literally every reviewer shit on this. wtf are you talking about?
They quite literally didn’t, are you moronic ?
Just say you are poor windowstard and keep it pushing lil'bro everyone is recognizing this as the revolutionary device it is.
itoddler things their basic overpriced hardware and absolute dogshit software is a luxury item worth flexing.
tech illiterate monkey the youtuber
so shit software, I'll buy this when a half decent company takes a crack at it, hopefully with a linux derivative OS.
cope poorgay
It looks idiotic and will ruin women's makeup. Instant fail for the core apple market right there
I'll wait to see until /OurGuy/ has the last word on it.
Linus will shill it 200%
>OurGuy
That's not Tech Jesus.
You mean techjudas? Frick this snake for trying to bring down Linus and team.
>You mean techjudas? Frick this snake for trying to bring down Linus and team.
They already do that plenty themselves lmao
he has autism fingers
i don't give a frick about this shit but no, they didn't
what is the point of this? what problem does it solve?
having too much money
The problem of having a computer and a screen on your desk.
it's an "immersive" tv/monitor replacement but only for apple's shit
>what is the point of this? what problem does it solve?
>The problem of having a computer and a screen on your desk.
>it's an "immersive" tv/monitor replacement but only for apple's shit
Yeah can't wait to get one so I can downsize my apartment. With these you can basically live in super high end apartments anywhere
Yeah man I can't wait until I can live in the stacks and just log off from work and go directly to living in WoW!
>Yeah can't wait to get one so I can downsize my apartment. With these you can basically live in super high end apartments anywhere
man i've had that image saved for like 15 years from a /wg/ thread
>man i've had that image saved for like 15 years from a /wg/ thread
Same, lol. I think I found it on Deviant Art 20 years ago or something silly like that. Striking art.
those goggles look cool. the apple one looks insanely gay.
>tfw we won't even get the goggles+implants+drugs that make it all seem real for the people abandoning reality in cyberpunk stories
>instead we'll get to live in a pod with shitty VR glasses that won't focus right while watching movies, because there isn't even a wall big enough to mount a regular tv on
new movie plot just dropped
Seems like way to much crap to go with a headset
I bought a Quest 2 now that they're on a discount. Never used VR before, figured I'd see what the hype is. What a fricking joke. It looks horrible. It's mostly a visual experience and it's like looking through Vaseline. I have all sorts of rifle scopes, binoculars, camera lenses, and they look wonderful, and they have for 50+ years. Why does the VR helmet have 19th century tech in it?
You have to connect it to your 4090.
Easier than inventing a time machine to take you to 2004.
I don't mean the 3D models in the games. The lenses themselves are blurry, make it difficult to focus, have such small sweet spots that I feel like I am always fighting any minor shift in headset position, force you to spin your head around rather than move your eyeballs, god rays beaming off of any text, etc. I wanted to watch a movie in the headset and I realized that it doesn't work because you can't view the big screen in the way you actually would IRL. Imagine watching a movie at the theater by craning your neck around with your eyes perfectly centered. You would have to sit twice as far form the screen to make sure it only sits in the center of your vision.
I tried to find a old plate helmet that would restrict FOV as much as VR goggles do, but even the worst examples allow greater peripheral vision than VR does.
Quest 2 I found very lack luster but quest 3 is much more crisp. Oddly enough my old s8+ in the gear vr headset was best picture quality although it had significant screendoor effect going on. The thing I hate about quest is no eye tracking so you have to constantly be looking forward.
>$3000 to watch VR porn
Is it really 3k?
kek at the stupid homosexuals that buy this
A 2k PC and a 1k Valve Index would produce much better VR
yes but shallow women and gay men are uninterested in performance, it is a social status symbol just like every other Apple product. also the Index has wires which gives them the ick.
But the external battery pack on the VP is hip and cool.
I'll be watching Event Horizon while sitting on the literal moon wearing this. My AI gfs will be watching too. Poorgays keep seething.
>waifu apps in the restrictive Apple ecosystem
keep dreaming buddy
Someone will make an AI gf service on facetime. I'll be wearing this thing 24/7 btw. With passthrough there's no need to take it off except for sleeping.
poor people wont understand
can't wait to watch a movie through blurry binoculars
>Dude it's not VR it's spatial computing it's AR man and it's everything
>It comes out and it's literally just a VR headset
>apple gays still come out of the woodwork to defend their glorified 4 thousand dollar goon machine
BRAVO APPLE!
