>Dave the Barbarian in 2004 had a "medieval setting with modern stuff" gimmick >the pop culture references of the second film are either dated or stale >fairytale parodies like Hoodwinked, Happily N'Ever After and Enchanted became common >Frozen is all about subverting fairytale tropes and features of duo of beloved female characters much better written than Fiona
the franchise has aged poorly. Only the first movie holds up (ignoring the Smashmouth songs and Matrix 1 reference)

Donkey is an infinitely better sidekick than Olaf. He acts as a foil for Shrek and plays a key role in the plot. Olaf just exists for merchandising.

Not it ins't at all Sharktaleposter, Frozen is just a generic princess story, it was in no way more creative or different than any of the previous 10 Disney princess movies before it.
They can damn well mock Frozen. They just have to mock the power of friendship and then mock twist villains to mock modern fairy tale movies. Donkey can be an Anna stand in. They can do a bunch of jokes trying to imply Shrek is Elsa, and Shrek can have no idea what's going on. >One true love doesn't have to be romantic Shrek. I don't know what's wrong with you don't you value our friendship? Our friendship is the one true love. >Well fine when you get turned to ice, because you have a heart of cold dark stone I won't come kiss you, and you'll regret tossing our sisterly love aside because you'll just be there as a big smelly green Shrek popsicle.
>Shrek : Myke Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, John Lithgow
>Shrek 2 : Myke Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, John Cleese, Jennifer Saunders, Antonio Banderas, Rupert Everett, Julie Andrews, Larry King/Jonathan Ross, Joan Rivers/Kate Thornton
>Shrek 3 : Myke Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, Antonio Banderas, Rupert Everett, Julie Andrews, John Cleese, Larry King, Justin Timberlake, Eric Idle, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Amy Sedaris, Cheryl Oteri, Ian McShane, Regis Philbin, John Krasinski
they really should've stopped after the first movie
first movie is a stone cold classic, regardless of what came after. They never expected it would gross almost 500 mil worldwide and win the first academy award for Best Animated Feature, let alone be added to National Film Registry 20 years later
i can't believe we're so lucky to live in a timeline where Shrek and Shark Tale exist. What Vicky Jenson directed alongside Andrew Adamson and Bibo Bergeron is amazing. Both films are works of art
>Antz, Shrek, Shark Tale, Madagascar, Bee Movie, kung fu Panda
almost consistently good run of original CG films. Over the Hedge is the only exception imo. It's bland and forgettable
>Antz : Eric Darnell, Tim Johnson >Shrek : Andrew Adamson, Vicky Jenson >Shark Tale : Bibo Bergeron, Vicky Jenson, Rob Letterman >Madagascar : Eric Darnell, Tom McGrath >Bee Movie : Steve Hickner, Simon J. Smith >Kung Fu Panda : John Stevenson, Mark Osborne
Shark Tale had the El Dorado director (Bergeron) and Bee Movie had the Prince of Egypt director (Hickner)
>rasta jellyfishes were so stupid/stoned that they didn't see the anchor next to the dead shark and then connected the dots that maybe, just maybe, Oscar didn't kill the shark
He's definitely not worse than guy but he's generally about as annoying considering you can't have a discussion about any fricking Dreamworks movie without him barreling in and talking about some other completely different movie because he's latched onto this place for social interaction. I still don't know why though, Reddit would unironically be a better fit for him and he might even find like-minded autists there.
>Penney Finkelman Cox and Sandra Rabins were the producers of Prince of Egypt and executive producers of Antz and Shrek
not a coincidence that those are the best early Dreamworks films. Their absence in El Dorado really shows. They left the studio in early 2002
Why did you leave the other thread not about El Dorado to come to a different thread also not about El Dorado to talk about El Dorado?
This is why people take issue with your posts, they don’t want to hear unprompted google dumps that have nothing to do with the subject of the thread. Why leave the other one just to repeat that shit here? Where is the logic in that? Why the hell do you keep doing this?
Good
Uhhhh Minion bros?

Is it? I mean it's mostly just Brother Bear with Princesses
that was Brave... and even then, Merida is a better character than Fiona ever was
Donkey is an infinitely better sidekick than Olaf. He acts as a foil for Shrek and plays a key role in the plot. Olaf just exists for merchandising.

Tangled was much better.
Tangled was fantastic, Frozen is a weak generic story in a good looking movie.
regardless if Tangled is better than Frozen or viceversa, both films will age better than Shrek 2
>ignoring the Smashmouth songs
(You) aren't a rockstar
they are great songs, don't get me wrong. I'm a Believer ending is a blast
Frick off STAN

There is nothing subversive about "I am a pretty princess and I will get away with being a shithead". Ariel did it first.
It's too late, no one can stop illumination now
All the Shrek fans are grown up. I want an R-rared Shrek.

i don't get why UK dub of Shrek 2 had the Larry King and Joan Rivers characters be played by Jonathan Ross and Kate Thornton. It's pointless
Funny thing as well is that Joan Rivers is also way more well known in the UK than Kate Thornton
And Andy Peters dubbed over the baggage handler in Toy Story 2
first movie is a stone cold classic, regardless of what came after. They never expected it would gross almost 500 mil worldwide and win the first academy award for Best Animated Feature, let alone be added to National Film Registry 20 years later
I loved it as a kid d watched it nonstop for years, but I watched it again as an adult and have a new appreciation for it.
3 already hit that note.
i can't believe we're so lucky to live in a timeline where Shrek and Shark Tale exist. What Vicky Jenson directed alongside Andrew Adamson and Bibo Bergeron is amazing. Both films are works of art
bless these people

Shrek 2 could've used some shots like this one
>rasta jellyfishes were so stupid/stoned that they didn't see the anchor next to the dead shark and then connected the dots that maybe, just maybe, Oscar didn't kill the shark
What was the point of helping Arthur then
it's weird how Arthur is the main character of 3, not Shrek
Is he the most pathetic schitzo? He's not even funny to laugh at.
He's definitely not worse than guy but he's generally about as annoying considering you can't have a discussion about any fricking Dreamworks movie without him barreling in and talking about some other completely different movie because he's latched onto this place for social interaction. it always does hurt waking up one day and realizing one of Cinemaphile's schizoids have been banned.
despite not being a fan of Shrek 2, i would still watch it anyday before El Dorado and Kung Fu Panda 2. Those really get under my skin
>El Dorado was an uninspired cliche
he ain't wrong there
Why did you leave the other thread not about El Dorado to come to a different thread also not about El Dorado to talk about El Dorado?
As long as that oddly attractive twink wolf is back, I'm ok.
you'd think would've learned that they can't milk shit forever but here we are I guess.
Hollywood suits will NEVER fricking learn because they are so out of touch with their audiences.
>Hollywood suits will NEVER fricking learn
it will make more than it costs, they understand

It's all ogre now
