what a stupid moron.
>Eric Idle (...) is listing his Los Angeles home for $6.495 million. Built around 1930, the five-bedroom, roughly 7,000-square-foot home is located in the Hollywood Hills. >The Spanish Revival home has three offices, two fireplaces, a wine cellar and a den. The roughly 0.7-acre lot has a pool, a bocce court, a fountain with colorful tiles, and a Koi pond. >The couple did a number of renovations during their residence, including repairing the roof and renovating the bathrooms, according to Mr. Idle, who said he didn’t know how much they spent. >They are selling because they plan to downsize, but they hope to stay in the area, he said.
An eccentric millionaire trying to buy a soon-to-be-destitute Eric Idle's house, and jerking him around during the process, sounds kind of like a Monty Python sketch.
Yep. A will is ridiculously easy to challenge and there needs to be a legitimate reason to disinherit your children from your will and I'm selfish or we're estranged isn't a valid reason.
In Spain you're required by law to leave 50% of your estate to your spouse, then of the remaining half one third is divided equally among your children, one third can be divided among your children however you'd like, and then the last third you can do whatever you want with. I think it's a good system and could save everyone a lot of time.
Yep. A will is ridiculously easy to challenge and there needs to be a legitimate reason to disinherit your children from your will and I'm selfish or we're estranged isn't a valid reason.
plus how would you even know or care you're fricking dead
They do it when they're alive as a frick you to their children. It's an immensely massive c**t move when you consider they won't even be alive to witness it but I guess they get a chuckle out of it before they die.
Good for him. Working and movement keep people alive. My grandpa worked 12 hours a day built a company from scratch to 9 figure profit margins, worked until he was 80 before finally stepping down and left the company to my dad and he died within a year of retiring, my grandma aged 85 died 6 months after her dog passed at 19 because she no longer went out for walks several hours per day
You'd be surprised with how many old people literally CHOOSE to work after retirement. They have no hobbies or interests and decide just to go back to work.
I've worked in construction for the better part of 10 years now, and a shit load of the old timers were all retired, got bored of retirement, and went back to work while also receiving SS payments.
>You'd be surprised with how many old people literally CHOOSE to work after retirement. They have no hobbies or interests and decide just to go back to work.
this is what my father did. hes currently 71 and has more than enough money. he "retired" a few years ago, yet then became "self-employed" doing basically the exact same job, still working almost every weekday, still goes on business trips driving/flying and staying in hotels for days at a time multiple times a month.
i dont think he took any time off for "retirement", and i think its because he has literally nothing else. he has no friends, he has no hobbies, he has no interests. literally all he does when he's not working is watch tv or youtube.
that will be me because thats basically my life right now, but i pray to god i am dead in the next few years

jej, written like Python banter.
Anyway, I like hearing his weird voice and maybe Todd Howard will throw some fliff his way if we get more Elder Scrolls.
>> Idle, who appeared in The Masked Singer in 2022
Shouldn't this alone be enough to get you throughout last few years? He must be spending bucketloads.
>We own everything we ever made in Python
how the frick can you own the full rights to everything monty python and not figure out how to make money? like just fricking sell t-shirt and mugs or something
The really shocking thing is that they never had another show afterwards. Obviously they're all talented and brit series tend to run short anyway. Kinda weird they didn't get together and do a couple of seasons of something just for fun. It's not like their careers went anywhere either.
And I don't care what anyone says those musicals and live shows were kinda lame.
these celebrities get used to being rich and when they talk about needing to still work for a living what they mean is they need to still work to live a rich lifestyle that they enjoyed during their peak years
one might reasonably expect a former b-list celebrity to be able to just goof off in old age and do odd acting roles for fun rather than for the paycheck
My father started working a year after retirement. Literally the only reason is because he cant stand spending all that time with my mother. Loves my mom, but cant spend 24/7 with her
I could use some work too after the government robbed me because i wouldn't blow up hospitals for the israelites. I don't expect anyone to be a saint but come on now... that shit was just pure evil.
If your passed the age of 45 and still need to work then why not just kys yourself? Like for real what is there left to live for that yall break yall back working at old age? Better to just do something cool and illegal and then end it happy by eating a bullet or suicide by cop.
I'm 7 years away from 45 and having fricking nothing. I'll be lucky to retire at 65 though if my inheritance I get from my father is reasonable it's a possibility. He lives in a $2 million house.
He's lived in the US most his life. Plus these people get lifestyle creep which means they act like they're destitute when they still probably earn more than most people
That being said the UK state pension isnt that big, it's mostly a safety net to stop you starving to death. Most people will have a workplace pension they have to contribute into. I think other euro countries have mainly state pensions though
Free healthcare yes, retirement pensions are much more complicated. State pensions are only awarded to men over 65 last I remember, however the rate is not living cost adjusted and so it would not be possible to live in London (Hence why older people tend to retire to the country). The alternative is the private pension schemes, biggest being the nhs pension and service pension (both private despite being state entities due to a quirk of the nhs foundation and neocon Thatcher policy). Private pensions vary hugely and are often controlled in part by unions, in Britain if Idle was receiving a pension it would most likely be through the Equity union. The very high cost of living here prices you out of most pension plans, so all in all no our benefits do not outweight the economic negatives of the UK. The one hope you get is that the nhs covers medical emergencies (but not end of life care, well at least not the kind you particularily want to stay allive for very long in)
reminder this is bait.
he is worth millions of dollars and he is choosing to work.
he could easily sell all his assets and retire to a small villa or cottage where he would still have millions of dollars leftover.
If I get to 65 or whatever and I'm financially fricked, I'll just start walking towards the sea (I'm at least 700 km from it) and take a nice swim and see how far I can make it until I just drown. If I die on the way, even better.
If I hate to take a legal challenge to inherit from my parents I would use at least half of it sullying their legacy and ensuring that history thought they were basically Hitler

More like Eric Keepfrickinggoing
literally all he had to is move out from UK
he could find some mansion easily in western europe for pennies. he's a celebrity so that would be easy
but no, he has to fricking live in London.
He's lived most of his life in California.

Yep. A will is ridiculously easy to challenge and there needs to be a legitimate reason to disinherit your children from your will and I'm selfish or we're estranged isn't a valid reason.
Anyone whose parents divorced and remarried is likely to end up with nothing.
No, those kids still have a right to contest a will that leaves them out.

idk how that works since Idle is not really some jet setting celebrity that is going around partying and has to live it up.
can't imagine him burning money at any crazy rate
>Spamalot made money 20 years ago.
Buy a house in any major Western City 20 years ago. Have at least a million in appreciation.
His fault. Must be a cocaine addict or something.
What work is he actually doing?
Pulling tricks
baskin roberts trust fund band
do zoomers have any interest in, or even knowledge of, monty python whatsoever?
no I don't watch wildlife shows

are there other reasons to work?

has he tried looking on the bright side of life?
Something tells me I wouldn't feel sorry for him if I knew about his monthly expenses.
isnt that why most people work though?
>welcome to Walmart, fancy a spot of cheese?
Ignore the inflation, we must keep funding 3+ wars simultaneously.
he looks israeli. can't he just call the bank?
he's one of those brits who unfortunately looks israeli but is just a brit. So he's poor and ugly
