Shifu taught him from a young age that his destiny in life was becoming the dragon warrior and that, that was his birthright. All those years of training, struggling, and giving up everything else that mattered to become the dragon warrior because shifu taught him to think that way. Tai lung felt like walking trash, that would drive any man to a life of crime. Shifu created tai lung.
Exactly. But shifu taught him that the only thing that matters in life is dragon warrior status so he never explored any other potential he had. He could only think of himself as a walking failure
>Oh nooooooooo. I'm now inhumanly strong and powerful, with no obligations related to a stupid title and role, whatever could I possibly do with my life??
Well... Yeah. He was literally taught that being the dragon warrior was his destiny, nothing else mattered. It's obviously wrong but shifu had poisoned his mind with destiny bullshit.
it's like being a martial arts master in real life. what the frick are you going to do? teach rich people's kids to punch good for a living? there's no mma in fantasy animal people land.
We see in the sequel that martial arts masters have jobs protecting cities and shit.
Also, Tai Lung actually did succeed at getting the dragon scroll. His true failure was not understanding the message of the scroll. So Oogway was right. Tai Lung would never have the correct mental state to be the dragon warrior.
>His true failure was not understanding the message of the scroll
There was no message. No secret technique, no ki stuff or whatever magic they use in universe. The true failure was Ugway and Shifu hyping up a literal nothinburger. Tai Lung wouldn't have snapped if there were no fakeout prize to begin with
Yeah it's almost like that scene with Mr.Ping explaining that there's no secret ingredient to his soup was trying to say something about belief or something.
Getting fricked over muh destiny is one thing, but being left to rot in jail for 2 decades without a visit is even worse. I don’t blame him for going apeshit.
>I have had a vision! Tai Lung will escape and frick you in the ass, Shifu >WHAT? THIS CANNOT BE! DOUBLE THE RAPISTS! DOUBLE THE BEATINGS! SEND THE FIVE TO CASTRATE HIM BEFORE HE CAN GO FREE!
It's interesting how as a kid i never cared for Shifu but as adult i realize he's my favourite character and the main reason the first kung fu panda is so good. He's such a flawed character with rage issues and haunting mistakes of the past
KFP1 is more about Shifu than it is about Po. It's basically the conclusion and resolution of Shifu's character arc, while Po's is just starting out (and then gets concluded in 2). The movie's all about him being haunted by the mistakes of his past and then ultimately being redeemed by Po. He failed raising Tai Lung and everyone suffered as a result, but he successfully made Po into the Dragon Warrior, and Po not only defeats Tai Lung, but brings Shifu the peace that he had been unable to grasp for his entire life. Po and Shifu's character arcs are intertwined, where Shifu finds inner peace and redemption for his mistakes through Po's maturation and growth
Also, Shifu is a red panda, so it's arguable that the title of the movie is actually referring to him, not Po
It's as much Oogway's fault as it is Shifu's. For an allegedly wise master Oogway never bothered to dispel the notion that he was destined to become the Dragon Warrior from Tai Lung's heart, and when Tai Lung actually put forward his bid to become the Dragon Warrior, all Oogway said in response was some nebulous bullshit about "darkness" in his heart. He didn't bother at all to prevent Tai Lung from going down a dark path in the first place and unlike Shifu who was blinded by paternal pride, Oogway could look at the situation more objectively and prevent all this from happening.
Funny thing is if tai lung discovered shifus faults without oogways intervention and set out on his own path he may actually have become worthy of the dragon warrior status
KFP2 is definitely good, just not at the first film's level. Shen is cool and the soundtrack is great, but the writing and dialogue aren't as strong. Certainly better than the utterly forgettable KFP3
I thought it was really strange that they actually confirmed he was dead. I didn't really get the impression that Po straight up killed him when they fought.
>be Tai Lung >be groomed from infancy into believing you are the dragon warrior >Senile turtle says you're not and your foster daddy doesn't say a word >Punch foster daddy once in a fit of righteous rage >Apparently that's enough of a crime to get life sentence >spend 20 years of your life getting raped by rhinogs >Finally get free >Fat slob chosen one got the scroll after one week of training >Get the scroll >IT WAS FRICKING NOTHING THE WHOLE TIME >get killed
It's weird in general how Po of all people/animals is able to kill without the slightest shade of mercy. I'm pretty every other character in a fight goes like >Do what i want and you'll get spared
Even when fighting Shifu Tai Lung offers him oogway's stuff implying that if shifu gives him the scroll he'll be spared. Po on the hand never tries to bargain, he kills Lung and is completely, absolutely unphased by it, no moral dilemma whatsoever.
I'm not sure if the ski-doosh was originally supposed to be the kill or part 4 retconned it be the kill
Millennials were trying to dispel old narrative of excellence and superiority between people, a lot of bullshit stories about how everyone is special and unique even the most average fellow. Only ended up justifying the old narratives.
Second movie is overrated as frick.
The only good thing is Po’s arc, but that is in the middle of a bunch of bad scenes. And the villain is meh, he may have good screen presence, but he doesn’t have the sauce that Tai Lung has.
Tai Lung had legit beef with Oogway but Shifu did nothing wrong, it was never his choice to make
Shifu taught him from a young age that his destiny in life was becoming the dragon warrior and that, that was his birthright. All those years of training, struggling, and giving up everything else that mattered to become the dragon warrior because shifu taught him to think that way. Buy he's sexy af
He could get any gal
Exactly. But shifu taught him that the only thing that matters in life is dragon warrior status so he never explored any other potential he had. He could only think of himself as a walking failure
The amount of fan art of him pounding master tigress says yes.
Also, snep and tiger couples are adorable.
>only 2 women
>make them lesbians
I hate it
>Oh nooooooooo. I'm now inhumanly strong and powerful, with no obligations related to a stupid title and role, whatever could I possibly do with my life??
Well... Yeah. He was literally taught that being the dragon warrior was his destiny, nothing else mattered. It's obviously wrong but shifu had poisoned his mind with destiny bullshit.

