watching the remake, i dont get

why the 'resitance" just doesn't show the Visitors are reptiles in fake human skin? Like it seems the whole world would be sus of the V if they did that. They have let dead V bodies go ignored AND they have a live fricking V collaborator

Did the original have such a stupid plot hole?

They were overwhelmed by what the Visitors were offering. Including vaccines. So they willingly took a step back.

In the original series they expose John the head alien guy on international tv, that doesn't happen in this one? If I recall it was successful and woke a lot of people up but the prooaganda lady convinces a lot of people that it was "movie magic" but shortly after this the group stops trying to "expose" the aliens cause at this point it's either you realize their reptiles there to harvest earth or you are delusional/collaborator.
Is any of the "real tv show" they made after the miniseries worth watching? The first episode wasn't horrible

The TV series is terrible, although some of it is so bad it's funny. It had the same producers as The Love Boat.

they should have made the supposedly good ones just spies on another level that were just there as an extra security measure to lure out the possibly treacherous Reptilians, that would want to go against the Plan but not out of benevolence (some negligible numbers might), as to make the show more complex.

Sorry there was novelization and they added ending

Set 20 years after the original miniseries, The Second Generation depicts an Earth still under Visitor domination with the Resistance fighting a losing battle. They desperately try to persuade the masses that the Visitors are evil aliens bent on mankind's destruction. However, they are largely ignored as the many technological and social advancements brought by the Visitors to the planet have convinced the majority that the aliens have their best interests in mind. They are halfway to taking all of the planet's water under the guise of cleansing it of all polluting substances. Many people were also convinced to join the Visitors' civilian militia, the Teammates (an evolution of the miniseries' Visitor Youth), to hunt resistance members.

When all seems hopeless, the message that Resistance leader Juliet Parrish sent into space at the end of the original miniseries is finally heard. An alien race called the Zedti, who are long-standing enemies of the Visitors reinforces the Resistance in their time of need and soon the war is turned in their favor. However, all is not as it seems, as the Zedti's actions make the Resistance wonder about their newfound allies' actual motives.

The problem with V as a TV show was that it as only sci-fi because the studio wanted a Star Trek competitor. The original concept was about, in a nutshell, Nazis being elected to government. And you see traces of that idea in the show, with the Visitors being allegorical versions of Nazis.

But the problem with this allegory is that if they are a different species, then they can't help being that species. The Visitors are bad because they are lying and they kill people and they're trying to steal our natural resources. Them being reptiles underneath isn't actual reason to attack them... right? Okay, so reptiles are not capable of empathy in the same way mammals are. But it doesn't really matter. The metaphor doesn't quite track.

And obviously for the show to work, it has to severely underestimate humanity's propensity for fricking aliens.

The miniseries was generally kino, but the TV series after was laughably bad. They even killed off a popular character, realized their mistake and brought the same actor to play the character's identical twin brother.

If I'm not mistaken, V was the first show to have Sand Sharks (like in Tremors and Sand Sharks).
It was some creature from their homeworld that they used as a James Bond style piranha tank gotcha-monster.
You only ever saw the hump of it's back like the swamp creature in Empire Strikes Back.
Then some side character would get sucked down into the sand after a bit of teasing.

That honor probably goes to the original The Outer Limits: The Invisible Enemy. There's also an older movie with a similar premise, Blood Beach.

do other reptilian media exist other than enemy mine the film?

Like UFO reptilians? People Of Earth.

    >why the 'resitance" just doesn't show the Visitors are reptiles in fake human skin
it would have to be done simultaneously across the planet, and framed properly, lest the result was just making people not believe it and making any future revelations unable to have any liberating effect.

doing that would be from impossible to unimaginably difficult.

from what i remember of the remake, the V monsters pretty much never took off their skin.
I only remember one part where the queen takes off her skin to lay like a hundred eggs, and while it doesnt show her fully i think it was implied that she was like... a lot bigger underneath the skin.
its possible that their human forms was an actual physical transformation that they didnt necessarily control. wont ever know because it got canceled as soon as it was getting interesting.

It saved them a ton on CGI. The laying eggs thing was like a quick clip for the season finale.

I only saw a few episodes before I lost interest completely but they showed either her or the daughter fully unskinned and they're like a scrawny upright velociraptor with a short face and a long tail. About the size of a normal human.

It really wasn't. Take off the rose-tinted glasses.

NTA but it really was. I avoided it for the longest time because it just looked like another The Invaders ripoff. Then I caught an episode and got hooked like I did with Buffy The Vampire Slayer. The FX are awful but the show's like a huge lorefest relative to the original movie.

this reminds me of a list of supposedly "legit" documents about the history of aliens on earth.
there were stories about some pact of the great 7 races and how they protected humans but one of them fought a war with humanity 5k+ years ago they lost a battle versus a bunch of people who threw rocks at them after they nuked some valley nearby.
basically the plot of SG1 but in all seriousness
