Before the internet. Journalism was a respected profession because people had to move their asses, investigate, socialize, and not repeat what someone else broke first.

      >What he said
Before clickbait and MSM journalism was a noble pursuit (if you weren’t working for a yellow paper). When Superman came out the idea was that it was a good cover story too, it explains why he would be at the scene of every disaster around Metropolis.

Everyone in the Daily Planet (including Perry White and Jimmy Olsen) knows Kent and Superman are the same person

I feel like Superman would be better without the secret identity.

The most unrealistic thing God ever did is convince the Devil that Superman doesn't exist. Matthew 21:17.

Superman should be a handyman/plumber. You get access to everything behind a locked door and nobody questions why you're thete you can disappear for days at a time and nobody notices, and unlike journalism, it's a profession that offers actual value to society.

Why would a good ol church boy from the country who believes in truth work in journalism, one of the slimest untruthful careers on the planet?

I think the best choice for reinventing Clark Kent would be to make him the DC equivalent of Robert Bigelow. a third eccentric mega-billionaire who's privately backed multiple research projects on aliens, interstellar travel, and the supernatural.

Instead of flying, he can drive a cool car and use gadgets.

WHERE did I suggest or imply eliminating the Superman character altogether? If anything I'd give him even more powers, like shapeshifting so that Clark and Supes have different faces

What jobs would work for Clark Kent though? Even Spider-Man was able to phase out of being a reporter.
