THE IRONY OF ENJOYING DRIVE WITHOUT OWNING A CAR OR HAVING A DRIVER'S LICENSE.

Why do so many of you like Drive when you don't even have a driver's license?

Why are you afraid to drive like the hero of this kino?

It definitely depends on what car you're driving and how long you're driving. Not a big fan of roadtrips because staring at the open road for hours and hours a day is boring as shit. But taking out a nice car for a cruise along a coast or a setting sun is pretty cool. Unfortunately, most of us are wage slaves and cool cars are out of our grasps.

Funny how you're owning yourself. All of these are power fantasies. People might not be any of those things mentioned but if they could they would.
They would want to be part of a (romanticised) war which they knew for certain they'd survive.
They would want to have the combined power of a a criminal organisation at their disposal if they knew they wouldn't rot in jail for it.
They would want to bed a tweenaged girl at the cusp of puberty without getting castrated by radfem radicalized mobs.

It's not ironic. The core of Drive is that the Driver works as a stuntman in the shadow of hollywood. As a stunt driver he's never the real hero, only an imitation. He gets into a situation in real life where he thinks he finally has an opportunity to be a real hero and then finds that the real world doesn't work like a movie. This is mirrored by how people in real life try to act like the Driver, only for things to not work out like their fantasy.

        >Can't you get a license in america at like 15?
16 in most places. Some people don't do it because they are afraid to crash or something and when they get into their 20s all the normal people call them weirdos behind their back and stop talking to them because they can't do anything or drive anywhere. It's like babysitting a moron.

Only girls can get away with not driving until they are 30. They have boyfriends who drive them around, but then eventually, they have to learn when they have kids.

Nothing is sadder than a man who can't drive.

You have trains for every town of 3k+ people in here. From there every village, if it hasn't its own train stop, would be 15-45 min away by bus.

How many towns do you think are in France ? There are more than 3000 train stations in France.
There are 943 agglomerations of more than 10k inhabitants in France.
You can visit all 943 by train, and then 2000+ more that have less than 10000 people.

You don't need a car in Europe, you can get one for fun, that's it.
Given current fuel, parking and insurance prices it's not really worth it. I can just rent something if I HAVE TO visit the one isolated castle that's nowhere near a town or go to a lake or something. But I can just as well take a train from Paris and be on a beach town in less than 2 hours.

I can't find a map of Europe that has every detail but let's take a single sub region of Italy, Lazio.
You have trains for every town of 3k+ people in here. From there every village, if it hasn't its own train stop, would be 15-45 min away by bus.

Here you have France as a whole. Some TER lines aren't detailed.

Worst acting I've ever seen in a film. I could not for a split second see him as anything but what he was, a bad actor trying to be the strong silent type and ending up looking autistic as frick. Just a joke from start to finish. Thank God for the memes.

the worst thing by far about owning a car is the insurance
i have a 97 4runner that i completely own, paid for it in full but because i'm 22 my insurance is almost $240 a month. i think it'll go down to like $232 in a month or two but fricking hell that's still awful. it's like i'm being punished or something

      Anonymous

I hear ya. That's one of the primary reasons young people are so discouraged to get cars and even bother with licenses. The insurance premiums are only going up and paying thousands of dollars a year for insurance isn't sustainable for most people at that age who probably don't even have decent jobs.

If I lived in an area that had decent public transportation, I would just use that. The costs to own and maintain a car here is fricking straight up thievery.

      Anonymous

I used public transport every day for a good 15 years. I'd die happy never having to go near a bus ever again (unfortunately I still every now and then take the bus to watch the football since it's free and driving to and parking at a stadium is a nightmare). Driving is so much better it's not even funny.

      >in an area that had decent public transportation
where? all the publictransportgays keep repeating this, but where exactly is it "decent"
I've been to Tokyo and Zuerich and even there it has massive flaws, from being very expensive to still being a massive time waste even if trains/trams/buses are always on time
Not to mention you still have to be packed with a bunch of people instead of just being cool and driving and comfy in your own car

Is it a necessity in some metropolitan areas?
      Absolutely.
Is it even remotely comparable to the convenience and comfort of any modern car?
      Never.

Uber and using a car service. The cost of having a chauffeur/sedan limo service on hand has been less than owning a car the past few years - but only because I don't drive into work regularly anymore.

I've owned and driven lots of cool cars. I also dream of cars constantly. Last night I dreamed I bought a GT labeled RSX from 2008 that was twin turbo and 600hp somehow and it had lots of fancy changes to it, bought it for $16k, thing only had 60k miles it was a fricking steal but had gay ass cloth seats. drove it for a bit then woke up. Anyways I drive so much I do it in my dreams also I hate Black folk so much I dream the Black person word and say Black person almost constantly or think it if not saying it frick Obama