You are fricking moronic if you think this like anything else on the market. This is a category defining product like the original iPhone was.
>You are fricking moronic if you think this like anything else on the market. This is a category defining product like the original iPhone was.
It's a toy that will be collecting dust in 6 months.
frick you
t.85 IQ windows gamerboys who will buy the Samsung knockoff version of this in a few years when everyone has one
Yes I will buy a version without the stupid eye-screen on the outside.
>"It'll be so great spending 4000 dollars to have a less comfortable tv strapped to my head"
Niche product for moronic tech guys that watch movies by themselves. Literally a toy, I doubt you can name a single application outside of home media that it would perform better at than actual for-purpose devices
Sars please congratulate me for being first apple vision pro headset customer! It is an honor!
did he redeem?
At least he'll have something to watch while sitting on the street
he can project a virtual bathroom
>category defining
if by defining you mean just shoving two categories together without even a single killer app then sure
You don't understand how any of this works kid.
It's not about how impressive a technology is, it's about what problems it solves and what use cases it has. Even the most impressive technology will be tossed into a corner and forgotten after a week if it serves no actual purpose.
Smartphones are phones, calenders, navigation devices, clocks, alarms, cameras, game consoles, instant messaging device, payment devices, digital IDs, literally fricking anything you fricking need.
And all of that on a touch interface that actual toddlers can intuitively use.
And it's convenient. Takes 1 second to pull out your phone and use any of its features.
What do these ski goggles solve? Wow now you can access apple notes in a VR environment I'm sure people will come home and put on their copeglasses every day for that
Yeah I have a projector.
>Frick huge image
>Can see grain
>Easier to move around than a big ass TV
>No light beaming into eyes
Tyrone gets it for free
I was watching some Three Stooges in 3D on my Quest 3 the other day, couldn't even finish the last short it was so goddamned uncomfortable. That was only about 2hrs in VR total (I played some of that Lego game for about an hour). I can only imagine how much worse it's going to be with a heavier headset and narrower FOV.
it can't be good to watch something an inch in front of your face
>t. mom
no, like focusing on something that close, probably make you go crosseyed
>t.mom
From my understanding, everything is 6 feet away in terms of focusing. Past that, it's all perspective tricks making things seem closer or further away.
the lenses counter-focus so your resting/natural eye state translates to clear images.
This is also why FOV is so small.
Holy shit shut the frick up. I lost so many hours of fun thanks to idiots like you.
>Anon you can't go in the pool for at least 30 minutes after eating. You'll get a stitch!
>Anon you can't read in the car. It'll make you sick!
>Anon you can't read in the dim light. It'll make your eyes go bad!
FRICK OFF NAN.
sitting too close to the TV was a CRT thing. doesn't apply anymore.
Your eyes will be fine but wearing Apple Vision Pro for an extended period of time will make you gay though
What is he watching?
BBC
Blacked, unironically
that’s a prerequisite for buying it tho
vr will never not look autistic and gay
>Aktivate Sniffvision
>Start Nicki Minajj x Ice Spice video
It would be awesome to watch kino on, but it seems like it's too young of a product to be able to that yet. And for that reason, I'm out.
>VR
>requires macbook
its hilarious that anyone would fall for this at all.
>requires macbook
I don't think you need anything but an apple account. Which isn't to say the cost of entry isn't still absurd. I think that's what you're getting at at least, anon
I mean its only compatible with apple devices, at least from what I've heard. None of which are powerful enough for VR.
>noooooo you have to take into account the Apple made chips, they're so powerful!
>None of which are powerful enough for VR.
that's why its half-assed AR instead of VR.
ar is much better i think. vr is really stupid unless you live alone and don't have friends
What you're referring to as half-assed AR is actually Spacial Computing, or as I've taken to calling it recently Space Plus Computer
>what you're calling [thing] is actually [same thing different name]
>Still pushint that meme
Since the M series started macs have been objectively the most powerful computers around.
lol. lmao even.
Cope
Wow, I wonder what reputable group did this benchmark test
>comparing graphical performance of processors
compare it to a GPU bud.
quick check shows its comparable to a 1660 super, a five year old card.
Thing costs 3 fricking grand and it doesn't even run VR vidya?
What exactly does it do then? Pokemon GO or some shit?
it just gives you floating screens.
pretty much just the native apple software. Microsoft and Netflix have already said that Apple made it too onerous for them to bother making apps for
It's 4k with taxes included and it lets you use 1 screen on your Mac, and you can uh, view models in it. And goon?
