*steps up to the microphone*. Yeah hello? Is this thing on? Yeah hi, can we finally get some actual dads in animation?

Yeah hello? Is this thing on? Yeah hi, can we finally get some actual dads in animation? Preferably in the mold of Ward Cleaver and Benton Quest.
I mean, it's been 40 years already. Even anime has badass dads like Goku.

Oh, please, he'd sell out his sons and all the Earth just for a fight and a bite to eat.

Is this supposed to rip on Bandit as well? Cause if so, he perhaps one of the best fathers seen in the past 20 years.

Even before that, he was shoving Gohan aside to take all the major fights for himself, because he just can't help himself.

Mainly all the dragging battles with Cell and Buu, because Toriyama is a hack who should've stuck solely to drawing smiley faces on slimes.

Both Cell and Buu were considered world ending threats. Stuff like this had to be taken care of by known other than Goku and Vegeta as they were the strongest at the time. And to say he didn't care, he not only sacrifices himself, he literally comes back, in spirit, to help Gohan defeat Cell. As for Buu, I don't remember much about it since it wasn't as memorable as the other fights. To say he only cares about fights is a bit of an understatement

He literally acts like a gay in front of his children to get them to play with him

Do you mean the scene where he was dressed up by his daughters as a way to tease him for the teasing he did prior? Or the episode Horsey Ride were both Stripe and Bandit dressed up in wedding clothes to partake in a fake wedding for the kids enjoyment? Anon, he's a father of two girls. That's going to be seen. Ask anyone who has kids that are primarily daughters and they will tell you that is something you will encounter. It still worlds beyond the moronic Hollywood trope of Dumb fat deadbeat dad who can't hold a job and may or may not hate his family that has been going on for decades shown in shows like Family Guy, TAWOG, American Dad, The Simpsons, Fairly Odd Parents (where both of the parents are idiots btw), Adventure Time with Finn's true father, etc.

That's not saying much given his competition

Still a better father than James Possible, Jack Fenton, Bob Parr, etc.

It's funny that people remember Ward Cleaver as badass, when him being sort of cowardly to his boss is a running joke in the series.

A reminder that the standard for modern fictional fathers was set by Al Bundy, who isn't Cinemaphile, so if anything, blame him.

Technically it was the Honeymooners, which is still not Cinemaphile related but directly influenced shows like Flintstones.
