>The others heroes are edgy killers so Superman can lecture them that killing is bad and they can later grovel at Superman's feet for showing them wholesome kindness.
>The villain is an edgy killer clone who eventually deteriorates into a monster, but Superman still refuses to kill him like the other heroes want because it's not kind and wholesome.

This movie sounds really preachy. I fear it might have the reverse effect Gunn intends and just make Superman lamer to normies.

Maybe it's because I don't like Gunn, but I truly can't see this movie being better than a 6. It's marketing itself as this Messianic Superman movie that's going to make everything right and save the cape genre, but it's obviously a stealth trailer for at least 5 other films. And Gunn is apparently terrified of actually telling anyone what it's about outside "Superman's in it and he smiles"

When Batman V Superman did that everyone very rightfully called it out for this. But people are giving Gunn a pass even though he's doing the exact same thing. They're putting half the justice league and the authority into what should be a standalone Superman movie.

Yeah, pretty much. Superman's my favorite character but you have to face the facts, it's kind of an outdated thing. And they can try and transform it and change it to make it fit in with modern sensibilities but once you've done that it's no longer Superman. If it has to change to stay alive, it's probably best if it just goes away. But if we get one last good Superman fiilm? I'm all behind that.

Making clark the sole good superhero in a world of edgelords who are just as powerful as him, is really the only place you can go with Superman without going against what he represents. People always say they can't relate to Superman because he's not an underdog fighting the power the way other superheroes do. He's too overpowered to ever really struggle in a fight against a villain like Batman, everyone loves him so he doesn't have to struggle with societys acceptance of him like spiderman. This way you get a Superman you can actually root for and who actually has to struggle to prove his ways are the better ones.

Its because they hate the genre. Look at all the subversive capeshit floating around now. The "haha this is moronic right??" wink at the camera stuff.
Superman is probably the most unapologetic and earnest hero and to be true to his character means to play the capeshit genre straight, which Hollywood seems allergic to.
Also Clark is a competent straight white male who everyone looks up to. Can't be having that.
        >but batman
While batman is white and competent, he is a socially inept autist, and is the role model of every maladjusted loser who thinks they're sigma. Clark is an extrovert chad who gets along easily with people.
        >but captain america
Yeah but they even made him preach the whole "america bad" argument, even if he was otherwise good. It's got to do with an attitude like