if all it takes to become a dragon warrior is believing in yourself then you might as well make everyone a dragon warrior
Getting fricked over muh destiny is one thing, but being left to rot in jail for 2 decades without a visit is even worse. I don’t blame him for going apeshit.
RAPED BY RHINOS
FOR TWENTY YEAAAAAARSSS
he probably started liking it eventually. gay people tell stories of anuses so prolapsed that they orgasm instantaneously when they get reamed.
>I have had a vision! Tai Lung will escape and frick you in the ass, Shifu
>WHAT? THIS CANNOT BE! DOUBLE THE RAPISTS! DOUBLE THE BEATINGS! SEND THE FIVE TO CASTRATE HIM BEFORE HE CAN GO FREE!
>You let Oogway frick me!
>That was never my decision to make! That was not my fault!
It's interesting how as a kid i never cared for Shifu but as adult i realize he's my favourite character and the main reason the first kung fu panda is so good. He's such a flawed character with rage issues and haunting mistakes of the past

wrong, shifu is a raccoon
It's as much Oogway's fault as it is Shifu's. Tai Lung is genuinely Ian McShane's best role and KFP1 is a masterpiece. Shame the sequels didn't live up to that but they rarely do.
KFP2 is good and i will stand by it. The villain isn't as good as Tai but Shen is still fun and miles ahead the kfp 3 guy. (Haven't seen kfp4)
KFP2 is definitely good, just not at the first film's level. Shen is cool and the soundtrack is great, but the writing and dialogue aren't as strong. Certainly better than the utterly forgettable KFP3
3 isn't forgettable, you just have dementia
>thank you Poe for aborting my 40 years old son he was a dissapointment anyway
>morons hyped up KFP4 as Tai Lung’s redemption arc
>he’s only in the movie for 5 minutes to job to the main antagonist and bow to Po
KWAB
I thought it was really strange that they actually confirmed he was dead. I didn't really get the impression that Po straight up killed him when they fought.
He got blown up
Where's the dragon warrior?
why is the autistic chinese martial arts man trope so kino?
Never go full Raoh.
It's funny how after failing with Tai Lung he almost repeated his mistake with Tigress
>be Tai Lung
>be groomed from infancy into believing you are the dragon warrior
>Senile turtle says you're not and your foster daddy doesn't say a word
>Punch foster daddy once in a fit of righteous rage
>Apparently that's enough of a crime to get life sentence

Yeah, didn't understand why Po killed him at the end, it seemed like he was coming around to his words, then, ski-douche.
BAZINGA
It's weird in general how Po of all people/animals is able to kill without the slightest shade of mercy. I'm pretty every other character in a fight goes like

I'm not sure if the ski-doosh was originally supposed to be the kill or part 4 retconned it be the kill
That's why Po was the dragon warrior
How can a film have such great environments, story, side characters, and a complete shit protagonist?
Millennials were trying to dispel old narrative of excellence and superiority between people, a lot of bullshit stories about how everyone is special and unique even the most average fellow. Only ended up justifying the old narratives.
