This show is insufferable

The """natural""" and """realistic""" dialogue is like nails to a chalkboard. The way they try to make the characters likeable. The glorification of shitty luxury dining. The change in focus to all the minorities instead of the main character and his cousin. The extremely embarrassing love story that takes up all the scenes with the main character. Season 2 is unwatchable.

The diversity isn't anything but I truly believe 3rd season will receive backlash along these lines. Its well executed and almost cozy but after S2 I've had enough and find it treacle corny like when every Pixar movie was making normies snotty cry. The writing doesn't hold up when you think about it later.

S1 was easily better than S2 I don’t get why everyone jerked off so much over S2. The Christmas episode was the worst episode.

          >The very thread that you are posting in is titled, "This show is insufferable"

          sell it to me.
          >The very thread that you are in is about discussing this show.

          >The first paragraph details several specific problems such as strikingly unnatural dialogue, the undue glorification of luxury dining, and bizarre focus on secondary characters over primary ones. This framing suggests that the first season did not suffer these problems to this strange peculiarity of degree.

          >Finally, when presented on screen is embroiled in a love story characterized as extremely embarrassing. Not only is the main character a non factor in what is supposedly his own show, but that very show seems to have shifted tonalities during its second season. This clearly does not bode well for the continued enjoyment of the viewer, and they state as much:

          >"Season 2 is unwatchable." If for any reason you were unable to determine how OP feels about this show or whether this show has gained or lost quality, the conclusion is a mere succinct sentence of terse, unmistakable finality.

All of your questions were either answered immediately or would have been answered in the discussion that followed. You entered a discussion thread asking if someone would discuss the topic of the thread with you. This behavior I've seen replicated in both bots on this site and non-native english speakers.

it's funny to realize that kitchen workers really see themselves as this important no matter the scale. i expect it from gourmet chefs or TV chefs but then you see "actual ground workers" talking this shit up and it's like oh wow you all actually believe this.

it's only insufferable bc it's the latest craze once youtube cheffing became a thing

Medicine saves lives so it's pretty natural its practitioners have an inflated sense of self worth.
Line cooks at some Chicago shithole don't do anything nearly as important in their entire career.

Have you ever been to a nice restaurant with family or friends? ever went to a restaurant and had an enjoyable memorable experience like a first date? or anniversary? etcetc.Work in a restaurant for one single friday night shift at any place you like. then tell me how low the stakes are. Customers want perfection when they eat out. they're all insufferable and rude brats, who have no respect for the kitchen, the establishment or the workers but still demand perfect service and food for a low price. I think chefs inflated egos are pathetic, thats true. but to say the stakes are low and its "just a restaurant" is fricking moronic. id love to see you throw a hissy fit the next time you eat out and service and food isnt perfect, you can remind yourself how none of it matters right?

It is literally just a restaurant, yes. As I said, outside of the kitchen itself the only people who care that much are people like you who have anger issues.
            >the next time you eat out and service and food isnt perfect
What do you think I'm going to do, throw a tantrum? Is that what you do lmao? If the food or service is bad at the restaurant, you leave a bad tip and don't go back. If the service is bad at a hospital, you die. If it's bad at the mechanic, your car breaks. I'm sorry you fell for this psyops, but the service industry is inherently low stakes because anyone can do it.

You must realize the irony that your life more closely reflects that of a hoodrat Black person or Hispanic while being a white supremacist? Us middle class whites view you as scum because there is at least a paternalistic, infantilizing excuse given to poor nonwhites. But you? You will never be "in the club" and you know it and you're scrounging for anything you can to feel better about your existence.
Dad was a carpenter that worked up to white collar management in construction. Mom worked customer service jobs in retail. How about yours? Petty criminals turned lifeless drug addicted husks that could barely give you attention growing up?

i dont know man. one of the episodes is literally an hour exposition of carmy and cousin, and you have the other episode which focuses on cousing fixing his internal dilemma. i didnt wanna watch the show but my girlfriend got me into it and i cant say i felt like any 'diversity' was forced. it felt natural, especially for an area like chicago. as far as the dialogue, and maybe its just me, but it does feel very natural. i also dont think the show is attempting to glorify luxury dining as its more showing the almost psychotic mentality you need to have a luxury dining place. ergo carmys breakdown in the last episode.
