Everything else related to it is basically vapid emptyness.
First one is the worst one and was a cheap The Wild ripoff. The sequels were actually fun tho.

First one was made at the same time and on the same building as Shrek 2. It seems that all the charm that you'd expect Shrek 2 to have (after the charming first Shrek) ended up going to Madagascar instead.
Totally agree with this. First Madagascar is insanely better than Shrek 2. In fact, Shrek 2 is an overrated, boring, unfunny, outdated, visually unnapealing and vapid piece of garbage. Also annoying villains, the only good thing is puss in boots, the rest is trash, one of the worst DreamWorks efforts, vastly inferior to Antz, Shrek or kung fu Panda 2.

There was clearly more thought and passion put into the side characters than the main ones.
I can tolerate the mediocrity of the main series because we got two utterly golden shows out of it. Now give me my fricking complete series release of Penguins, Nickelodeon.

Funny, interesting characters and art style. DIdn't try to be an everything salad like most Pixar movie.
