So I watched the infamous The Room and it's definitely a bad film, bad acting, mediocre story, unnecessary and cringy sex scenes that doesn't advance the plot (the part where the couple kiss with chocolate was admittedly hot). The way the actors delivered their lines was really bad, it made me think it was a poorly dubbed movie. There's something that lies within the movie that could have made it good, like when it was just the bros hanging around, the story itself isn't that bad and could have been elevated if it was handled by a professional director. As for the Disaster Artist, it was a good movie, and the comedy was on point, funnily enough it kind of made me appreciate The Room more, not that it makes it a better movie but as a fascinating project that was able to see light even with all the craziness behind the scenes, Franco killed it with his performance, though I don't think that's a surprise cause he's a genuinely good actor, especially when compared to his comedy actor buddies who he decided to cast as his co-stars. It is kind of funny how bad movies could be more memorable than good movies, but I guess genuine vision have a way of connecting to people's hearts, whether good or not.

Does any sex scene in any movie advance the plot? They're all unnecessary
While not a movie, the ones in Breaking Bad kind of do, because they show how Walt got a boost in confidence and is more manly/daring. In terms of movies, right now, I could only think of Beau is Afraid.
They could just have easily implied he got his confidence boosted because of sex
The cut to a scene with them lying in bed with her breathing heavily and smiling
>because of sex
I think you need to re-watch the series, Walt only got a pathetic handjob for his birthday, he got to have sex because he was more confident because of the drug business and not the reverse.
> show how Walt got a boost in confidence and is more manly/daring
If you watched that show as a teenager or something you need to rewatch; that is NOT what they’re showing.
While it's true it been more than a year since I finished BB, I'm pretty sure that is what they show, because he was only getting pathetic love treatment from his wife before he started the business with Jesse.
>genuine vision have a way of connecting to people's hearts, whether good or not.
well said
Thanks.
We already have a buzzword for that it’s called soul.

I don't know where this came from.
tommy wiseau is unironically a far more interesting person than all the hollywood people laughing at him.
too bad it became a meme and he tries to be in on the joke, the reddit irony poisoning is just a horrible way to live.
>whooooa an independent artist made a SO BAD it's GOOD movie!!!
>HAHah look at that indie artist he's not GOOD like my marvel flicks
yeah this is an example how capitalism turns people into psychopaths. you would have to be a total piece of shit to see someone making art and then join in on a mob to hate on them just to fit in. no one would do that. but when it comes to artists and filmmakers people self-identify with hollywood and act tribal, defending hollywood and tearing independent filmmakers to shreds. All zoomers must die.
look at that indie artist he's not GOOD like my marvel flicks
Who said that?

Maybe, but that doesn't mean he made a good movie.

I don't know if you're genuine or not, but what's your view on The Room?
He's mocking you to get a rise out of you
He does this all the time
>Reaction wojak
>Repeat what you said with green text
I think it came from the heart of the creator and shouldn't be judged on the same merits as the average multiplex blockbuster slop
female opinion
>same merits as the average multiplex blockbuster
Who said I was doing that? I judged it on the same metric I use for everything I watch:
>how much did I enjoy it
If you saw me talking about awards or how much money it made, maybe you would have a point in your post, but I don't care about that kind of stuff anymore.
Did you read the book? The movie made it more "Hollywood."
No, I didn't read the book. Is it any good?
get the audio book. its narrated by marks actor who does an amazing impression of tommy due to knowing him so well
Do you have a link?
The Disaster Artist movie was terrible, Franco is a hack and completely missed the point. Read the book, it is absolute kino.
Maybe I will give the book a try some time.
>the movie was terrible
Are you judging it on its own or when compared to the book?
>Are you judging it on its own or when compared to the book?
I know it's a common trope for bookgays to say "muh book was better" but seriously, go and read the first chapter and you will immediately see the problems with the movie.
In the book every second chapter tells the story of how Greg and Wiseau met in acting class and the buffoonery that would take place. The movie didn't capture any of this, it was basically a shit tier Ed Wood rip-off.
Yeah, Franco is kind of funny as Wiseau, but it's one note, and the movie doesn't hit on any of the themes of the book. The movie comes across more of a parody and mean spirited than what the book offers.
Just downloaded the book, I can't say I will read it right away because I'm not in the mood for reading anything at the moment, but I will get to it. I appreciate your passion for it.
The Disaster Artist was horribly-cast. Franco just put his pals into every role and none of them looked like the real people.
I don't know if "horribly-cast" is the right word, but he did pull an Adam Sandler and hired all his buddies. I think him and his brother did a wonderful job in terms of performance, I don't have much to say for the rest of the cast.
>none of them looked like the real people
Most of the time they never do in these kind of "based on true story" movies.
>In the scene’s opening, Johnny sits on a chair across from Lisa. The first thing Sandy noticed when Tommy sat down was that a table in the background was distractingly empty. “We can’t just shoot a blank table,” Sandy said. It wasn’t the first time it had come up that Johnny and Lisa’s condo had all the charm of my room at the Saharan Motel. (How did Tommy come to furnish his film’s imaginary condo? By walking into a thrift furniture store in L.A. and purchasing the entire mock-up apartment in its display windows. This means that Johnny and Lisa’s condo was modeled on a space purposefully designed to be uninhabited.) Early in the production Sandy offered Tommy the use of his own house to film the interiors, so as to avoid moments like these; he even brought in pictures for Tommy to consider. “Look,” Sandy said. “It would be so much easier. We don’t have to have all these props, or all these people around. Everything could be done much more quickly. We’d be in and out in a couple of days.” Tommy refused, later telling me, “If Sandy takes over, he has control. I know what he does. He wants more money. Plus, I’m sorry, his house is Mickey Mouse.”
What did Tommy mean why this?
circlejerking The Room is redditcore, you gotta be one of those neckbeards who watch fricking Rick and Morty if you do it. There is nothing fascinating about some dude making a boring indie drama fro his money in which he says his lines awkwardly because he's not a pro actor.
There are much worse movies out there, like all those turkish bootleg superhero movies from the 80s, or italian star wars rip offs.
no one fricking cares
>no one fricking cares
You cared enough to reply, sperg. Go ahead and reply to me again like the cuck you are.
boo hoo, go back to r/Cinemaphile and post about it
Black person
>There is nothing fascinating about some dude making a boring indie drama fro his money
Maybe, but not everyone could make movies where people talk about it after 20 years of its release.
>much worse movies out there
Definitely, but those are either forgotten because they're so boring/bad, or no one finish them because of how bad/boring they are.
>his house is Mickey Mouse.”
