Cinemaphile or it will come here
>go to Cinemaphile
>they say the exact same thing about how Cinemaphile is the dumb board full of morons
>go to any board and talk about another board
>they all say how the other board used to be better, and it’s shit now
lmao its just constant shitflinging between all of you, isnt it? Maybe they’re all just as bad
Cinemaphile is probably the worst board after /misc/ and /b/. If you disagree you're a newbie.
It's newbies. "Board culture" was the original newhomosexualry and they never grew out of it.
Cinemaphile is unironically, no argument, the worst board on Cinemaphile. id browse /b/ before Cinemaphile
Cinemaphile isn't even top 5. /k/ is though.
/v/irgins have gotta be the most global/diverse demographic on the site, it’s always unusable, buddy. Zoomers will never know the internet they missed, feel for them.
>cut out the final mission
>game and series now canonically ends with Liquid escaping with psycho mantis, a metal gear, the stupid parasite virus and a merry band of african child soldiers
>this was supposed to be "the missing link" that ties everything together
I will never not be mad.
I really love the series and wish there was a director capable and passionate enough about the project to bring it to life and was able to do it by cloning Clint Eastwood and making him twenty one years old so we can have the whole damn thing from start to finish.
metal gear is kino but if we are talking GOAT of Cinemaphile in games its gotta be yakuza. Perfect mix of comedy and autism crime drama.
The entire series is still on my backlog, I already know that it will appeal to me from all the things I've heard about it, but honestly I have no idea where to start. Any recommendations?
4 is the most Cinemaphile of them, video does kind of spoil the ending but its kino as hell and better then real action tv shows
What does Cinemaphile think about Death Stranding? I loved the aesthetics and lore, but got filtered by the story and Normal Reddit's dumb face.
It's......something. Glad something so unconventional exists, and there is a lot of people who find the strolls relaxing. Generally comfy game.
I am just not sure why they decided to cripple the balance mechanic just by holding both balance buttons at the same time, I'd prefer if they kept it to be a high budget QWOP.
Cinemaphile and Cinemaphile are unusable cesspools. I'm 100% sure that jannies there are the worst out of worst trannies, same as (you) addicted incels
Yeah the jannies are fricking Black folk. This stays up and other YT shit like fishtank stays up but other shit gets deleted. The mods don't have any idea what they're doing.
>The mods don't have any idea what they're doing.
They do, but the one they've had on this board since the start of this year is here to sabotage the board.
Are MSGgays still seething at DOOMchads on Cinemaphile or did that die down?
#haveaViceday
i miss MGO2 so much. i had created my perfect waifu and it’s all gone like dust in the wind.
Can I create a waifu in MGSV? I have the game but still didn't play it.
Nolt really, the closest you can come to that is recruiting playable female soldiers for your base
Pedo homosexual ruined a good thread
>janny deletes the off topic thread making fun of this one but not this thread
Oh I missed it, give me the link.
