"Silk and the Spider Society" fires its entire writers team

>The hotly anticipated "Silk: Spider Society" has let go of its entire writers room, minus its showrunner and one of the co-executive producers, as the show gets a developmental overhaul
>Sources indicate the show is being rewritten to appeal to a male-focused audience in lieu of Amazon's recent string of successes with shows like "Reacher", "Jack Ryan", and "The Terminal List", eschewing its formerly YA/female target group.
>"Spider-Man Noir" also received a surprise update; sources indicate that Nicolas Cage is "serious talks" to reprise his role as the character which he first portrayed in 2018's "Into the Spider-Verse". The show will be an animated action-mystery set in a stylized 1930s.

No, it just means no feminist malebashing crap, no boring scenes with her talking about her feelings to her vapid friends, or endless minutes of sitting around sketching or writing a diary, hanging out with other girls doing stupid crap and giggling. Either Amazon has their demographics mixed up; or this article does. Amazon Prime is a network for dads and Boomers that sometimes invests into shoes for people who actually matter (but thankfully doesn't have any content restrictions).

As a man; I'm HAPPY to hear they are making Silk for a male audience (we've all seen that happened when Teen Titans was made for women); but I'm pretty sure Amazon isn't making it for people who watch Reacher.

Its to late frankly, the situation is well past the point of no return print media in the United States is buoyed by legacy titles and billionaires buying out news media. You have to look to Japan or Korea for a culture that has a decent comics culture that accepts it as a medium, not a genre, and they can target specific groups with stories rather than butcher characters in vain attempts to get a different audience they were never able to target

Is there ANY good reason to pander to women????? Superheroes are for boys and men.

The funny thing is, Mayday is EVERYTHING that they want out of a heroine. A strong female hero with a large backlog of comics and a completely clean back story with no major embarrassments, but neither corporation will ever touch her (thankfully) because you need to show a happy and competent Peter. Which Disney doesn’t want because it’s sexist and Sony can’t have because they’d have to pay marvel more

There are plenty of reasons to pander to women. The problem is that a small number of feminists activists, gender weirdos, the mentally ill, and fatties have outsized influence in media and completely distorted perception of what women actually want, leading to women essentially gaslighting themselves in public. It's a psychotic game that only makes sense to its participants. They will praise Lizzo but watch Barbie instead. They will vote for gun control and more immigration, but live with their conservative husband on a homestead far from the maddening crowds. They will support trans athletes, up until they actually have to compete against them, at which time they will conveniently announce their retirement.
Frankly, women enjoy much of the same stuff men do, just through a different lens. I won't say Silk will be a success, but this "male-oriented" version will ironically do better with women than whatever they had planned. Because women can't be honest, as they all hate each other. Keep this in mind, and you will find yourself more forgiving of their silliness.

A big problem with these female led projects is that they end up fighting a thinly veiled patriarchy metaphor (because the shows are what they are by who they are) they're not even really challenged that metaphor so it just becomes a story about a can do anything hero dabbing on the haters, which is boring.
If you break that mold by making a villain that actually puts the heroine through the wringer that already could change things on a fundamental level.

To be fair majority of her career she's never had an emphasis on her body, so it makes sense that most people assume she's the most generic plain Disney girl body type. And to be fair....yeah that's not thicc....not bad but not thicc.

The showrunner has to choose an Asian actress with thick legs with a fat ass like Brenda Song, if she chooses a skeleton actress the show won't last half a season.

Pretty sure they're sticking with the chick that's already implied to be Cindy and even if they weren't they'd probably go with a Korean actress. At best Korean-American leaving the chance of her not being a rail slim

Women don't like costume superhero action so hopefully that means we get some.

That's why Madame Web just has the costume action stuff for literally 30 seconds at the end.
