My 6th grade math teacher used to show us clips from colbert. It made me feel like an adult. That was the closest colbert has ever been to kino in my book
That's cool. How's 7th grade going so far?
He’s just a relic of the Bush era. Same with Bill Maher
>He’s just a relic of the Bush era. Same with Bill Maher
Yes, the problem with people like them and Stewart is that they were funny when they were speaking truth to power, to warmongering neocons.
But then Trump decayed their brain functions and now they spend their time convincing their audiences they are still the underdogs fighting against "the powers that be" when they are completely in control of all institutions and the shitty state of things is their own doing.
It rings hollow because it is.
Donnie wasn't the problem, Obama was. They weren't allowed to be funny the entire time he was in office and it shows.
Exactly. Stewart especially was relentless at poking fun of Clinton, and Bush jokes basically wrote themselves. Colbert and Stewart would mock any politician early in their careers. After Obama (protected class) was elected, they went full on political shilling, not realizing there was already a sea of those types to drown in... and they did. Both were irrelevant by the time Trump was elected. Stewart doesn't have a career and Colbert wouldn't either if not for falling into a late night gig somehow, which is why he'll say whatever his superiors tell him to say.
he had some funny moments when he was playing a comedic character instead of just being one
His Christmas special was and in great, watch it if you can find it.
Unironically funny and comfy kino. Genuinely nice singing voice. Too bad Trump broke him.
Why does he look like Rockwell with that great big pipe of his
He has that 1950s dad phenotype. Like Bob Dobbs
The Colbert Report had its moments at the time, but if I tried to rewatch it I'm sure I'd see how it laid the groundwork for everything happening now.
>let's go breathe some air
Do leftoids really need the permission of their government and subscription shot plan from a massive for profit corporation to breathe air?
he's at his funniest playing closeted gay men, be it in Strangers with Candy or the Ambiguously Gay Duo. It's ironic that current Colbert would disown both for being "problematic" and should go eat a dick for real.
He had a song on Colbert report where he sang "BABY CARROTS ARE TRYING TO TURN ME GAY "
When he'd discuss DnD or LotR; basically something he was genuinely passionate about.
05-12 Colbert was unironically a social liberal who found the perfect formula to both criticize and incorporate the conservative viewpoint into the mainstream.
You will never see him doing shit like this now because he's too much of a glowie now. He's too entrenched in the system
The only Kino thing this hack ever did was Harvey BirdMan Attorney at law.
and colbert report and strangers with candy and daily show and and and
JUST GET THE FRICKING VACCINE G*D YOU FRICKING CHUDS ARE PATHETIC. SCARED OF A LIL PRICK? HUH? HUH CHUDS?
I did get fully vaxed, butthole. It became a job requirement.
And I still got Covid.
Dumbass.
Because you didn't get the 3 extra jabs.
I cant take the vaccine since im a bot
>Was Colbert ever kino?
Once upon a time
He co-wrote and starred in Strangers with Candy, one of the greatest comedy shows ever.
>What was the closest he ever came to being kino?
The episode where he talked shit about Quetzalcoatl
Was that the interview with that permafried author who was talking about a prophecy of a new age or some mystic horseshit? I remember being 14 and very easily impressed by generic stoner fake deep stuff, and I still saw through that guy's schtick.
I seriously hope you guys didn't actually fall for the vaccine meme.
The Colbert Report was really funny
My dad was a republican but i remember he liked the show for being clever satire
>Was Colbert ever kino?
There was a brief phase where the writers allowed his conservative persona to be something other than a complete punching bag.
I enjoyed The Colbert Report.
Unfortunately, now that we know that wasn't a character and is just the real guy. It ain't entertaining.
Some episodes of the Colbert Show were genuenly funny but I was younger and probably wouldnt even think theyre that funny now. I know for a face as soon as he became a late night host he would suck because he was abandoning his character. I was right, havent been able to watch more than 5 minutes straight of this snoozefest. Also when he does interviews on other shows he comes off as a brainless dupe.
He didn't abandon the character, he just revealed his was the character but with slightly different political leanings.
His send up of Bill OReilly was spot on. It was kind of a one joke thing he made work for a long time. As soon as he stopped satirising the OReilly Report and was himself instead of a character, he became the exact same sort of obnoxious mouthpiece as Bill OReilly, just for the other side. Ironic, really.
true.
Colbert Report was kino. Now he's just a neolib bootlicker and it's nauseating.
His roast of Dubya right to his face at the White House Correspondents Dinner was fricking gold:
When he had Bill O Reilly on and trolled him as himself that was actually funny “I’m whoever you want me to be Bill”
when some asian woman complained about his ching chong character, so he had her come on the show and he just did ching chong to her face.
sociopath
