>The hotly anticipated "Silk: Spider Society" has let go of its entire writers room, minus its showrunner and one of the co-executive producers, as the show gets a developmental overhaul
>Sources indicate the show is being rewritten to appeal to a male-focused audience in lieu of Amazon's recent string of successes with shows like "Reacher", "Jack Ryan", and "The Terminal List", eschewing its formerly YA/female target group.
>"Spider-Man Noir" also received a surprise update; sources indicate that Nicolas Cage is "serious talks" to reprise his role as the character which he first portrayed in 2018's "Into the Spider-Verse". The show will be an animated action-mystery set in a stylized 1930s.

All I know about this character is sex pheromones mean she can't stop having sex with Peter.
>"people" hated it
morons the lot of them, the sex pheromones were peak
How would spider pussy smell, guys?
we need to somehow revert the spiderman rights to marvel but continue the spiderman noir show
>we need to somehow revert the spiderman rights to marvel
As if that would make it any better.
indicate the show is being rewritten to appeal to a male-focused audience in lieu of Amazon's recent string of successes with shows like "Reacher", "Jack Ryan", and "The Terminal List", eschewing its formerly YA/female target group.
holy shit, this means fan service right?
No, it means it's going to be some kind of 2024 version of "24" like the listed shows.
This just means they're stripping back the special effects budget. It'll be The Eternals or Teen Titans all over again.
>Frick Spider-Man.
No. It means that Silk might actually be a badass and kill villains if Reacher and Jack Ryan is anything to go by. Can't comment on The Terminal List since I never watched it.
it means it will be the exact same but without trans flags.
It means they realized attractive asian women only appeal to men and ignite female jealousy, and they couldn't bring themselves to uglify her enough to make her safe for white girls.
No, it just means no feminist malebashing crap, no boring scenes with her talking about her feelings to her vapid friends, or endless minutes of sitting around sketching or writing a diary, hanging out with other girls doing stupid crap and giggling. Silk is a loner anyway. More action, more violence.
Maybe, but more likely it means they'll actually focus on making some sort of plot instead of screaming about "I'm a superhero because I'm a strong woman" shit every 20 seconds. Maybe. That's assuming they have any competent writers left to hire.
>mandatory diversity hiring, even in the writer's room
It's literally impossible to get anything good made with the morons infesting the workplace. You will get nothing but the same fricking trash you've been served for the past decade.
Bon apetit.
Get rid of woke writers, who are 99% female and this problem is resolved nearly overnight

S O U R C E ?
Goddamn I'm so tired of Spider shit. I don't care for any of this.
It's Marvel's Batman. What did you expect?
>"Reacher", "Jack Ryan", and "The Terminal List",
How are those 3?
Filled with fanservice?
breasts and asses?
Gritty action.
So basically, what they're saying here is that they're going to turn this Silk show into another version of Echo.
Can we go back to having just one spider based superhero please?
>Sources indicate the show is being rewritten to appeal to a male-focused audience in lieu of Amazon's recent string of successes with shows like "Reacher", "Jack Ryan", and "The Terminal List", eschewing its formerly YA/female target group.
Either Amazon has their demographics mixed up; or this article does. Amazon Prime is a network for dads and Boomers that sometimes invests into shoes for people who actually matter (but thankfully doesn't have any content restrictions).
As a man; I'm HAPPY to hear they are making Silk for a male audience (we've all seen that happened when Teen Titans was made for women); but I'm pretty sure Amazon isn't making it for people who watch Reacher.
>shoes for people who actually matter
It's weird that Amazon Prime is getting the "dad tv" reputation when Wheel of Time was about taking one of the most Dad fantasy series ever and completely casting and rewriting it to appeal to wine aunts.
I like how you could have a setting where male magic users are prone to insanity and it still isn't feminist enough for modern audiences
>The hotly anticipated "Silk: Spider Society
lol ok
Is there ANY good reason to pander to women????? Superheroes are for boys and men.
Perhaps one day we'll get a return to form.
They think they can turn them into new customers, while spitting on their old ones.