It's essentially just a tech demo. I doubt even Apple believes this is a product that will be bought by the general public
It doesn't require a MacBook. It is its own computer. However, you CAN wireless connect to your MacBook and create a giant display to view your MacBook while using the physical keyboard and mouse/trackpad
quest 3 honestly has been pretty good for watching anime, but I'm not sure I'd pay 12x as much for the experience
i have a mate who works at apple. he was headhunted and moved over to SF, but came back to london and just does WFH now.
anyway he told me they've known it isn't what they wanted it to be for a while. it was supposed to launch with a load of AR stuff that you could actually use out of the house (real time maps/directions like you're a walking through a GPS was the one he was working on and it never came off) and be all round much more lightweight and attractive to wear. the software guys blame the hardware guys, while the hardware guys blame the software guys. there's a bit of a civil war over it.
the hardware people should be embarrassed regardless, it is hilarious that they actually make you carry around a battery pack with a big dumb cord
>buy 20 acres in middle of nowhere
>build small cabin
>buy nice vr headset
All you need.
Any ad for this has a nog in it so I'm very clearly not the target demographic for it.
incorrect. nogs in ads guilt white people into buying it.
I am not guilted so YOU are the one who is incorrect.
excuse me, wealthy/affluent white people.
you are excused
absolutely ready to DUNK on you seething poorgays. Stick to your quest 3 lmao.
If I was gonna fall for the VR gimmick it would be a Valve kit because instead of wasting 2 or 3 grand on a macbook I built a nice PC with way better hardware than that shit
And at least the homosexual facebook VR actually does shit though unlike this
valve needs to make a standalone before I'd buy theirs again, I'm not willing to go back to mandatory tether
Index has the best specs because of the tether
Even if you hard wire the Quest sets to your own hardware they're not as good
Sure, but it's still not worth it. An optional cord to improve performance makes sense, but in every case where the game can be played untethered it's better
Stand alone VR sets have shit battery life so what's the point?
You're gonna be plugged in to something whether it's a battery or a computer
At least with a PC you can use your own hardware and not be stuck with whatever the frick is the local hardware is on the set which is likely dogshit
it's long enough for any active play session, you're not doing physical games for longer than two hours at a time. for sedentary usage, sure plug it in
Quest 2 lasted about 30 minutes when streaming from your PC
Not sure if they improved it much on the 3 but I doubt it
>At least with a PC you can use your own hardware and not be stuck with whatever the frick is the local hardware is on the set which is likely dogshit
Yeah and you'd be dealing with shitty compressed video instead with the Quest headsets. You have to increase the rendering resolution and waste so much battery with decoding a bazillion mbs of bitrate that it ends up having worse image quality and performance than an Index despite it having ancient display hardware by comparison.
I'll upgrade from my Quest 2 the day they put a thunderbolt port on it so it can stream latency-free, compression-free actual video data from a GPU's display port. But they don't care about PC VR at all so it'll never happen.
Post receipt or have a nice day.
>infuse already has a beta
We're good. Keep your Netflix and israelitetube lol
apple creates product, you consume product, you like product, you buy more product
I can’t wait to goon
>Sending Apple prime 3d scans of your wiener almost daily
Its like having a giant cinema with you everywhere
you can make the screen 100 inches
and only see a quarter of it at a time or be so far away it might as well be 15 inches.
that's every standalone vr
Is it? Does the screen feel like its away on normal VR?
it does visually but you still feel a physical discomfort at a screen so close to your eyes and this will probably have the same effect because it's still ultimately a screen right in front of your face.
I think you might just be psyching yourself into that feeling, it's supposed to be immersive enough that you don't feel like you're looking at a screen at all
>it's supposed to
yeah
there's a fricking panel of bright light an inch from your eyes
so? it's a literal optical illusion, stop looking for the flaws if you want to use it as intended
it's not a matter of 'looking for', it's a matter of noticing you're never as relaxed as you are looking at a actual big screen far away from you.
You're sitting down with a facehugger squeezing your face and bright lights are shooting your eyeballs half a inch away
skill issue
laying down is even worse because now gravity is weighing it down on your face
it's technology that is dead on arrival and can be fun for a little while (Alyx etc) until you're bored shooting in shitty games that are borderline for phones
motion-sicknesscel cope. Maybe in your next life you'll have a stronger tummy
nobody gets motion sickness unless it's women playing it for the first time. It's literally just boring tech where your gun flaps away with no weight
Home VR doesn't seem like something I'd ever use often enough to buy, but I'd pay to watch a movie or play a game on a super high tech VR set. Maybe that will replace movie theaters.
