Disney channel was always dogshit. It was just a means to flex on poor kids in school
Only good thing was gravity falls
>inb4 hurr tumblr troony
Shut up Black person
>Only good thing was gravity falls
You are the tumblr troony.
that's not how you spell Kids Incorporated
Phineas and Ferb was kino
Holy zoomer
they had a pretty good run of movies when I was a kid I feel like, that smart house one and the one about rollerblading were both great
2002 to 2014
Agreed. I watched Brink like 30 goddamn times.
Early bug juice period
I never went to summer camp but it looks like the jam, especially for me, the counsellor
Disney channel was always turbo-normie homosexual shit. I can’t imagine being someone who would watch that garbage over Nick or CN
Because Vault Disney would come on at night. I could swap between watching adult swim and classic Disney kino
Why did they get rid of it?
GISNEP
'83-86. The people who has The Disney Channel were either rich or were seen as spoiled.
What did they have on the channel?
They ran all the classics, like Snow White, Pinocchio, Robin Hood, you name it, but also all their older cartoons and lots and lots of specials centered around Disneyland and Disneyworld.
Plus they played extended versions of movies that were never sold, like when they played a nearly theatrically complete "The Goonies" minus the Goonies pledge mentioning nuclear war of course because Richard Donner was an idiot at times.
Disneed Channel
Those first two are what I remember the most. Mickey Mouse Club (MMC), family movies in the evening and cartoons in the early afternoon. Once they went full children's programming though I stopped watching because it really lost that variety feel from earlier years. Which was most of the charm.
>Once they went full children's programming though I stopped watching because it really lost that variety feel from earlier years
That was when they decided to compete with Nickelodeon.
based. You must be around same as me (34)
I remember you could see Yogi Bear, Zorro, and the Hobbit animated movie all on Disney Channel
I have fond memories of watching the rebooted Mickey Mouse club in the late 80s. It's rare to find anyone else who even knows about it because it was premium.
86-97 for sure
It had actual third party content, fun-for-the-whole family, classic disney stuff, etc..
After that it just became tween sitcoms
Zoog Disney killed Disney Channel in 98, well before Nick or CN went to shit
Isn’t that when they moved the cartoons to its own channel?
Yes, frick toon disney and FRICK zoogs
What kind of name is zoogs?
The original pitch were to be 2D cartoon characters called "Zoogers", which were supposed to be something like the burger king kids club but for Disney. Named zoogers because they lived with an alien called Zoog
It sort of have a weird developmental history.
What a dumb name.
There was a lot of people in that group who became famous
99-14 if I'm not mistaken that was the time of zoog Disney somewhere in there and that was the only time I really watched much Disney. I mostly tuned in for Lizzie Mcguire and that's because I was in the beginning of puberty and Hillary Duff.
My sister was the disneygay, I was a Cartoon Network Chad who would dabble in Nick from time to time. Imagine watching homosexual shit on Yidsneed instead of PPG, Dexter's Lab, DBZ, etc.
in the 80s Nick didn't really have much original programming
You Can't Do That On Television was the only notable thing that wasn't Looney Tunes reruns until Ren and Stimpy started.
>You Can't Do That On Television was the only notable thing
Wrong, anon. There was Turkey TV, The Third Eye [!], Today's Special, and lots of other chit.
Pre-91 Nick was mainly Tom & Jerry and Mighty Mouse, actually. Looney Tunes first came in 1989 later.
A lot of early Nick is a blackhole that most people have forgotten. 91-92 really made the network
The stuff from Canada
Today's Special
The Elephant Show
Fred Penner's Place
I remember the 99 to 02 fondly as a young child my older sister stopped watching after even stevens thats so raven and lizzy mcguire were done and i never wanted to watch the channel after
The time when it was obviously managed by pedophiles and all the songs in shit like Hanna Montana, camp rock etc had heavily sexualized undertones
86-97
before the poorgay masses showed up and ruined everything
those half hour long ads for Disney World with sitcom stars were kino
Shit this goes way back. We would get like a 2 week free sample of Disney Channel every year. There was like a Winnie the pooh show but they were humans in animal suits like barney or something.
Reminder 90s MMC all had Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling, Keri Russell, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Christina Aguilera on it.
Talk about being able to call 'em
Only good shit was their movies and House of Mouse
