>shitty eyesore art, half the panels are just headshots of people talking
>worst portrayal of Batman up to that point, tainted his characterization for years to come as a violent moody emo instead of a heroic detective
>made Robin a girl for some reason or another
>plot is just a power fantasy about how he stops all the crime in Gotham because he is le Batman
>patient 0 for endless Batwank about Batman can defeat anyone with le prep time because he a completely mischaracterized and nerfed Superman
>Joker is gay
Why do people call this one of the greatest comic books of all time, when it's undoubtedly one of the worst?

Don't forget
>one of the worst characterizations of Batman fricking ever
Seriously, Batman in the Miller comics is a fricking butthole. He's nothing like Batman. He's sadistic and self-obsessed and prideful, unapologetic and has no fricking heart.
>Didn't read the book.
Miller's Batman is classic Batman but in a dark setting.
Classic Batman doesn't beat Superman down and gloat about it forever meaning 'I'm BETTER than you'. That is not Batman.
Classic Batman doesn't abuse Dick Grayson leading him to become a psychopathic murderer. Are you fricking stupid
>Are you fricking stupid
That's not the line.
>Classic Batman doesn't beat Superman down and gloat about it forever meaning 'I'm BETTER than you'.
He doesn't do that, he simple beats him to make Clark realize who he should be again
>Classic Batman doesn't abuse Dick Grayson leading him to become a psychopathic murderer. Are you fricking stupid
Retcon in other books.
He literally says it to the man. This is the shit that started the BvS shitting contest for years to come. If this iteration was faithful at all to Batman proper it wouldn't have done that and instead paid respect to the brotherly relationship and mutual respect the two ahve for each other. Instead it made it a chest beating pissing contest for Bruce who makes it a narrative point of pride and accomplishment to grind Clark's face in the dirt to always remind him he was 'beaten'. That is not an appeal to Clark's heroic nature and spirit, it is pettiness and pride.
>Retcon in other books.
Doesn't stop it fromhappening in the original and being a foundational aspect of this iteration's character and history. This Bruce was a piece of shit who was so fricked up he turned Dick Fricking Grayson into the second Joker. And if TDKR is really the future of All Star Batman like Miller says, it's no wonder. This Bruce is a piece of shit and nothing like the character should be. Tell me with a straight face that any properly written Bruce acts like that, ever.
Who was it that said "If your Batman can't comfort a scared child then you didn't write Batman, you wrote Punisher in a funny hat?" Because this Batman doesn't comfort his Robin (in All-Star). He tortures him.
>TDKR is bad because of something that happens in another book
Ignore that moron. He pulls this shit constantly, like in every other TDKR thread.
Lick my ass, I don't know who you're talking about. I'm not the only one who dislikes this version of Batman and you must be a hivemind believing jackass yourself just to think that anyone who does is the same person.
I never said that, you disingenuous prick. I never said it was Carrie he mistreated either. I specifically said the history of this version shows how twisted and departed from the original he is. And what fricking Batman calls a child 'soldier'?
Oh yeah, the one from All-Star. And look how he treated Robin in that one.
You're the only one that criticizes TDKR for things that happen in the other Miller Batman books.
>I didn't read the comic.
What the frick is it about Batman that attracts these fricktards in the comic industry. You'll see some of the weirdest people with the worst fetishes and beliefs writing these awful stories. And they're gay too which doesn't help.
None of this is even in the comic.
Also untrue.
Gay Joker is.
>Also untrue.
How is it untrue that this is the worst story to represent Batman's character? It's a horrendous rendition of his character without question. Compare it to any other version and the differences are glaring and indefensible.
It's the best iteration of Batman, easily. Especially evident when you start comparing it to all the others.
You mean best
Being contrarian doesn't make you interesting
It doesn't prevent me from being interesting either.
It does.
What even is that pose?
I always took it as a body builder "pointing" pose
But I also thought it was a view from the back, which is wrong.
But why do that in midair?
why do anything?
That's not a good comeback.
I think Daredevil is peak Frank Miller art. He just degenerates from there.
Miller peaked with Sin City
>one of the worst?
Let's not exaggerate now. A lot of what you said is true, but most comic books are really, really, really, really bad. Especially ones made in the past 20 years.
You expect nuanced critiquing on a shithole like Cinemaphile?
I agree with this. The comic is bad, but yikes I'd say I've easily read 30 that are worse.
I wouldn't say this one is worse than Batman RIP for example. Maybe on the same level of bad? But not worse.
Because it is one of the greatest cape comics of all time.
A story about an old vigilante regaining his youth, his purpose in life, reining in his demon, and overcoming everything, even besting a god. Terrific stuff.
Miller gave Gotham a pulse with all the mass media and politics portions.
It's also my favorite version of Batman to date.
This is ugly art
Like he's transforming into one of the gargoyles/grotesques he stands on when overlooking the city.
He's bursting with Batzeal.
This Batman lumpy af
You need to remember the landscape it came out in. This came out at the time when Batman was best known for his Adam West portrayal and was firmly viewed as goofy and camp. This went very far in the other direction, further than ideal, but with purpose. It shook up the public perception of the character and pulled the cultural needle more towards the ideal of what Batman should be. It was the blunt rock that broke the walls of what Batman could be to the common audience.
>hurr durr durr an artistic masterpiece looks like shit because some of the faces are ugly
capegays were a mistake
>Why do people call this one of the greatest comic books of all time
Two words.
Gay.
Joker.
That's the massive appeal of the comic, it has a big comeback of Joker, and he's totally gay for Batman (darling).
Miller let loose the thinly disguised homoeroticism of the Batman mythos for the first time.
Next question.
TDKR Joker is the only time they've managed to make him creepy, imo. Morrison tried too but it ended up being a Marilyn Manson cosplay.
Because it shows everybody else in gotham is idiot, showing why they need batman.
Batman is the only sane person in gotham.
Here's your (You), OP.
>>made Robin a girl for some reason or another
Gotta spooge to something.
It's either her or the tall chick with swastika nipples.
Best comic ever
