hideous
Does even look like an S anymore
Its not an S lorelet.
nobody cares about capeshit "lore"
>nobody cares about capeshit "lore"
An opinion that exists only in modern era, spawned by those who want to make apologies for bad media who shits of iconic characters.
If you don't care, stay away from existing things
That capeshit lore came decades after, by a writer that didn't create the character. It is a retcon, for a remake of the character, even.
It was an S for the longest time, meant Superman. Then they retconned it for the first time in Reeve's Superman as the kryptonian writing for Hope. But until then, since the '30s, it meant Superman.
Did people in the 30s really believe that aliens would be using the same alphabet as us?
1930s Superman only fought against local crime bosses. Lower mob business. They weren't aiming for the stars yet.
I'll admit my memory isn't exhaustive, but to my knowledge it was mainly mad scientists and gorillas. A very far cry from "only mobsters".
He’s thinking about the 50s show where someone would always throw a gun at Superman and Superman would always duck
It wasn’t an alien language thing until Marlon Brando demanded they put it in his costume. They rolled with the idea that all the kryptonians had a family symbol
Black person, every comic book up until the 80s was a cringe factory of dumb shit and moronic ideas
It didn't start being an alien letter until 80's.
frick off i'm not talking to you and i dont care about your nerd shit. you snyder Black folk are annoying as frick with your Le Based knowledge of 1935 comic issue 21 bullshit
Concession accepted.
Before the Christopher Reeve movie, it wasn’t a kryptonian symbol. Jor-El wore a costume with a yellow sun on it. The suit was designed and created by Ma Kent.
Actually, even after the Reeve movie, this design for Jor-El and the symbol origin was kept in the comics until the 1985 Man of Steel miniseries. In that, the symbol was a Native American symbol, taken from a local tribe. Comics wouldn’t canonize the kryptonians origin of the symbol until the 2000s, with the comic Birthright.
I always liked that look for Jor-El because it shows that he was already studying the sun and how it could give Superman powers.
Comics always had shit ideas and writing. There's a reason why a mid like Alan Moore get's so much praise: He writes brass for a medium that consistently produces shit.
Do zoomers really believe retcon doesn't exist?
You do know that the S being the crest for the house of El was Marlon Brando's idea, right? It wasn't a thing before then, "lorelet".
KYS Cinemaphile gayg
His name is Super Man. It needs an S. No one cares if it means Black person in Kryptonian or whatever
>caring about stories for children
you are in a Superman tread about a Superman movie, homosexual
Don't be a fricking moron, it's an S to us humans but Hope for kryptonians. Both are correct.
looks like one of those with the shape of a diamond
Next Superman logo.
IF THERE'S SOMETHING STRANGE
IN METROPOLOS
WHO YA GONNA CALL?
instead of putting his spin on it, he just lifts alex ross' design. Gunn is a homosexual hack with 0 creativity
That design sucks shit either way.
Why? Some gay trademark legal bullshit issue or something? This stupid S has been a sore thumb for decades with every iteration of Superman.
>Some gay trademark legal bullshit issue or something?
No. They just want to make it look cool for the mainstream audience.
this is definitely something you have to look at twice to get what they were going for. it's not that bad
>it's not that bad
yes it is, moron
>t. only looked at it once
no, it’s worse
i love the idea here but i hate how the top left has more red than the bottom right. its a letter, make it more symmetrical
Bottom corner needs to a red triangle to close the S
IT MEANS HOPE
It's shit
Good thing they didn't go with the Krptonian symbol for peace then.
>let's ruin Kingdom Come this time
The "S" here work because in the comic this version of Superman had pretty much abandoned his humanity after the death of Lois Lane. So this "S" looking very weird and alien-like made sense.
The black colors also showed that this was an older and darker Superman, which combined with the new weird looking "S" gave an odd feeling.
This "S" for a young Superman is just a weird choice, unless the new take is all about this Superman feeling more connected to his alien origin, which i doubt is Gunn's take.
It gives you some grim vibes, it's all angles, no emotion or warmt comes from that look. Also the black is because he's still mourning Louis. Like you said, weird choice, specially with so many redesigns out there that don't look like ass. IIRC picrel is from the aborted JJ movie.
That's a good one. It's different, it's new, and it looks modern without losing the iconography.
