It was really good and the characters were compelling, I actually liked the four main characters more than the Rust and Marty.
But I can't help but feel it had more lost potential than the first season.
The California backdrop was great, but the new age spiritualist cults stuff wasn't explored nearly enough. It would have been so much more compelling to have had Bezzerides' father involved in the plot more. The ending was kind of disappointing.
If only they had more time to explore an actual plot instead of showing us two superfluous characters that don't change the story at all.
Gay motorcycle cop is the only one who's really superfluous, though McAdams probably should have been reduced to top secondary billing since she didn't need nearly as much focus early on. S2's problem is less "they didn't have enough time to cover all aspects of the complicated plot" & more "the runtime is used ineffectively and plot spins its wheels for five episodes before going anywhere" which makes it inaccessible for anyone that wasn't an autist examining every detail week to week when it first aired.
If it was about the three cops taking down Vince as some kind of Al Capone figure, it'd be fixed and kino but Ray is still on the take.
>the characters were compelling
how?
>It would have been so much more compelling to have had Bezzerides' father involved
why?
WHERES THE PITCHERS
>worst mass shooting in california history
>multiple cops from multiple agencies dead
>known corrupt cops involved in suspicious way
>zero pressure to investigate from clean cops
LAPD is extremely corrupt. Pic related is somewhat based on real life cops who very corrupt
I think the setting was 10/10, problem was the plot was all over the place and they tried to do too much. They could make seasons of tv about Vernon, California.
It was all worth it for McAdams. She really knows how to wear a pair of jeans.
>Ray got to breed that
Fuuuuck
She was on drugs though so it was actually rape. HONK HONK
He impregnated knife crazy Ani and experienced one of the best (little known) asses (and dimples of venus) in Hollywood. It was his just reward for exposing the weirdos.
>stronk wahmen who don't need no men drops the facade and shows feminity and is impregnated by the man she was saved by
>Gay cop's story is about rejecting homosexuality and having a family
This is why Goywood shunned Pizza man.
True, that's why the season is rated lower than average afgan wifebeating drama, and the current feminist puke is rated better than season 1
It's still the worst season of the show.
The quality of True Detective by seasons is literally a downward slope that becomes exponentially steeper over time.
Nope. S3 and 4 are actually worse. Stop with this shit meme.
Have you seen season 4 yet?
>t. moron
>It's still the best season of the show
ftfy
i felt it was comparable to 3, and 4 is really weak so far
>The ending was kind of disappointing
no, after a rewatch it's just perfect, no justice in ~~*their*~~ world
exactly, the Chessanis are clear israelites and their partner was a Russian israelite. That and
make S2 a fricking gem that filters anyone who's a bugman, zogbot or plain homosexual edditor.
dishonest and gay post. S2 was never about a death cult.
dishonest and gay post. It was dangling it like a carrot on a stick with its visuals and >implying implications (mysterious deaths, weird masked guy, tightly organized sex orgies)
It was not. you made that assumption. frank's role in the show dispels this. the railcorridor was there for a reason.
>It was not
>because 20-20 hindsight and the series subverting expectations for no real reason
dishonest and gay post
>S2 was never about a death cult.
>motherfricker shows up in a bird mask
>yeah, that wasn't an obnoxious red herring trying to bait the audience into thinking we were seeing the continuation of the cult action from season 1
Get madder and see if it helps, b***h.
Again, you assumed that. That was YOU. Him wearing a bird mask wasn't due to cult shit. They made this clear by the first episode it was just meaningless sex stuff Caspere was into.
>tomboy tsundere cop who browses Cinemaphile
yes please
>ooooorgy
Is there any real evidence of masked orgies? It’s Omni present in media and pol conspiracies but is there any actual evidence?
>That was YOU
>newbie wasnt here when this board was one giant TD watch party and everyone was positive it was an anthology series built around the S1 cult
>naw, its just an anthology series about...true detectives? I guess?
There's a reason this show generates more eye-rolls than adulation.
yeah, i was here, and you were probably the only one that hoped it would be the endless seasons of rust's atheism drivel with same plot.
