Sega haven't given the fans any incentive to buy this game, they haven't shown any desire to improve or change a formula that's been proven time and time again to not work. Sonic Frontiers is bad because Sonic Forces was bad and they're not pretending otherwise, it's perfectly fine to judge this book by it's cover because we've already read the book multiple times with slightly different covers. It's bad because it's bad.
How is the entire open world not a change of formula?
It's just a new vessel for the same formula, something that gives you breaks from the same formula, but not something that changes it. Point is, they're still using the same gameplay conventions which everyone hates, like the boost gameplay and general lack of physics.
