How do you measure something's philosophical depth? I don't really understand what makes a movie or book "deep".
I should mention that when I watched Evangelion (original series) i thought it was very "pseudo-intellectual" and trying very hard to be deep and failing. But i couldnt really explain why i thought that. Its just how i felt it was after watching it.

I know what you're getting at. When a show seems like it's going up its own ass or it's trying to tell you a puddle is as deep as an ocean, I start to tune out too.
