Shut up, Donkey.
Good grief. How does one get mogged this badly?
Nobody wants to take their kids to watch movies with periods, midlife crisis, and homosexual erotic subtext.
There's a clear and appreciated delineation between the adult jokes targeted at adults in shrek, and the messaging targeted at kids in the disney films.
>nobody wants to take their kids to watch movies with... midlife crisis
lol lmao
That wasn't a midlife crisis. His midlife crisis was going to the island and getting a lil' side action.
Doesn't Shrek two feature a crossdressing wolf and a Pinocchio who wears woman's underwear?
And they're treated as jokes.
It's sort of the difference between portraying murder by having the villain do it and it being seen as bad, and the protagonist doing it and the movie treating it as a good thing.
Yes but they are not promoted as brave or sexy for it
Id rewatch over the hedge in theaters
>What happened to Disney?
They went woke, and chase short term profits over their well established consumerbase of white conservative families.
Don't you mean Shitty Single Mothers because in the USA regular families are a minority.
>in the USA regular families are a minority.
You sincerely need to stop reading shitty /misc/reddit memes and thinking this is reality
The bible belt may as well be a different country right now
Go broke, get woke, ultimately CROAK
Shrek is popular with adult crowds who are now the main consumer of animation, especially those who grew up with it. Seeing it in theaters might be seen as an experience.
All three of those Pixar films are on Disney+. Why would parents spend $30 to take their kid to see these films at a theater when they can press play now on their Disney+ app and turn on all three while they go do something else?
>with adult crowds who are now the main consumer of animation
Do you mean autists
no, this is just a return to the normal, when Animation was first being made it's primary audience was adults. It was thanks to television and the Hayes code animation turned to kids in American but now that the stigma of watching animated stuff has waned adults are returning to be the main core audience of the medium. Normies are watching cartoons as adults, there's no avoiding this fact. the market can't be supported by Autists alone.
Soul is a very nice concept but it's just kind of dull as a movie. Luca just isn't great in general
they fired everyone who offends women from their staff
comparing the re-release of Shrek 2 to the re-release of the pandemic direct to streaming pixar movies.
How cute, i wonder how much a re-release of Toy Story 2 would have made, you know - for a fair comparision. Not that you are looking for that.
You already know the answer to that.
>
7
You can't say that.
What about oct 7? Did you forget?
A) Shrek is a meme and all Fortnite homosexuals watch it ironically.
B) Turning Red and Luca are kinda underdog movies, they lack shitty ass songs the moronic kids can sing. I doubt they'd sing "Remember me".
C) Soul is not a movie for kids imo.
Also I'm very sure Soul and Turning Red were released during the pandemic, so the comparison is idiotic to begin with.
>Turning Red and Luca are kinda underdog movies
lmao they were shilled to the extreme
Where they? Not here. And anon shills shit like Twokinds, Hazbin and Helluva. That's like hyping cancer over aids.
Outside of here, you moron. They spent an entire marketing campaign hyping these theatrical releases up on social media and in meatspace. A re-release advertised with all the budget of a few hundred theater posters ended up trumping them domestically.
>t. Jal90 (aka Ghibliano)
What the frick are you saying, Zoomer?
Isn't this from a NSFW animation?
Enough with your fabrications, anon.
>that face
I-is he going to rape me?
have a nice day
>Muhhhh zoomer
>C) Soul is not a movie for kids imo.
?
The lessons there aren't really issues that bother kids but rather young adults who aren't sure how to proceed in life. A kid doesn't fricking ask themself what their point is in life, they just like... laugh at farts and consume garbage or hate art because they're immigrants.
Everyone who actually wanted to watch those films already saw them on Disney Plus for free (minus sub cost ofc). Why bother paying full price after that?
Anon, this may come as a surprise to you, but Shrek 2 is a 20 year old movie.
Which means it can get a nostalgia boost.
I was obviously referring to the Disney shit. Shrek 2 is a classic, people are willing to pay a premium price to see it on the big screen
Tickets are only 5 dollars for Shrek 2
It was the same for the Pixar films too
You realize this is an argument for why people would be more likely to pay to see something, don't you?
That's actually a plus in Shrek's case.
Anniversary and nostalgia boost.
If Pixar did the same with the Incredibles it would also do well
>If Pixar did the same with the Incredibles it would also do well
Doubt it
Turning red, luca and soul are ugly lame movies about feelings and social dynamics, boys dont like them because they arent cool looking and exciting and girls dont like them because they are ugly and weird and the characters dont resonate with them like other Disney princesses or mascots did.
