movie operates according to Myst rules so it's kino, end of story.

The only problem I have with this movie is that the kicks don't seem to behave consistently and they never specified if it was the falling sensation or the impact that was kicking them.

it's both. Gravity shifts (and running water) are felt on the lower levels but they stay asleep until a significant jolt AND the sedative wears off iirc

The dream level sedative is designed to not impede inner ear function so the kicks are supposed to work through the sedative.

Is the kick even a real procedure IRL? They're only shown using it on dream layers

They don't need a kick on the plane, they just need the sedative to wear off there.

The car chase has enough of these to make you question the logic though.

they also just wake up on the train

They all woke up there because they were killed by Saito's projections, but Saito stayed asleep because the drug was still active and there was nothing happening in the dream to wake him.

      this anon

      is right
both would wake you up but when they were too deep all the dream levels had to kick at the same time so when the car fell off it didn't work because the other dream levels weren't kicking then

    >first view: wtf is this self-indulgent shit
    >falling views: acknowledge that the dream leveling is just a cool gimmick and its core it's a character-driven movie about a flawed character trying to to reconnect with his family

Ditto. I used to remember it as a non stop intense thriller but on a recent watch I found it dull, boring and terribly episodic.

    Zimmer's Koyaanisqatsi.
the movie itself is trash and confusing without the score which makes it.

Only watched this once, tried to rewatch but it's just annoying.
Shit it off when they woke up in the train after releasing their chink captive.

So what does Cobb do now? He surely retired from the dream heist business. So he takes the kids to school, and maybe the first couple of weeks he gets to relax and enjoy. But then...it's been a month, he's done with the house chores and it's 10:30 am. Suddenly he feels an almost uncontrollable urge. It's that bottle isn't it? He had noticed a 1931 Grand Marnier on the old cabinet, but never paid that much attention to it, since he was never big on drinking. How did it even get there? Must have been Mal's...They probably never even got to opening it.
But now...it was calling him. 'Just a sip, just a sip, you deserve it'

he can still do dream heists. the issue was that he "killed" Mal. If i remember, she sent letter out to frame him to convince him to jump from the balcony with her.

Took me a long while to get dreams in dreams. Waking from one into another but thinking the 2nd one is real is a big mind rape. Altho I have found a certain awareness of ones body making it known you're awake. Just gotta remember it in a double dream. Nicotine and kratom boosted the craziness of dreams a lot. As a daily stoner, even weed makes it more intense at times, doesn't keep dreams away at low doses anymore. Thanks for reading my gay little blog post

if we're supposed to care about the corporate intrigue and not think of it as basically another dream layer rat race, someone screwed up big time

So was The Dark Knight, so was Dark Knight Rises, and so was Tenet. Nolan has made a career of remaking Heat in different genres.