And I guess they're too lazy to create a new character with their own genre or some shit.
Course, I'm not even sure they can actually do that with comics. What do women and girls supposedly want, romantic fantasy stuff? How do you do that in comics without it just becoming porn?
>What do women and girls supposedly want
Hot men. It's that simple. Quite ironic, when you think about it.
Yeah, my sister-in-law will watch pretty much anything with a shirtless muscular guy in it. That's basically the main thing keeping the Fast and Furious franchise going.
>How do you do that in comics without it just becoming porn?
Who cares?
Why would you be scared to put some sexy shit in your romance comic?
Its to late frankly, the situation is well past the point of no return print media in the United States is buoyed by legacy titles and billionaires buying out news media. You have to look to Japan or Korea for a culture that has a decent comics culture that accepts it as a medium, not a genre, and they can target specific groups with stories rather than butcher characters in vain attempts to get a different audience they were never able to target
The funny thing is, Mayday is EVERYTHING that they want out of a heroine. A strong female hero with a large backlog of comics and a completely clean back story with no major embarrassments, but neither corporation will ever touch her (thankfully) because you need to show a happy and competent Peter. Which Disney doesn’t want because it’s sexist and Sony can’t have because they’d have to pay marvel more
>Sony can’t have because they’d have to pay marvel more
They already have the rights to Mayday. That's why she was in Spider-Verse 2.
For peter anon, you can’t have a proper mayday without Peter. Besides there’s nothing in the spiderverse movies that has any reverence or love for the product. It’s just content by disaffected boomers letting b***h ass Millenials write their propaganda about the world in a movie they didn’t have the talent to give a proper ending to
>you can’t have a proper mayday without Peter
Why are you pretending like you have any idea what you're talking about? Peter is with her the entire movie.
Dunno what you guys are talking about but spider-verse deadbeat dad is not peter parker
>deadbeat
I don't think you know what that word means.
His daughter is with him throughout the entire movie. Wtf are you talking about "deadbeat?"
exactly. Name a more irresponsible parent
I’m talking about doing something with mayday as the lead anon. The cute attempt to sell plushies while her dad was spoken down to by every stronk poc wasn’t anything more than what I said it was. Though it doesn’t matter, it’s all ruined now and miles has tainted anything fun about the franchise left. The best hope is Sony officially tanks the brand and takes Disney with it
Whoa there homie lets not pretend like Peter in those movies (Peter B.) is a GOOD Peter by any means. He's a liifelong failure, a coward who needed a child to tell him to bareback his own wife, and a hypocrite who told a kid to let his father die when he would have never done the same for his family.
Peter in the movies sucks.
>mayday as the lead anon
Eh, I fear it'd be the same as all the other movies that star or feature the Hero's daughter. Never cared for those. Lion King 2 and Balto 2 left a bad taste in my mouth.
I wouldn’t want mayday to have a movie, I’d prefer her to have a Saturday morning cartoon show. Give it to Faust and give her 25 episodes, tell her that you can’t make her gay but anything goes
I honestly don’t know if that’s an editorial mandate or just a lack of creativity from the writers. I like him married but understand why they don’t want that, I just want him not to be a complete b***h all the time
>tell her that you can’t make her gay but anything goes
Good call because I can see that shit happening from a mile away.
Monkey's Paw though: April is going to be gay, somehow.
I couldn’t care less honestly, I always liked thirsty little mayday that never did anything, but boy did she think it.
That's respectable. I like that too.
I think it's laughable to imagine, if also annoying. But if they can make young Bobby Drake gay while older Bobby is somehow straight, then they can make one girl straight but have her clone be gay somehow. Still, only my imagination.
Anon, both Bobby's are gay.One was in the closet until the other got outed.
...But that's fricking stupid, he had a history of female love interests. He had a crush on Emma Frost!
I suppose that all lesbians are in the straight closet if you retcon them having interest in male characters at some point then. God I hate this shit so much. Fricking Bendis and the limpwrist frick who wrote that Iceman comic, screw them both.
