Most pregnancy fetish people like their pregnant women being a trad wife they take care of and dote on. Pregnancy artists would hate this character cause she’s way too active physically, puts the baby in danger, can’t be doted on, and her outfit and design isn’t enticing

Also she’s ugly (and black) lol

This, all my attraction is gone if it shows the pregnant woman smoking or drinking or doing something physical that'd make her miscarriage.

Can't say I agree with all of that.
But yeah, as a preggo fan I could never take comic Jess' pregnancy storyline seriously or even enjoy it as fap fuel, and I'm someone who enjoys the occasional bad mommy thread, it's some of the stupidest spoiled entitled white womyn shit they've made in a long time, but this movie takes it to a disgusting level, watching this afro sporting ghetto baboon ride around on a motorcycle 9 months pregnant is just nauseating, keeping her white wouldn't have saved it, it's just fricking horrible parenting, I'd be less offended if she was smoking crack and cage fighting a bunch of dudes with knives and vacuums.

She is meant to make the specific audience of people who want to be dommed by Gwen seethe. Since Gwen is so confident and dominant when in Miles' presence but becomes a wet blanket in OP pic's presence.

I also hated this in the first movie since the alt Spiders were just there for the gimmick

Eh, in the first movie the alt-Spiders were mostly just there as comic relief. Plus, they didn't hyperfocus on muh ebin multiverse and just used it as the plot device it should be, so it was far more tolerable

          Anonymous

They should've focused on the multiverse, to begin with. I went to see a movie about Spider-Men from different worlds coming together, not Miles' boring-ass origin story.

            Anonymous

No, I would've preferred if they'd never have touched the multiverse at all. Spider-Man doesn't fricking need multiverse narratives, and I hate that he's now forever associated with them
You're right that these films are used as an excuse to prop up Miles by association though, which is equally bad in the long scheme of things

              Anonymous

I really don't understand this hatred of the multiverses. It feels so forced and contrarian. And I'm the contrarian guy who hates Spider-Verse to begin with, but I hate it for not having ENOUGH multiverse shit, you guys hate for having too much multiverse shit as is, which I don't get at all. What's so bad about it?

                Anonymous

The multiverse is a really fricking empty plot device which the sole purpose of is cheap spectacle for audiences to clap and point at, either through interesting universes you'll spend 5 minutes in or through cameos of actors/characters you know already from better films. At the end, the main character and their universe is barely changed or affected.
Plus, it's just a hokey idea that relies upon hack writers coming up with technobabble to 'scientifically' explain thingss. It's on the same level as time travel or cloning and like those other two tropes, it's especially bad when it occurs in a series that didn't include it from the outset. Like Spider-Man, for instance.

                > The multiverse is a really fricking empty plot device which the sole purpose of is cheap spectacle for audiences to clap and point at

Don't blame a good concept for being poorly used by hack writers. Capeshit does the multiverse poorly because its capeshit, not because the multiverse itself is a bad concept to play around with.

it devalues the characters you are following honestly and writers can make it feel clever

Multiverse is forced and shallow. It's keys jingling in front of your face.
                >member thing from your childhood? recognize thing? reference amirite?
It's the kind of gimmick you'd expect from a toy company. Except at least if you don't want to, no one forces you to collect "what if Spider-Man but G I Joe" I actually had this fricker so not shitting on him, just using him as an example to illustrate my point. and at least kids can use their imaginations to give their toys characterizations.
And personally I prefer my Spider-Man stories to be grounded which doesn't mean he has to fight shitters all the time. Roger Stern's Juggernaut story is a perfect example of how you can put Peter in a situation where he's completely outclassed and still make it feel like a Spider-Man story and not a soulless memberry juice.
And plenty of you will disagree with me on this one even regardless the multiverse crap, but I'll say it anyway: the higher the stakes get the harder it is to get invested in what's happening unless a very VERY talented writer is in charge. I'm sorry but "Carnage will slaughter a schoolbus full of kids if Spider-Man won't stop him in time" sounds a lot more suspenseful and tense to me than "all the universes will explode if Spider-Man won't hurry up"

This. I wonder if people would have even cared about the first Spider-Verse movie if its stakes had been as high as the second one's were

I found it hilarious Miles spray paints the alt-Spiders in the new film when the interactions he had with them consist of them scolding him, reconciling with him, screwing him over, and then fricking off back to their home universe. There's zero meaningful interaction between them in comparison to Peter B. Parker and Gwen but the second film attempts to paint a different picture.

If she’s not important to the story she needs to go. Movies are too short to allow for unnecessary characters delivering unecessery dialogue taking up perfectly good screen time that could be allocated to something that actively improves the quality and pace of the movie.

She lets Gwen on the Spiderverse team before her tragedies have resolved, setting up all of the dominos to fall that fricks up Miguel's narrative.

Without Jess recruiting Gwen (probably against Miguel's better judgement) the whole plot doesn't happen.

Basically none of Miguel's main Spider-Men are sympathetic enough to have pushed for Gwen to be on the squad, or would have covered her early frick-ups.

More because the power dynamics shifted against societies sexist expectations. Yes, society is actually being sexist when they assume all men are rapists and all young women only have sex because men rape them. Thats also why you cannot show an erection in a movie because people will get fricking scared that a rape is about to occur! Its honestly very anti-male sex.
