Little sister with your toys syndrome
Apt.
>why are men obsessed with a movie that has no women
Is this the part where you say white men love boats and digging holes and how it implies their racial superiority and how you can't explain why because non white or females will never understand?
Yes.
Yes.
I mean all those things are true especially the racial superiority so yes
>*slaps foremast*
>*krrkrshk-ssscchhhhawww*
>*sips grog*
yup...they sure don't make 'em like they used-tah
There are plenty of boat movies but this one happened to be directed by Peter Weir
>lazy writer steals memes
Manly pursuits are verboten. We must live vicariously.
ever watch white lotus? f murray abraham says shit like this the entire season 2, and i'm pretty sure they're trying to paint him as a boorish relic, but to me, he was the only character with any balls
Thank you for watching. There is hope for this world.
>Manly pursuits are verboten
>verboten
>verboaten
boats
What's stopping you from signing up for a job on a boat? Is it that you're just prevented from manly pursuits by being a lazy gay?
I don't have the necessary degree/training/experience/certification for any decent boat jobs, and I'm better off working at a local fast food chain than trying to do some bottom level filipino sailor shit.
It's a story about friends, courage, loyalty and BTFOing the fr*nch. What more does a man need
boats
>30-something y/o white guy
>never saw Master and Commander
Is it actually worth watching? I always assumed it was just a meme, like the /misc/ equivalent of Aeroplane over the Sea
You probably shouldn't watch it because it'll be the greatest thing you ever watch and then it'll be over. No sequels or anything. You can always watch other movies with Russell Crowe, I suppose.
It's sad that you haven't seen a movie about your own people. The brainwashing is working well.
>You can always watch other movies with Russell Crowe, I suppose.
I saw Gladiator and 3:10 to Yuma and he was great in those
He's great in everything because he's a good actor. You could watch anything on this list and enjoy it, even if it's like a Drama.

Controversial opinion, but The Life Aquatic is also a great boat movie
The Life Aquatic is good but it's also a Comedy so I'll never say it's better than Master and Commander. This is what I'd tell people to watch if they wanted more boat kino.
Ridley Scott's White Squall is good too.
Lived that. Can we get a definitive boat kino list?
Das Boot surely would be on there, too.
>No sequels or anything.
Age and experience have taught me that is is a blessing.
>no sequels or anything.
dawg there are like 20 books and they are all just as awesome as the movie.
Adding to this, Patrick Tull's narrations are awesome, for those who don't what to read them for themselves.
>No sequels or anything
Except for the whole Aubrey-Maturin book series which it took a tiny part of.
Its good and worth watching
>Is it actually worth watching?
As far as I can recall there aren't any blacks or women in it. That alone is more than enough.
Watch Gladiator first, if you like Russel Crowe in that you'll like Master and Commander.
But just be aware it's way overrated here. The movie has a grand total of like 4 good scenes and the rest is shlock.
Shit tier opinion. Master and Commander is a masterpiece of cinema.
watch it then watch the terror, then watch the north water.
with the holy trilogy of boat kino complete, go ahead and buy the books each one was based off of. buy a cruise ticket or rent a boat and spent the next few months reading more boat kino and living the life of a seaman.
one you are done either an hero because your life has peaked or go for broke by stranding yourself on a deserted island to really get into the spirit of things.
It’s an excellent film. Anyone who says otherwise is nonwhite.
It's a good film
That's all it is
It's all you need
also don't forget to watch horatio hornblower.
more like
>why do so many men post memes about master and commander being for guys only?
reason: its funny
I've been reading (listening to) the books and they are terrific. I heartily recommend them to my /misc/ bros.
>Capt. Aubrey becomes Mr. Aubrey
>Still has the Surprise
>Many much shenanigans
It only get better and better.
You wouldn't understand.
If you're ever in San Diego, you can visit the actual ship used in the movie. Worth it.
If you like the movie there is good news. There are more books in the series that you can stand to read.
What are they implying? This has been a sleeper hit among home theater guys for years because the audio mix is unbelievable. When you add in the historical detail they put in it's like a custom built film for autismos
>Master and Commander 1: Far Side of the World
>Master and Commander 2: ________
well?
The Sea of Trans Rights
The Far Side of the World is just the name of one of the books:
So they should just pick another one. They all sound pretty good. If there was going to be another one then they should just adapt the last book because my only problem with Master and Commander was the ending; It wasn't satisfying and it left you wanting more.
that's the definition of a good ending
I don't think so. I think Master and Commander needed to be like 3 hours and then it would have felt more epic.
I doubt anyone here has watched pic related but it's long to the point where it feels like you've watched someone's entire life and I wish Master and Commander were like that. M&C is like watching one moment in a great man's life and not his whole life.
Lord of the Rings? Three movies. Nolan Batman? Three movies. Master and Commander has one. It wasn't enough.
starring Dave Chapelle as Jack Aubrey
Charlie Hunnam as Aubrey
Josh Peck as Stephen
That's just The Lost City of Z.
>Master and Commander 2: _________
Master and Commander 2: The Ionian Mission. For Babington's boat of Lesbians alone
I just remember the movie being really dark and hard to make out what is happening on screen
It's also a great example of how a conservative and a liberal can be good friends, we could all learn something here.
This is the only social website I visit, so I can't tell, please tell me is this /misc/ memes getting mainstream or has /misc/ always been a reflection of irl tendencies? I also saw Bladerunner 2048, Drive and American Psycho being bundled as "sigma" core
The meme is older than Cinemaphile but this is where our memes gather. It's not a /misc/ meme but it wouldn't be as big without /misc/.
from what I've seen throughout the years memes happen in Cinemaphile first (maybe they get here from somewhere else idk), then some youtube/tiktok/instagram makes them mainstream
>has /misc/ always been a reflection of irl tendencies?
No. The problem with Cinemaphile is it became more normal because every generation has spent more time on the internet compared to the last so being an online weirdo is now normal. That's why you'll see Cinemaphile opinions in real life now.
Yeah, exactly. People have their personality formed on Cinemaphile they parrot the opinions somewhere else. It could be Youtube, Reddit, Twitter, whatever, but the idea originated on Cinemaphile.
then they parrot*
oldfag here, 4ch*n has always been a prime exporter of Internet culture even since the early days. The other big meme exporter used to be the Something Awful forums. Although keep in mind we didn't call them memes back then, that name didn't come around for a while, they were just demotivational posters. Also "trolling" wasn't just a word used to disagree with someone or to label someone acting retarded, it used to be a whole planned out ruse that you baited someone into
Sometimes people here recycle memes from other places though
newfags breaking containment has been happening for decades now
Boat movies? The ickiest of the ick!
Look what they ~~*took*~~ from you.
That looks like Kevin Feige so I think this is a joke image.
I mean, Disney owns Fox so it's probably not that far off from reality...
Whilst I must now consult my doctor due to an erection lasting longer than four hours, there is not way this could have ever happened. Be content with O'Brien's books.
I'm glad this never happened. Anything churned out this quickly inevitably becomes shit
/misc/ has made 10 billion Master and Commander threads but I've never once seen this movie recommended
/misc/ shills 1917 over gallipoli for some odd reason, when the latter is an infinitely better wwi movie.
it's odd, there are plenty of weir fans on this board, i've seen it mentioned a handful of times
this movie is good and all, but i prefer hornblower. ioan is so handsome and cute <3
I have a list of about 5 more boatkino series of books if any anons want it. The OBrien books are just scratching the surface of the genre.
it's the lesser of two weevils
/misc/ boat when
nine years ago
the movie has its highs for sure but it's a very boring movie
get out
Go away roastie
Watch In the Heart of the Sea