Imagine the facial fungus you'd catch just by having the misfortune of using it after a gooner rented it.
it's good if you like active vidya. i use mine every day, but i was also one of the people who liked ARMS enough to seriously grind the ladder
You wouldn't. It sounds more fun than it is, they're heavy, constricting, and sweaty.
I can't imagine why anyone would sit there and wear one for multiple hours. It's alright for the occasional 30 minute gaming session.
there's an interview with tim cook about it and it's very telling that he only mentions extended use of it while lying down
because he's a frail old man
I legit think all you people complaining about how heavy vr headsets are need to work out, i have never once experienced my neck getting tired from wearing one
I'm a literal gym moron and that shit fricks you up because it's very nuanced loads and strains on your neck and back (or mushed bones on your face) that are there regardless of how much you work out.
Unless you wear it and stay there sitting down and totally still and uncomfortable
I don't believe you, you have the neck of a little girl. I literally spend an hour playing games in it nearly every day
then you're a literal nerd with gay onions posture, what the frick is wrong with you
I just have proper musculature, maybe you would too if your workout routine wasn't shit
ok, guy who plays VR every day
If the tech was cheap and not nauseating I'd totally buy a pair and use it lying down. When you think about it there's really no reason why work has to be done sitting at a desk, you know? I'm intrigued by the idea that I could go on a sailing trip or something similar like an extended car trip and still have the semblance of watching movies on a big screen before going to bed in a small bunk. I doubt that would really work though and obviously you won't be playing any VR games while lying down. That sounds like it would give you motion sickness in five seconds.
I use my Oculus (sorry, Meta) 2 a lot and that strap looks incredibly uncomfortable. Any front-heavy VR without a halo style support is basically useless because you can't use for more than 20 minutes due to the weight pulling on your face.
But Apple so yeah it looks cool I guess kek
that's the worst part, it doesn't even look cool this time. look at that shitty ribbed strap and the weird fricking eyes on the screen. who thought this was good?
Why would this be better than a great monitor or TV? I don't wanna wear something for 8 or 10 plus hour daily.
You need a place to put a tv or monitor. This tech is invested in because the powers that be believe we'll all have to live in shitty little apartments with no space in the future due to population concentration, to escape storms and floods and wildfires etc. It'll also be a matter of resource management, with everyone having a pair of goggles and doing both their work and play through them instead of having several different devices that all take up valuable metals and electricity only to be used once a day or less.
Don't forget how this finally solves the issue of video piracy. At least if they can work out how to cut your eyes out and give you shiny metal ones instead. Looking at something you shouldn't be? Blacked out.
I wouldn't mind one eye implant that lets me zoom in, see different colour spectrums or record stuff, but I'd never want both. Even if there's no censorship from corporations you'd still be bombarded by AR ads and run the risk of going blind if you get hacked. If you only have one implant you can just "close" that eye when walking through the street that's got really annoying ads and still see. Also you can't be fooled by real-time deepfake holograms.
>Pay $3500 to ruin your posture from having this weighing on your neck while you watch movies
I'll pass
Ok but you guys know that you have skinny chicken necks, right?
It's a hassle to put it on VS just relaxing sitting back.
VR is impressive for like a week or if you used it in a friend's house for 20 minutes (and assume you'd play for hours), but it's actually pretty tiring, your face bones are mushed, your neck gets fricked, the weight distribution is never quite right etc.
I don't care what this does, can I change the exterior display to be yellow so I can look like C&C guy, if so I am buying
Just buy a pair of mirrored snowboard goggles.
Best use case for VR is gaming and even then only a few genres benefit. Any kind of simulator like racing or flight sims are a good fit because it gives you full 180 degrees view of your wienerpit by just using your neck to intuitively look around, no need to strap a bunch of monitors to each other to get good fov, it's a rare case where VR is both cheaper and more convenient, in most other use cases it's less convenient and more expensive.
Meta has failed to sell VR to normies so I don't see how Apple can do any different. The friction of putting on the headset is already enough to make it worse than a phone for most people and most things that a phone already does well.
>2.5 hour battery
Completely useless as a productivity device which is how they’ve framed it.
