damn, Lorne looks like shit, hes gotta be retiring anyday now right? or is he planning on running the show until he suddenly drops dead during one of the live shows?
it unironically is time for him to retire. what the hell does an old straight WHIIIITE man know about present day comedy?? i think its time for a woman (preferably a biPOC and/or lgbtqia+ woman) to take over, we need a new perspective on the dinosaur that is SNL
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Saturday_Night_Live_cast_members >48 seasons >163 total cast members >can name all the funny ones on one hand >70% of them are literal whos
why is this show considered so legendary again?
It's considered "legendary" by the unfunny c**ts that starred in it and by NBC's marketing team. I promise you no sane American gives a shit about the show and would be sooner rid of it than M.A.S.H. reruns.
>why is this show considered so legendary again?
It used to have some good performers and a decent sketch or two every show, and they'd book decent bands.
SNL is a satellite show for pop culture, and what I mean by that is that it's a place where all parts of the entertainment industry collaborate. You got musicians performing every week, celebrities hosting (the former most powerful person in the world included) and a platform for actors to break into Hollywood. The actual members of the show are mostly shit and so are most of the sketches. If quality determined SNL's longevity then it would've been cancelled ages ago
>it's a place where all parts of the entertainment industry collaborate
wow, so all parts of the industry deliver nothing but garbage now? how did that happen?
When it was railing against the system (no matter what side of the aisle) SNL still had irreverence and relevance. When it became so politically motivated about a decade ago any funny died like Belushi.
Is that Smigel next to Ellen Cleghorne? He was a big reason SNL was so good in those days pretty much all the funniest skits were written by him and he was the head writer in those days I believe
Half of those people are the then-current writers too don’t recognize a lot of them other than Smigel and Dave Mandel (the fat guy with glasses in the upper right) who I think went on to be one of the show runners on Seinfeld and Curb and a bunch of other good sitcoms
this, like 92-94 were peak 90s SNL, Carvey, Spade, Sandler, Hartman, Farley, Meyers, and a few of the others could all consistently bring the funny, instead of crossing your fingers that ONE of the ten sketches you're going to sit through will be funny (like now) you had maybe one stinker per show otherwise it was non-stop laughs. Those were good days and the only few seasons where I would actually load a video tape in the machine and record the show for additional enjoyment later, still have those tapes somewhere
Thankfully Archive.org has them all now I’ve been going back and watching from like late 80s to the mid 90s and it’s like night and day how much better it used to be
https://archive.org/details/saturday-night-live-s-18-e-02-tim-robbins-sinead-o-connor
just find an episode guide and type snl with the host name and itll be there, just picked one at random, this was the one with the famous sinead o'connor tearing up the picture of the pope incident
He was smart enough to know that you always want to leave with the audience still wanting more. Otherwise you'll become a Keenan Thompson who has been on the show 2 decades and had zero career prospects
SNL will never have the balls to air anything controversial (aka 'funny') ever again because they are owned by their advertisers. They're so out of touch, that youtube actually has the grip on the "comedy market"/"the SNL format" which is sad on many levels besides the obvious ones
>anon posts video that has only 60 views >claims to not be the dogshit nobody creator
Sure, kid. Now post an actual funny skit like the millions that exist on youtube
The fact Lorne is the face and most talking abuse person in SNL instead of any of the shows actual stars tells you all you need to know about its current state
the fat one in that pic >Aidan Mackenzy Bryant is an American actress and comedian. She was a cast member on the late-night variety series Saturday Night Live, beginning in season 38, and leaving at the end of season 47.
10 years and nothing memorable whatsoever. I would probably kill myself in that situation.
Cut 8 more. The marching battalion of diversity hires are bringing the whole show down. I swear to God, there are so many cast members that the opening credits are longer than most of the fricking sketches.
Very brave, stunning, and forward thinking. Hopefully this will serve as atonement for the ultimate sin of being a cis white male in comedy. Nazi chuds btfo.

>white
homie is like 85, wtf do you want from the old vampire?
Who’s the front runner to replace him when he retires?
Darrell Hammond probably
Tina Fey
either would be a great choice. the show might actually get watchable
Had he not gone full socialist, I would've said Adam McKay.
Ken Jennings
he'll make it to season 50 then call it quits
I'm as excited as Limmy.
>scottish tim and eric ripoff pretending he’s an authority on comedy
lmfao finally made me laugh
>Season 48
Jesus, no wonder it's so unfunny.
It was never funny