Isn't it also because Peter CAN'T be happy according to suits at Marvel, claiming his life issues are his selling point?
This all these companies got greedy and decided they needed to appeal to a wider audience but every single one of them fricked up by alienating the existing audience away and driving the customers away. It's like a popular steakhouse deciding it needs more business so they stop serving steaks and change into a vegan restaurant while keeping steakhouse in the name.
>What do women and girls supposedly want
shoujo manga and BL
chinks and asiatics seem to be able to copy the elevens just fine
comics just need to step it up senpai
Women spend more than men on consumer products. That's a fact. They did that even before the started earning as much as men on average, which is second fact. If you think it's anything other than money, you're wrong.
You're forgetting that women on average don't spend their money on the shit that guys like. Action, sci-fi, fantasy are mostly guy things. Women in general are super materialistic and like to go shopping for clothing, israeliteelry and cosmetics.
Why pander to women? Little girls have frozen, horny older ladies have 50 shades, and the middle group? They're partying and getting railed by Chad. That's why none of them watched that dumb fricking Harley Quinn movie or The Marvels.
None to speak of, but the fujos will creep in and infest as they always do, lurking at the fringes like pic related. But they prefer it that way, so literally everyone that matters to the medium wins.
women wouldn't have stood for one more day, they wouldn't have wanted Spider-Man to abandon his wife and frick random prostitutes
There are plenty of reasons to pander to women. The problem is that a small number of feminists activists, gender weirdos, the mentally ill, and fatties have outsized influence in media and completely distorted perception of what women actually want, leading to women essentially gaslighting themselves in public. It's a psychotic game that only makes sense to its participants. They will praise Lizzo but watch Barbie instead. They will vote for gun control and more immigration, but live with their conservative husband on a homestead far from the maddening crowds. They will support trans athletes, up until they actually have to compete against them, at which time they will conveniently announce their retirement.
Frankly, women enjoy much of the same stuff men do, just through a different lens. I won't say Silk will be a success, but this "male-oriented" version will ironically do better with women than whatever they had planned. Because women can't be honest, as they all hate each other. Keep this in mind, and you will find yourself more forgiving of their silliness.
Honestly the worst part is if you could get a decent writers room comprised of half decent comic fans and the other half competent soap opera writers, you have more than a decade of television to adapt with peter as a hapless love interest both losing women because he’s spidey, and losing them because he has a temper and no time for their shit.
>Is there ANY good reason to pander to women????? Superheroes are for boys and men
Jujutsu kaisen
Demon slayer
SnK
Without women, all of them aren't successful
>women are to blame for me being unable to walk two steps without hearing about gay shonenshit
As if I needed more reasons to hate femoids.
None of those series pander to women, in fact, they did well in part because they focused on providing for the primary demographic instead of changing things to appeal to women.
Hell, JJK even unceremoniously killed off the pretty-boy character that every girl gushes over and still does gangbusters with its battle autism powerwanking primary audience.
All of those are shounen for a reason.
KnY was written by a woman, though.
Women like superheroes
based, this is how progressive media begins to die
The one upside to this is that they're showing at least the willingness to pivot. That does not absolve Sony as a whole for the amount of crap it shat out to get to this point, or the completely cynical reason why they're pivoting. But it shows there's a modicum of self-preservation at the company. That's more than I can say for some.
Female-led capeshit is all terrible regardless, so no matter what they'd do it will be shit.
Best to scrap it completely.
wasn't this character "created" by dan sloth
who gives a shit
>hotly anticipated
This better translate to "we're making Cindy's suit extra tight, borderline cameltoe and nipple bumps".
>the show is being rewritten to appeal to a male-focused audience
I don't want this.
Hopefully what this means is that the inevitable strawman misogynist antagonists are being removed. Because they're pretty damn common in this shit.
But does it mean we might get a villain who's actually worth a damn in a female-led capeshit?
Because I've yet to see that happen.
>But does it mean we might get a villain who's actually worth a damn in a female-led capeshit?
Hopefully.
