What does that have to do with anything? Rock Hitlers are the diamonds and the main villain. What is a jerk character gonna do in comparison? I don't get your argument of "they are worse because they are real" when the premise was never about realism at all.
At the end of the day, it all comes down to projection. People got bullied or harassed by jerks in high school so seeing it in a cartoon triggers that memory all over again.
These same people have probably never read about genocide in depth, let alone know people who have experienced it first hand, so they could care less when fictional characters do it. It's really narcissistic when you think about it.
I think its creepy just based on the fact of "Well, yeah, genocide is bad, but look at that sexual harasser in the show! That's much more real!".
As if genocide, a mass death event, is less "real" than sexual harassment. Like, holy shit, we're not even talking about rape. Sexual harassment can be as much as unwanted touching, or as little as someone flirting with another person who's just not into it. How is that more "real" than genocide?
Honestly, Kevin only ever cat called Stevonnie and thats it
The worst he's ever done was doing it after knowing it's Steven and Connie in a trench coat

>But can't you see how that's worse than literal genocide!?
You don't have to meet a Hitler and know them personally to suffer them. Right now literal millions of people in the world are living under tyrannical homicidal scum who just happen to be better at PR than Hitler and pragmatic enough not to wage war on everyone.

>third appearance >looks like Kevin can't get over Stevonnie >tries to invite her (Stevonnie) to a party >Steven and Connie are having a fight, so he invites both of them separately and helps Steven make up (although ultimately his advice doesn't help directly, just gives Steven the courage to make things right) >they just ditch his party afterwards
Truly, one of the top 10 evildoers in anime history.
No, they're exactly as real. genocide and mass death happens daily; is it really different that the cartoon had people shooting magic lasers to kill up a bunch of things?
I'd argue "no" since our conventional weapons achieves the same goal.

Dude, those tyrants are very real, terrorist are very real. Ever met a Holocaust survivor? I have, and those horrors are nothing to scoff at.
I hate how shows and fandoms pretend that jerks are worse than villains because it shows an extremely shallow perspective on life. Supervillains may not be real (yet) and we haven’t encountered any alien tyrants, but there are plenty of irl examples of people causing mass suffering.
It reminds me of the recent convos over the new Stranger Things; how the jerk jock Jason was "too real" for people while Vecna is easier to enjoy because he's fantastical.
b***h Vecna is a serial killer who preys on teenagers. While he may be fantastical, what he does is just as real as being a jerk jock.

Nice trips. And honestly it’s even scarier when you consider how groups like the Manson family formed from similar types of people manipulated by a charismatic leader. Evil and mean, good and nice, the two are not synonymous.

People are still affected by genocide, though. Unless you're talking about Stranger Things, then you may have a point depending on how its depicted. I know, in Steven Universe, a ton of people could directly relate to dictators and genocide even today.

Jason wasn’t even evil, he was just an egotistical small town hero who believed in Satanic Panic hype. Really he was no worse than season one Steve, and he was way less cruel than Billy ever was. Honestly in such a crowded season his storyline never felt like it got going properly. He should’ve been kept around for the final season.
Dude, those tyrants are very real, terrorist are very real. Ever met a Holocaust survivor? I have, and those horrors are nothing to scoff at.

Gembros, what are you doing? You guys unironically think this jerk is worse than the Diamonds and all of the horrors they've caused? Its like Steven Universe fans want awesome shit to exist in their world, but they don't want to actually interact with that awesome shit, and instead they just want conventional bad people to deal with. Why even have the diamonds if you're going to jerk off yourselves over the idea of this guy being worse than them?
Why are so many new heroes like this?
Seriously say what you will about Luz, but at least she’s different in that she tried to trick and kill her genocidal villain and dealt with her bully by seducing her to the point where her mere presence causes all meanness to evaporate.
Actually quite a few of the stranger things jerks end up showing their hearts of gold by the end.
Jason was just convinced that Jesus had given him a mission to save the town from the pawns of Lucifer.
>Why are so many new heroes like this?
Its less to do with the characters ideals and more to do with the writers priorities
Think Chloe from Miraculous and the show runners hateboner for her claiming she's irredeemable as if the protagonist is any better
Steven only considers Kevin worse than his omnicidal aunties because thats what Sugar wants the audience to think regardless
Yeah, honestly it kind of suffers by having to use season 1A to establish the backstory. Like once you get to the actual story in 1B onwards you can clearly see that it’s all just setup. After that the story is actually really good and dark in a fun way. One of the more fun parts is Kiki suffering as she keeps getting punished in a way that outweighs her crimes.
And that is why competent show runners first hook the viewers and then feed them exposition. Then at least the viewer is already invested and will only groan about how boring the show became, but keep watching. The way it was done, a lot of people just flaked, me included. Which now feels bad because apparently the show picked up later on.
Don't you mean heroes being worse than the jerks they think are villains?
Steven acted like any rational person would in his situation.
Shut up cuck.

I did.
I wanted Stevonnie and him to hook up in Future.
t. Steven
Quick rundown?
He sexually harassed Stevonnie. That's worse than anything the Diamonds have done.
so he tried to touch his butt or grab his chest or is the twitter tier sexual harassment
See for yourself
This looks like normal events at a party, aside from stevonie freaking out.

I ship Molly with Steven
Steven should've fricked Kevin instead of being with c*nnie.
Steven doesn’t like gay men it’s why he doesn’t like Kevin
If that was the case they shouldn't have made him so frickable to me
Steven is a shape shifter. Kevin is already in love with Connie, so he's halfway there. Steven just needs to shapeshift into a girl and get a tan.
>Steven shapeshifts a womb just to carry Kevins baby
He wouldn't need to shapeshift since he's already a walking vegana.

Actually quite a few of the stranger things jerks end up showing their hearts of gold by the end.
Jason was just convinced that Jesus had given him a mission to save the town from the pawns of Lucifer.
A heart of gold doesn’t change the fact that they’re jerks. I’m still waiting for Steven to get brutally killed like Billy and Jason.

Well that’s easy Anon. He likes the Diamonds and doesn’t like Kevin. It’s all about who your friends are, not what they do.
Too many cartoon protagonists share now morals without it being addressed.
Why would it be? My cousin assaulted a guy for no reason and I still love spending holidays with him

That's more of a negative filter that stops people with taste.

He looks kinda cute here
Why do people think the Diamonds are genociders again? Even if they drain planets, those are just filled with unintelligent animals anyway.
Their crimes are mostly opressing their own people, which they have certainly done a lot of, and for 100s of thousands of years.
Jerks are usually the ones who stand against tyrants in the end.
Doesn’t make them less jerks
>Jerks are usually the ones who stand against tyrants in the end.
Or are tyrants themselves.
Turns out a series made by lunatics doesn't make sense.