Baby boomer nostalgia.
israeli cultural hegemony. they tell you what to like goy
>why is this show considered so legendary again?
boomers
that's literally it. with every other old garbage.
Nobody gives a shit about SNL.
Do people unironically still watch this shit? It's awful. Even the skits and moments considered classic aren't even that funny.
how would you know if you don't watch it?
When it was railing against the system (no matter what side of the aisle) SNL still had irreverence and relevance. When it became so politically motivated about a decade ago any funny died like Belushi.
Kenan
Hader
Norm
Wiig
Phoeler
Murphy
Rock
Killam
Armisen
If they not on this list they not funny
way too many 2000s cast members on here, not enough 90s (the only decade the show was funny)
>90s SNL was the best SNL
quads of truth
Fricking pedophile spiral in the front
Is that Smigel next to Ellen Cleghorne? He was a big reason SNL was so good in those days pretty much all the funniest skits were written by him and he was the head writer in those days I believe
i recognise 6 of them
Half of those people are the then-current writers too don’t recognize a lot of them other than Smigel and Dave Mandel (the fat guy with glasses in the upper right) who I think went on to be one of the show runners on Seinfeld and Curb and a bunch of other good sitcoms

I'm gonna have to check that out, either that or find my VCR somewhere in storage

Boomers LEAVE
Ferrell, Sandler, and Carvey mog the shit out of that list. Rock had two good characters, and was able to squeeze about 3 sketches with them.
Also any list Hartman or Farley is invalid
*Without Hartman or Farley
>I'm yelling!
>I AM IN A SKETCH AND I AM YELIIIIIIIIIING!
Bravo, Will!
Hold on now playah
>Tim Meadows
>Colin Quinn
>Norm
>Will Forte
>John Belushi
>Bill Murray
you forgot this based lad, who had the sense to leave while he was the biggest star
He was smart enough to know that you always want to leave with the audience still wanting more. Otherwise you'll become a Keenan Thompson who has been on the show 2 decades and had zero career prospects
>zero career prospects
shit I wish I could earn millions for making monkey shines 20 weeks a year
Yeah he's totally a show business mastermind. That's why he had like 2 somewhat successful movies over the course of 50 years.
SNL will never have the balls to air anything controversial (aka 'funny') ever again because they are owned by their advertisers. They're so out of touch, that youtube actually has the grip on the "comedy market"/"the SNL format" which is sad on many levels besides the obvious ones

Cherdleys is funny as hell
Also https://youtu.be/ndNtjGuhUbI
>Comedy is only funny if it’s controversial
The best season of SNL is any season of SCTV
The gayS are out
The GREATS are back
That's thebonly to fix SNL
The fact Lorne is the face and most talking abuse person in SNL instead of any of the shows actual stars tells you all you need to know about its current state
"Live -- from New York!"
thats an underwhelming 3 hosts to start the season with
seems like no one cares about the show enough to do it anymore
>Willow musical guest
>all 3 musical guests Black folk
god I miss the 90s
Maybe white people should try making good music again.
white people are the only people making good music
Gonna miss -- what's their name. You know. The guy, who did the thing?
How the frick was Aidy Bryant on SNL for like 11 years
Man this show has been bad for a long time
Who the frick is Aidy Bryant?
the fat one in that pic
>Aidan Mackenzy Bryant is an American actress and comedian. She was a cast member on the late-night variety series Saturday Night Live, beginning in season 38, and leaving at the end of season 47.
10 years and nothing memorable whatsoever. I would probably kill myself in that situation.
I haven't watched the show regularly since 2013 I can't believe Kenan is still there, and I think I recognize that other black guy.
Kenans going into his 20th season lmao wtf why would anyone stay on this piece of shit that long?
Beck Bennett’s been carrying this goddamn show for years
Beck left a year ago
I'm really looking forward to Brendan Gleeson. The man has been overlooked for so long but gives nothing but stellar performances
M'man
Fricking A.
Cut 8 more. The marching battalion of diversity hires are bringing the whole show down. I swear to God, there are so many cast members that the opening credits are longer than most of the fricking sketches.
Michael Che has the jaded Cinemaphile sense of humor, they should let him do more stuff
Totally agree.
The new season is gonna be a good one yall
>first non-binary cast member
Oh good, another person unfunny theater kids can look up to.
Very brave, stunning, and forward thinking. Hopefully this will serve as atonement for the ultimate sin of being a cis white male in comedy. Nazi chuds btfo.
I would only be excited for SNL if instead, they showed reruns of Madtv
Based
I loved this show so much
Hell yes.
MadTV gays are the worst of all. Cool that virtually every cast member besides sasso became a homosexual or insufferable woke moron
As long as Heidi and Chloe are there I will always be moderately excited.
Jesus, Lorne's morphing into George Soros.
Holy shit Kate McKinnon is finally gone

>their primary obligation is to their talent
Even in the early years when it had legitimately talented actors/comedians, it still wasn't funny. Or maybe I just don't understand boomer humor.
>one of the greatest legends of modern comedy
>no sticky
jesus fricking christ the mods on this board are useless
learn to read, israelite.
Lorne looking ready for that dirtnap