A big problem with these female led projects is that they end up fighting a thinly veiled patriarchy metaphor (because the shows are what they are by who they are) they're not even really challenged that metaphor so it just becomes a story about a can do anything hero dabbing on the haters, which is boring.
If you break that mold by making a villain that actually puts the heroine through the wringer that already could change things on a fundamental level.
Honestly, these villains are always just made so pathetic that I find it impossible to take them seriously even when the movie or a show wants me to.
closest was Ludendorf in Wonder Woman even if he's not the true big bad of the story. but i'm biased i think Danny Huston is a great actor.
Hey I'm sure they wouldn't been Racist towards Asians instead....only white and hillbilly stereotypes despite being set in New York City.
>Hotly anticipated
Who gives a frick about Silk?
I give a frick about Silk's body.
I do now, just the idea of companies doing something for a male audience again is amazing, I really hope this ends up being good and shows other companies that stuff made for a male audience still does well
Sony.
It's another typical case of the companies trying to decided what's popular instead of the fans.
What the hell has been going on with entertainment writers recently?
Fricking finally, I'll probably actually buy it now
I can’t stop fricking laughing, holy frick, we’re might finally be starting to see the inverse to woke reboot and watching the melt down is fricking amazing, I really hope they don’t back down, seeing twitter people’s reactions to something they loved getting a reboot made for the exact opposite audience as them, it’s great, please let this be a success.
>hotly anticipated "Silk: Spider Society
Didn't even know it was a thing and I dearly hope it dies on the vine.
>Nicolas Cage is "serious talks" to reprise his role as the character which he first portrayed in 2018's "Into the Spider-Verse". The show will be an animated action-mystery set in a stylized 1930s.
This I like, lukewarm to annoyed by the spider-verse movies as I am on the whole. I'd prefer CDB as Noir again, but Cage did a good job and I'd like to see him get more work. If they could somehow work in Brendan Fraser in the show, I'd be happy.
Silk can't catch a break. Though I do hope the Insomniac version fares better
Insomniac will make sure to ugly her up like they did with Mary Jane.
At this point they will probably put in a male that identifies as female just because they're upset at people liking the model for Stellar Blade.
Oh, I'm certain we're not too far off from western game devs using trannies to model female characters.
I actually really like Silk, I need to get back to reading her book.
>I actually really like Silk
>I need to get back to reading her book.
Really likes. Doesn't read.
Something doesn't add up here.
I can be a strange fellow
>The hotly anticipated
yes
I guess this is who they're going with? She's currently on the Marvel payroll as Cindy Moon
Shame about her nose.
>the show is being rewritten to appeal to a male-focused audience
So...porn then.
God I wish.
Maybe then it'd be worth watching.
They should just make Silk a white girl with an Asian boyfriend.
we love our asian women don't we folks
If they cast Alexandra DDario as the real Spider-Woman and just make it about her maybe I’ll pirate it
The showrunner has to choose an Asian actress with thick legs with a fat ass like Brenda Song, if she chooses a skeleton actress the show won't last half a season.
>The showrunner has to choose an Asian actress like Brenda Song, if she chooses a skeleton actress the show won't last half a season.
LOL! Brenda Song IS skeletal! In no world or universe would anybody ever describe Brenda Song as "an Asian actress with thick legs with a fat ass" as you just did.
Not that anon, but is this the person you two are talking about?
If she is, then I guess she looks skeletal to thiccgays, and fat to sticcgays.
Anne Boonchuy is so hot bros
To be fair majority of her career she's never had an emphasis on her body, so it makes sense that most people assume she's the most generic plain Disney girl body type. And to be fair....yeah that's not thicc....not bad but not thicc.
Pretty sure they're sticking with the chick that's already implied to be Cindy and even if they weren't they'd probably go with a Korean actress. At best Korean-American leaving the chance of her not being a rail slim
Women don't like costume superhero action so hopefully that means we get some.
That's why Madame Web just has the costume action stuff for literally 30 seconds at the end.
Please cast Adeline Rudolph. She was rumored when the show was first announced
