Was it also the first movie you've ever seen? Utter fricking trash.

No one was expecting it to be like arthouse, people were expecting it to be like Top Gun. It's a mediocre 2000s action flick with embarrassing attempts at drama that already manages to feel outdated while the first one is still as good as ever.

Thinking of taking my boomer dad and mom to see this. Do you believe it will still be out in the US over July 4th? Also, mom at her age gets confused with complex plots, is the story straight-forward enough that a 75 year old could handle it?

Envy you yanks if it is.

It's out of all the premium screens in favour of Jurassic World for me. I wanted to see it in 4DX again.

Seats that move about. Vibrate. Spray you with water. blast air. There's extra flashing lights when the funs fire in the close ups and fans for wind.

You don't have a seat belt and can still hold popcorn ok but it massively amplified this movie. It was fricking awesome.

No, just a bit of dementia. She's 75, which is why I was asking if the plot is straight forward. If not, I don't want to have a repeat of watching Dunkirk with her. She was so confused.

The plot is very straightforward and honestly you could jump in at the middle and still know clearly what's going on (at least as much as any other war movie). The exposition of the mission is repeatedly an American amount of times.

You should be more concerned about her getting a heart attack during the later parts of the movie in the theater if anything, honestly.

            Anonymous

I took my 66yo Dad to the 4DX and was legitimately concerned in the run up that he would have a heart attack. Took two of my burliest mates also just in case we had to quickly move him.

You can take that as a review of the 4DX experience all you like.

4dx is absolute cringe. RPX or IMAX would be the way to see this, and I dunno I'm going to see it in ScreenX tonight which might be cool and might also be a complete gimmick

          >4dx is absolute cringe. RPX or IMAX would be the way to see this.

Never heard of RPX but I've seen it in both 4DX and IMAX and 4DX is far superior for this movie. 4DX is made for it. The seats bank back and forth and it was so well done in the canyon chase my head was perfectly matching the actors as they were pulled back and forth. Whoever programmed that shit did it with real passion. Wouldn't bother for not aviation movies but TPM in 4DX was the best cinema experience I have ever had.

It's alright - the last act is entertaining, but everything leading up to it is more Snoozekino than Cruisekino. I think it's one of those sequels that relies so heavily on the formula of the first movie that it almost feels like a spoof at points.

I can only assume you either watched a shitty rip or haven't the slightest interest in aviation. I had a coworker say similar asked her to name a single plane and she couldn't. Probably thought they were on 747 longhaul.

It can't do VTOL when it's fully fueled and armed, but it can launch from much shorter runways without using a catapult unlike regular carrier aircraft.

Also it's saving fuel, normal VTOL can't hover for hours like that Harrier with Arnold in True Lies
