Fricking UNICORN JELLY was a better scifi passion project, and even it could explain the wacky made up scifi stuff in a way that made sense if you took time to except the rules of the setting.
Jeph sidestepped some of the issue by making all the AIs wacky weirdos, and handwaving that they're all made by a blackbox process that know one knows exactly why it works just that it does. So they can't custom order a bunch of AI workers. Some AI would be content to be accounting software, but others want bodies, or to fulfill their fetish of being a vending machine or analyzing internet memes, etc.
I think the robots and the prostheses are all cheap attempts at aping Dresden Codak, it’s low talent hipsterism. Not that Dresden Codak is a gem or anything

The problem with his numbers about viewer numbers is that he wrote the cow vtuber as having several thousand viewers per stream, which would make her extremely successful.
He took the numbers for a Hoe-girlve star and applied them to what was supposed to be a medium sized streamer.
The thing that always gets me about this is that he specifically calls out school lunches, and as anyone who grew up poor in the US knows, if there's ONE fruit you were guaranteed to have encountered in a school lunch, it was fricking raisins (followed closely by a tiny, grainy Red Delicious apple). It could not be more clear that his privilege was too great to know what actual poor kids ate, and he never checked his assumption.
They were talking about two different kinds of raisins.

One that hasn't been paid yet because, again, under a week. She bought the tickets NEXT DAY, even if there was an unmentioned signing bonus that still wouldn't have posted the full amount. And suddenly getting paid more doesn't instantly make most well adjusted people lose their lifetime of price consciousness. And her mom only relatively recently became a streamprostitute and hasn't shown an inclination to money shower her kids. They had at least a middle class lifestyle before, but still no indications that was enough to not even blink at same day ticket prices.
So yes, chalk it up to Jeph himself never having to really worry about the price of things (even things he was directly involved in, back when he was going to a dozen conventions a year) and being bad at showing it or faking it.
