Rock as Black Adam is great he just needs to put an accent on.

But Krasinski Reed is...yeah he's just meh.

The Rock's *physical appearance* would have been a great Black Adam, back when he still had hair. He no longer does and he's never been able to act, he's never once played a character who wasn't just himself.

homie frick off. Both of these are great.

It's really on the heads of the studio/writers/directors now to deliver a quality product.

I mean, the Rock has it kinda bad b/c WB doesn't understand how to make a single decent capeshit movie unless its Shazam or James Gunn happened to pop over for the lulz.

Jim from The Office Guy is a good Reed, but the franchise has had nothing but losers, and Hollywood writers are gonna be hard-pressed to fricking do some basic Lee/Waid/Hickman reading to ascertain what makes FF tick and why exactly Jim from the Office could work super well because of Reed's character. Also DOOM. They'd need to do a lot of work to understand why DOOM is DOOM.

Krasinski was just a normie pick they willed into existence through memes. He’s serviceable enough I’m sure. Let’s see what he can do with real film.

Rock was an actual fan pick but in this instance it’s just a little too late to be perfect. Fans cast Rock for Adam back when he was a fearsome looking meathead with the right hairline. Now it’s too late and we’re left with generic movie star Rock who’s essentially at his late 80’s Stallone career point where all the projects he takes on are just about fueling his ego, every character looks and acts the same and wears the same beige/green explorer army man shirt. He doesn’t even have hair anymore which would be fine except he also won’t wear the ears or change his voice or do anything that leans into the Black Adam character in a negative way. We wanted Scorpion King, instead we go Tooth Fairy.

In fairness to Jim, the script was awful and while he didn't do or say anything interesting, no one in that fricking movie did. They did seem to forget that he's smart though, which does not bode well for the MCU as a while. We can only hope that he lived in a canon dimension of morons so we can just forget that ever happened. I don't think the idea of John Krasinski playing Reed is bad in and of itself but he's down the list.

Honestly Henry Cavill could make it work. He puts on a good American accent in M:I Fallout.

      Anonymous

      >Henry Cavill
      >Better casting choice for Mr. Fantastic
This seems like a worse choice. His size alone makes him incredibly awkward for Reed unless you'll settle for Thing let alone the types of characters/personalities he's shown in his movie. Not sure what accents have to do with it, but in M:I he's just an arrogant "smart" guy who doesn't like to be showed up.
It's weird though how they've failed to do anything legit or permanent with Ian or the potential for Miles

He was? Where have you been man? This was during the time where DCEU wasn't really a thing and Marvel had "seemingly" hit jackpot with their casts. A lot of fan trailers for "The Flash", Black Adam, etc... Hell you can still find old trailers or comments under the teasers or talks on line about this. Not quite the same thing, but this scene where he says the meme-line, you can really tell it was recorded much later and inserted into the movie to get good boy points from the internet.

Like, it wasn't even a secret, they just said outright that that they were going to record and insert the line/scene after the movie was essentially already in the can, but even if they hadn't pointed it out, it would have been obvious. It doesn't fit the flow of the movie and is just there for "YOU MADE US DO THIS" berries.

Once the premiae and cast of Snakes on a Plane hit the interwebs, everyone started memeing "I HAVE HAD IT WITH THESE MOTHERFRICKING SNAKES ON THIS MOTHERFRICKING PLANE!" Imagining Samuel L Jackson screaming the line in his style of scream-acting. The meme grew the hype for the otherwise utterly forgettable snakesploitation movie. So after the movie was mostly done and in post-production, they dragged Sam back in to say the meme against a greenscreen and then inserted it into the movie in an awkward way.

Snakes on a Plane is honestly a fascinating subject of the evolving 2000’s internet. Basically its fame is due in large part to the internet buzz which made fun of its core premise, buzz the film took full advantage of to the point where they changed it from the working title of Venom to a more on the nose gag title. It could be considered a trailblazer for viral online marketing and embracing meme potential. For better or worse, it’s something of a milestone.

Why Krasinski was ever cast as Reed? He doesn't look the part

      Anonymous

With a beard, he's pretty close to Hickman Secret Wars-era Reed. Not quite old enough IMO though, unless Val and Franklin are going to be toddlers in the MCU. He was probably cast from all of the annoying c**ts shouting that he should be Reed after some fanart drew him in a F4 suit.

There was some stuff circling the rumor mill the last few days that suggested Jason Sudeikis as Reed for MCU-616 Reed and I dig that casting more instead.

        Anonymous

Krasinski looks like Hickman Secret Wars-era Reed whereas current Gruffudd looks like current Reed (to be fair he just looks the part regardless of time period).

        >Not quite old enough IMO though
Here's the thing (heh): current Gruffudd is perfect for a experienced, seasoned Reed. However, if they're going to be introducing the Fantastic Four into the MCU, they'll probably want someone slightly younger. Not too young though or you'll just end up with the Maker.

Always thought it was a dumb move. Never understood why people thought Krasinski would make a good Reed. His ears are too big but more importantly his face looks too young and babyfaced. Reed Richards casting is imo similar to casting white Nick Fury.

I did think they could make Krasinski work as Reed if they aged him down a LOT so that he could age into the character but throwing a current Krasinski onto the screen as a full fledged Illuminati Reed Richards seems like a foolish af move imo.

casting doesn't matter, the writing is the problem
they wrote Reed so badly I go as far as to say its worse than the Fan4stic version and Black Adam looks like another ''supervillain who's actually good deep down'' and The Rock cant act for shit but it will still be more entertaining and slightly more respectable to the character than anything the mouse shits out