I much prefer this one. Based on the Superman Red/Blue 90s logo
So fricking good
Kingdom Come is so great I'm surprised they haven't adapted it yet.
>I'm surprised they haven't adapted it yet.
too christian
Why pass on a golden opportunity to mock and lampoon the cast and crew of the Snyder era
Show me Wonder Woman
how could they even adapt kino like this with no buildup?
Same thing they tried with BvS. HAMFISTING!
Just do it these characters are famous enough to ditch presentations, or used to be at least
BVS has way bigger problems than not presenting it's characters. In fact, he's the main reason companies are afraid of not doing origin movies, because they can't understand why the public didn't like it so they jump to "we need to show the origin everyone already knows". I believe it is possible to make a straight Justice League movie without individual movies, just give it to anyone but Snyder.
BvS was great.
>BvS was a pure unfiltered kinographic masterpiece
ftfy
sure, Snydersister
BvS has zero issues.
Based.
The construction of the Snyderverse was a masterpiece.
>Solo Superman movie
>Batman mostly movie v Superman with WW cameo
>WW movie
>Aquaman movie
>Justice League movie that is mostly about Cyborg
Other than Flash everyone is pretty well developed by the JL movie and a huge worldbuilding was created already. Compare it to Avengers where 3 out of 6 Avengers are pretty much blank states without movies and without any development at all (No, Ruffalo Hulk has nothing to do with Norton's despise supposed to be the same character). The only worldbuilding was a Thanos cameo.
>The construction of the Snyderverse was a masterpiece.
truly a masterclass in world building
That affleck pic has better photography and lighting than literally 99% of Marvel's. I dont think you are making the point you want to make.
Reminder that Zack Snyder originally wanted BvS to be a two-parter. The first movie was going to introduce this new old and weary Batman and the second would be what BvS ended up being.
Warner Bros told him no.
Then Zack Snyder asked for them to first make individual movies for the Justice League characters, and even went as far as funding part of Wonder Woman budget with his own money.
Warner Bros told him no, and only made Wonder Woman first.
This is why it took so long for BvS to release after MoS.
MoS was released in 2013, BvS in 2016.
We were robbed by the state of Israel
What pisses me off more is that there was a plan to do a MoS prequel starring Russell Crowe that would take place in Krypton, and it would be pure sci-fi kino.
Christopher Nolan, David S. Goyer, and Crowe were hyped about it.
But the WB execs were against it and so the project later ended up being a low-budget Syfy show, and Goyer couldn't even reference MoS anymore. Even then got fricked in the ass by Geoff Johns during its second season.
ThereSnydershit and every single one of its non-character will never not be a mistake.
The Avengers was the worst thing that could happen to those DC movies.
Alex Ross was 25 when he painted this book.
Yeah and he's a leftoid who worshipped Obama. Your point?
Yeah that sounds right. It's a myth that you can turn your life around after your early 20s. If you don't have purpose and drive at your peak then you never will.
Woman detected
I gotta be honest
I recognize that the art for Kingdom Come is objectively good but I really don't like it for a super hero comic.
Why not?
the Ross suit was a callback to the 40s Fleischer cartoons. The simplified S was symbolic of Superman returning to his anti-authoritarian roots.
>The simplified S was symbolic of Superman returning to his anti-authoritarian roots.
The dude creates fricking unlawful Gulags in the story.
It's shit
Everything about Legacy is shit.
The minimalist graphic design fad ended like 15 years ago
Looks good
moron
it still looks like an S and it looks original as well, i didnt know there was a divide amongst fans about petty stuff like this
When they redesigned the symbol for Superman Returns, Alex Ross said something about it that went like this "we spent 70 years refining the symbol until became the most reconizable logo in the world, and they just throw all of that away for a ugly redesign"
Sennheiser?
Looks like shit.
S for Sneed
The S stands for Snyder.
They should use the one Quitely designed for All Star Superman that DC canned because muh movie synergy.
Opps, forgot the link.
https://www.cbr.com/all-star-superman-s-frank-quitely-grant-morrison/
That S just looks ugly, glad they changed.
I don't mind the Kingdom Come one is sleek and distinct.
seems very innocent. mostly likely would fit with Gunns immature approach
>Chaos Emeralds strictly prohibited
If it’s any indication of the new direction GUN is taking, you know it’s some modern sleek and corporate like a gas station brand logo
fuak
>Nice backslash
>uperman
>%_%uperman
I'd just like to say Alex Ross is the fricking man and all his designs are g.o.a.t
I remember reading an interview where he seemed salty they didn't use his character designs for the first film. I guess they let him to the intro for Spider-man 2 as a consolation.