As for adults, they are patronizing and misguided, especially turning red, which treats parenting as bad then expects parenting to relate. Meanwhile Shrek is actually funny, looks interesting and deals with an actual adult struggle of living the married life without alienating or making it obtuse for kids.
>sharktalegay on suicide watch
The Box Office of the release of Shrek 2 is really lackluster compared to most of the mainstream animated features. Hell, is even worse than Ruby Gillman, and that was considered a huge flop.
How much money do you think a limited re-release years after the initial theatrical run usually gets?
It's literally the seventh most lucrative movie rerelease of all time
The thing that the movies on the right all have in common is ugly character design. Soul is like a more boring Coco and Luca is fine. Turning Red sucks though.
But all three cant escape the fact that their human designs are ugly. Yikes
>B-but Shrek 2 is great, is a masterpiece and one of the best sequels and Dreamworks movies ever fr fr no cap no cap is a masterpiece because some E-celeb from Youtube told me so
THE BIG OBESE RABBI
welp guess I gotta add a shrek plushie to my collection.
Turning Red sucks, Luca sucks, and Soul is for middle aged black men who don't really connect with the tones of the film. It feels inherently racist. How many fricking 45-55 year old black men watch Pixar and are fricking jazz instructors who play piano?
Who the frick would relate to it, really.
>Turning Red and Luca sucks, also Soul is racist because the black teacher is interested in jazz, I have the most valid opinions
>I liked Turning Red, Luca, and black men being portrayed as jazz musicians because that's black people have
>I liked it
I mean I liked it. I went to go see it in theatres. Easily one of Pixar's best looking.
>be me
>ride to Cinemark
>bring my very tiny dog that can fit in my pocket
>bring a bottle of Boost Plus chocolate flavored protein shake with a straw
>find that all of the kung fu Panda 4 merchandise has been replaced with Ryan Reynolds IF merchandise, so I missed out on purchasing the Po and Zhen blanket
>The only Kung Fu Panda 4 merchandise that still remains is one 6 dollar cup
>go into the movie
>get a Cinemark XD feature presentation bumper even though I'm not in a Cinemark XD room
>Shrek 2 begins
>autist in front of me says every single line before the characters say them, I would have been better off without that but bless his soul
>my dog dances everytime a song plays
>credits roll and my dog dances to the music
>leave the room once the film has completed and the janitor comes in
>stick my dog in all of the cardboard cutouts and take pictures
>realize my wallet is no longer in my pocket
>panic
>wallet was on a countertop next to my empty Boost bottle where I set it down
>take a picture of my dog sitting with the IF plushies
>decide to get the 6 dollar Kung Fu Panda 4 cup
>Tell the merchant "I would like to give Universal a 6 dollar tip"
>merchant tells me the cup I am holding is for display only and takes out another Kung Fu Panda 4 cup while I put the display cup back
>Merchant asks if I want anything in the cup and I say "I'm just here for the cup"
>Pay for the cup and go home
You are a bot.
No, but I am artificially intelligent.
>Twitter cap
>company warring
>wornout meme
I'm not engaging with you except to tell you that I'm not engaging with you.
>What happened to Disney?
Cherry picking examples doesn't prove anything.
Honestly, I wouldn't even describe any of those movies as "What happened to Disney" culprits. The shit Disney is commonly known for these days isn't in these three titles. I'd even say they tried to experiment here but it backfired. Not everything can be Frozen, thank god.
Why compare one of dreamworks best movies from decades ago to new Disney slop when they JUST released megamind 2? Even turning red was better than that.
megamind 2 is a low budget direct to streaming movie
the disney ones were made for theaters and were only released on streaming first because of covid
>megamind 2 is a low budget direct to streaming movie
Which was garbage and released at the same time as the next kung fu panda movie which fans also hated despite it technically using and making more money. Dreamworks gave us one good sequel recently but immediately followed it with two shitty sequels at the same time. It just doesn't look good.
>megamind 2 is a low budget direct to streaming movie
Not an excuse when people expect DTS movies to be on par with theatrical releases nowadays.
SAY IT WITH ME
DIRECT TO VIDEO TV MOVIE.
Shrek 2 is a good movie, if Disney rereleased the Lion King or Beauty and the beast in theatres, it would make similar or even more than Shrek,
I think they did do a re release of the Lion King a while bag and while it made good money it didn't do over a million good like this.
Wait, their run already ended?!
Found a bunch of shrek 2 bootlegs
DEI or Bridge or whatever its called now. Political correctness is never entertaining unless its done ironically.
If their Snow White was a comedy and they called it "Snow Caucasian and the 7 Little People", it might hit differently.
