I mean Pinochio IS a child. A child would totally do that, because they don't mind being embarrasing.

Sure, but the whole point of that was Pinocchio trying to offend and humiliate.
Being a kid, poop was all he could think of.

Wtf is with Pinocchio and shit? Even the Disney one had a poop scene (no I do not have the screencap, nor will I waste time looking for it)

I like what I imagined this film would be like based on the original image shown of the Gepetto and Pinocchio models when it was stuck in production hell a lot more than what it turned out like.

I'll be happy to shit on all of illumination, modern pixar and most of dreamworks and disney, but what was wrong with How to Train Your Dragon?
That was a genuine departure from the shit Dreamworks was making at the time and a breathe of fresh air compared to Shrek and kung fu Panda

      >That was a genuine departure from the shit Dreamworks was making at the time and a breathe of fresh air compared to Shrek and Kung Fu Panda
Guillermo was actually executive producer for two of the Kung Fu panda movies. And also Puss in Boots. The first one, not the new one that people actually liked

I really question that considering the new one bombed while the first one actually made a profit.

        >b-b-but muh internet grifters kept creaming themselves over how good it was!

And how much of that do you think reflects the casual audience?

      >The acting has been dictated by a pantomime style that has been handed over and over through the decades, and it’s this super hip, super cute, suburban style, you know, or these super cool kids from the Valley that are sassy, and skateboard, and have one-liners—who the frick is that? Number one. And number two, that has been codified almost to [emoji]: you see the same faces, and the same poses in all the goddamn animated movies
That's from an interview or something back in december. It's true, modern animation is super symbol-based. It's often methods rather than actual expression. He gets a bit soundbitey about it, but I fully agree.

I wish there was a middle ground in animation between soulless children's cartoons and pretentious artsy-fartsy shit.
There are so few animations just telling mature (or at least not purposefully safe) stories in America.

i never got this "muh pure art" discourse from Del Gordo, he has some great movies but most of his projects are schlock for the average coomsomer he's not Herzog or jodorowsky to be such a prick on other creators that are only trying to survive on the market

Del Toro is a hack. He took a story set in the 19th century and forced Mussolini into it for no other reason than he can get some cheap applause that way.
