Superman should be a handyman/plumber. You get access to everything behind a locked door and nobody questions why you're thete you can disappear for days at a time and nobody notices, and unlike journalism, it's a profession that offers actual value to society.

I think the best choice for reinventing Clark Kent would be to make him the DC equivalent of Robert Bigelow. a third eccentric mega-billionaire who's privately backed multiple research projects on aliens, interstellar travel, and the supernatural.
Instead of flying, he can drive a cool car and use gadgets.
WHERE did I suggest or imply eliminating the Superman character altogether? If anything I'd give him even more powers, like shapeshifting so that Clark and Supes have different faces