You just have to do what people have been doing with "portable" gaming gear for generations: leave them plugged in at all times because let's not kid ourselves, you were never going to be playing games in public.
Bruh what the hell are you talking about
There's a large percentage of people who never played their PSP, DS or Switch outside their home, leaving them plugged in when playing because of crappy battery times.
Frick me
>memory rape your whales who are already wasting $3500 beta testing your product
Apple really never misses an opportunity, do they?
>groundbreaking new device comes out
>actually attempting to make VR into more than gay metaverse gaming shite
>does everything it can in the name of user comfort
>HURR IT ISN'T PERFECT WTF IT'S UGLY AND SHIT BATTERY AND DOESN'T DO ANYTHING LIKE IN MY CYBERPUNK STORIES
This is literally a public beta. Yeah, it's overpriced because Apple but nobody seems to understand it was never meant to be perfect from the start. It's un-Apple to release a product so clearly unrefined even in first generation form, but it .makes sense to do it.
Trial and error, if they hadn't done this, no one else would and if it's in the name of advancing the tech and they're the only firm capable of eating huge losses on R&D, then so be it.
It's not VR.
>$3500
>2h battery life
>can't have VR porn
Who would want this shit?
god apple shills are the fricking worst.
there is not a single apple shill in this thread, it's just the gay vr war again. everybody's fighting over whether the quest is good and pretending they give a frick about Apple's $4k paperweight as justification
Ill get one when there's good porn for it.
so never because it's a locked down toy for people who thinks facetime is a magical experience.
Someone post the chat videos
I'm seriously considering buying an index
hold out until deckard gets announced. I'm predicting late 2024 announcement
micro-what?
valves next headset
it's unannounced but there's a name?
I need this naow
Nobody cares about your homosexual 4,000 dollar AR set that doesn't do shit
don't.
if you're poor, get a quest 3, or a pico4 if you wanna avoid the ZuccCuck™
if not poor, pimax crystal or big screen beyond (the former for gaming, the latter for media)
Apple doesn't get called 'homosexuals' by their consumers nearly enough.
Is Hanwiener getting a sequel?
tfw have to wait next month to purchase like a poor person
>Ready for the new and best way to watch kino?
>>>
I don't care about new Apple headset and probably never will.
I would actually buy a PSVR2 and a PS5 if they would only add 3D-Bluray support. That's literally all I want from a headset.
Just get a pc setup with bluray support????
With what headset? Seems like too much trouble.
I've been literally waiting cash in hand since product launch for Sony to announce 3D-Bluray support for PS5/PSVR2, but no, that'd make too much sense.
If they can't meet simple basic criteria like that, I don't give a frick if whole HMD / VR / AR industry goes kaput and dies a death.
looks like the madame web poster
Man, sure a lot of poorgays here coping while making monkey noises.
A fool and his money are soon parted.
The funniest part is that they literally shill for the glorified fashion company FOR FREE.
incel thread
I was excited and was about to pull the trigger on buying one but I heard that the FOV is very small compared to pretty much any other headset out there. The screen quality does have pixelation and glare issues as well. Every reviewer has pretty much summed it up as "yea it's cool but not cool enough for you to want to use it in replace of a screen". The idea of watching 3d 4k movies sounds cool but the tech just isn't quite there yet to justify using it.
just get a quest 3
Test a quest 3 on a store and see if you like it, specifically to watch movies. Just keep in mind you won't have the same experience as sitting with it on your face for 2 hours instead of 10 minutes on the store
I'm not even a big fan of quest and VR currently in general, but apple's seems absolute shit
i will never risk buying a vr Fleshlight simply because there is too much risk that a hacker could get in and change my device from being a womans pussy to a mans anus and im just not into that shit at all.
I have been watching movies using a Quest 2 for a while. There used to be a VRChat that would pirate any movie you wanted and play it on a big screen. It was pretty sweet. It got taken down a couple month ago. It is what convinced me to buy a projector though. I realized how much better a big screen is.
When vr/ar is made into contact lenses this will be interesting. Right now this shit is just gimmick goggles only nerds wear.
there's something about black hands on technology that triggers me
>Ready for the new and best way to watch kino?
I find Apple fanboys laughable as does anyone who has actually worked in technology long term,. Apple fanboys are the idiot who likes to be ripped off by unscrupulous homosexuals who tell them they have great taste and are special people while taking all their money and giving them overpriced paywall garbage that self destructs.