It's a nice design but it makes sense why they went with something closer to the original suit.
He could've used this in SM 2 or 3.
I'd be mad too.
Should've used it for amazing spiderman instead of this dog shit
also that poster sucks
why is he standing all edgy like that?
holding in fart
It came out during a time when stuff like The Dark Knight was the ultimate superhero slop and every superhero movie had to be kinda edgy and dark, Raimi movies were seen as corny and campy, of course none of it worked because the target audience still loved those Raimi movies, legitimately unlike now where they love them as a joke as in "LOL dis crazy!" and "le back to formula"
>they love them as a joke
They're better than the mcu capeshit that no one wants to watch.
Alex Ross is as petty and bitter as he is talented. He's also a raging lefty.
>He's also a raging lefty.
Yet it doesn't effect his work and refuses to race swap characters
I have far more respect for him than most rightoid artists
I used to love this design but seeing in 3D changed my opinion. No wonder they used in the comic as a villain, Spider-shot I think.
If Spiderman ever used guns, he'd be unstoppable. He'd have perfect aim.
Wrong figure Black person
Both are based on Ross' design.
if you flip the colors on the top half you get miles' suit too
By all means, if you look at the concept art they clearly were inspired by Ross. Don't know why Marvel had to ruin his suit with a new hoodie look, he was the only recent character with a great design.
His new suits. The one on the left looks like something a girl would wear at the gym.
the pink suit really doesn't help dispel the "miles is gay" theory
>hoodie
>jacket
seems impractical as frick
Stealman!!
Is that Peter Darker aka Brown Recluse?
Black personman
These Spider-Man designs are trash. The eyes look stupid.
Your eyes are stupid
It looks like a shitty sentai reject. Thank God they went with the red white & blue colours. Expertly timed for 9/11 happening, and patriotism being on the rise in the 2000s. Spidey became America's hero for 10 more years with that quick decision.
yeah, something like this in live action would've been pretty cool to see
not enough old buff white guys to cast
hmm clown ass ^~^
Who is the skeleton in the armor?
>paint an overweight man in a party city costume
>repeat for entire career
wow, such a talented artist
Let's see your art
impressive, very nice
Why is DC so inept in every single decision and everything they do?
Bad logo. Really fricking bad
I've seen worse.
Kino.
Once again that works because this Superman got mind-controlled for decades behaving as a hero while preparing the world to be taken for other aliens. Lois Lane died of cancer and he couldn't even realize. So when he finally was free everything hit him. He lost decades of his life, the love of his life, and basically changed as a man.
So the new uniform is him feeling that Superman as a hero died and that he is also mourning Lois Lane.
Gay as frick. You should apologize
Let's go even worse. Super Pepsi-man is my least favorite.
Grant Morrison was always coming up with the most bizarre logos for Superman. Never a good one.
But at least the S is legible, and it can also be seen as a yin/yang.
also a lightning bolt/corona.
this is gonna bomb hard screen cap this
Capeshit era is jover
shieeet
>On my planet, you only get to wear this symbol if you beat over 100 women
BEHOLD
if you dare
>What is that, a lake?
>On my world it means hope
if test audiences don't like the new logo, they can replace it with the old logo using CGI in post. All is not lost.
What is this seemingly pathological need to reinvent the S shield? Just use pic related and be done with it.
Its his people's symbol for Hope
I don't get it. It looks like basically like the same design they've been using since the 70s.
holy cringe batman
the s logo always looked silly and moronic
>silly and moronic
that's you
just tried my hand at redesigning the logo and I think I did a better job than the one in OP, what do you guys think?
You should put cum stains, LGBT is incomplete without sex.
How comes this ma'am is not already working for DC? They should make them president!
>The S stands for fabulous.
Throw in a theme similar to the Arabic BTAS theme and you've got kino.
Too complex.
Must I do everything for you?
I want to sexo evil Wonder Woman
You mean Ugly Wonder Woman
Superwoman from crisis on two Earths was hotter
Where is black Superman they promised?
dasryte, shiiieeeet
uh, where's the S?
