>I've heard rave reviews of The Autopsy of Jane Doe but not watched it yet..
It's very good. I highly recommend it, especially if you watch it knowing nothing about it.
The Exorcist. It's a lame answer but it's the truth. It's a wonderful character driven drama with religious themes punctuated with moments of amazing practical effects. So many horror films put the horror elements first and the characters are afterthoughts. The Exorcist is the opposite.
The best part of the exorcist for me was the intro in Iraq. Barely a line of dialogue, but so much going on.
For example, the metal forgers clanging the hammers are a forshadowing of the radiation machine banging when used on Reagan later. Many such other examples. It's also not in the book beyond a few sentences, so we know the book really doesn't explain the things going on in the film
Favorite / Best horror films in general! > John Carpenter's The Thing > Jaws > Alien
gap > Hellbound - Hellrasier 2 > The Shining
Favorite slasher films! >> Halloween 2 = Halloween 4 >> Cold Prey = Cold Prey 2
Jason Lives used to be here but not anymore... > Nightmare on Elm Street 3 - Dream Warriors > Nightmare on Elm Street > The Final Terror > My Bloody Valentine
Favorite Killer Animal Films! > Jaws
gap! > Rogue > Crawl > Primeval > Prophecy
gap! > The Deadly Mantis > The Black Scorpion > Komodo
Favorite Ghost / Supernatural Films! > The Shining > The Grudge (American) > The Conjuring 2 > Poltergeist (1982) > The Grudge 2 (American) >>> Ringu = Ringu 2 = Ringu 0 Birthday > The Nun > The Conjuring 3 > The Conjuring
Favorite Zombie Films! >> Night of the Living Dead (1990) = Zombie (1979) > Dawn of the Dead (70s)
It feels generic to say, but I still gotta go with The Exorcist. The characters feel organic and the build up is believable for a film dealing with some wild shit
Are any of you scarred by horror movies? In ever was no matter the movie - actually I laugh a lot.
Only thing that scares me is when demons hunt me at night and when they attack they tend to put this existential terror in your soul, as if they're going to devour you to oblivion.. but it's just larping on their side, they can't do that and God won't allow - still, that shit is scary in the real sense.
In recent years, The Lighthouse, although that's debatable a horror film.
All time I'd probably go for The Thing, even though its a teevee meme
Juno, a beautiful mind, spiderman 2 (andrew garfinkel one)
Halloween
Candyman (1992)
The Thing
Alien/Aliens

Are we calling Jaws a "horror" movie? Pretty tame really, more of an adventure movie I'd say.
for me, it's the house that jack built
Alien and The Thing
Basically spiritual evil, demons but with a physicalist grab.
Sinister had been scientifically proven to be the scariest movie of all time

Oh my Science!
By the Science... that must be Scientifically true.
Peer reviewed!
But Sinister sucks