That anon he replied to and I remember. People here are just as stupid as Redditors. The show's title was pretty open ended. It wasn't named 'Carcosa' or something. Making it an anthology was logical and full of potential which was realized but MUH RUST
>built around the S1 cult
That would've been cheap midwit tv dangling plot twists and revelations about muh secret scary cult in front of an unsophisticated audience.
The cult theme came to a perfectly fine conclusion in S1, with the fact that most members won't be found and punished reflecting the pessimistic tone of the show just right. You're probably some worldbuilding gay who just NEEDS to know what exact Lovecraftian entity some fictitious cult worships.
He's probably jerking it to the idea of Rust appearing in homie Country and all.
Try getting smarter first, you thick twat.
I rememeber ass
Season 1:
>Holy shit, there's a scary death cult that employs murderers and a borderline madman is the only guy who can stop them!
Season 2 & 3:
>Holy shit, there's a scary death cult and... uh...oh, wait, no. No there isn't one at all. But thanks for tuning in, folks! See you next season!
>borderline madman
who's borderline madman?
He's referring to Rust.
so it's the "i'm literally rust" moron, figures
>muh death cult
Fricking knuckle-dragging homohomosexual.
Season 2 is kino thats just my opinion uhm
Based.
disagree but Vince and Colin had such fricking great chemistry and moments together. I wish it was just them too though i've warmed up to the gay and woman because their storylines are anti-pozzed
it wasnt good. the ep with the house party might be the worst thing TD has ever done. also, there are so many names initially that its hard to remember who the frick they are even talking about. only good thing was vince but not enough to carry it.
Your brain s well and truly broken. And if you think the party ep is bad, try watching an epside of Nig c**t.
>there are so many names initially that its hard to remember who the frick they are
and then at the end there was no reason to remember who the frick anyone was. nothing was connected.
>knife obsessed tomboy hardboiled drunkard cop who trains knife routines daily on her little wooden practice dummy
>goes undercover at sex party, gets caught by security
>has to execute her practiced kill move knife routine perfectly
>does so and the 6'4 280 pound bouncer/security literally lifting her off her (bare) feet to strangle her against a wall only just barely bleeds out in time to keep her from getting murdered
>she crumples gagging and gasping for air, big time reality check for tough girl
that shit was based
>get to see McAdams stab someone to death and walk around in tight jeans all the time
>also get to see her eyes roll back in her head getting choked out while her cute sexy feet and toes scramble and wriggle in desperation for her life
thank you pizzolato
>ywn waifu Ani
It's OVER.
nope, they explain it in the first episode. it's just his weird stuff. they make it clear it was about the rail corridor. the twist was only with the two kids and the Russians.
I want to frick a tomboy cop barebones
I watched it last month. It was the first time I came to a celeb instead of hardcore porn since I was maybe 18
It was great, I quite enjoyed it on a rewatch recently. It was a mistake to have it be the S2 of TD. It should have been its own thing.
Desert walk was kino culmination for Vince's character
If someone watches that scene and doesn't come away with the conclusion S2 is pure fricking kino then there's no hope for them.
Kelly Reilly is fricking gorgeous.
Gay cop subplot was pointless and lead nowhere. Rest was good Chandler-core
all the plots were pointless and went nowhere
Nah, Vince and Colin were kino.
>all the plots were pointless and went nowhere
You literally just described real life.
Tried watching it and couldn't make it through the first episnode. Didn't have that problem with Season 1. Anyway, if it does get good, when is that?
Never. Stick to Black person Country, it has birth and addresses all important social issues
Is it worse than season 3?
I liked season 3
does the third season really have time travel or was I memed by Cinemaphile?
You were memed.
it's ambiguous - the point of view during the "time travel" is a demented old man
I didn’t like it when it aired but thought Collin Ferrell and Vince Vaughn’s characters were good. I’ve heard it’s not bad though and might give it a rewatch. Expectations were just way too high and gay motorcycle cop felt like he was specifically in the story for “be who you are, man.”
>watered down james ellroy
no thanks
