The /npg/ is nothing different to me considering i come from /qst/ and /mlp/. Only difference is that I'm used to people putting more effort into the lore, world design, mechanics than the characters themselves. Where I come from the characters are simple personality-less PCs and taskforce groups. Even something as simple as a gimmick character like Kenny dying but reviving the next day is a luxury.
NP is obviously focused on the characters, since the world it is set in for the most part is the same as South Park, just with some unique aspects of the town thrown in occasionally.
Where I come from they care more about themes rather than the characters themselves. The characters end up being used as tools to satisfy a specific hobby, theme, fetish like how Trey handles Randy. Trey doesn't give two shits about Randy "acting in character". I wonder if his father ever watched one of the episodes and asked him "Son, why do I suddenly have a weed farm?"
