Casino Royale should have been For Your Eyes Only for Brosnan. After Moonraker/Die Another Day, he gets a new, grounded movie to get the train back on track and Pierce could have easily kept going for another decade. She knows nothing about movie making and certainly nothing about James Bond.

Had CR not been successful we would have gotten a completely different set of movies, possibly with a new bond. Instead we had one great hit with 4 goober movies chasing its coattails. Sad, had they unironically gone the Brosnan route and made 4 movies that could stand on their own his era could have been great. The serialized drama and expanding Craig's backstory ended up being hackneyed bad writing from people who couldn't figure out what they wanted to do but had a ton of money to do it. I'm not sure how the Broccoli estate is involved but I'm sure they had a hand in nuking the series.
the overarching plot was just not that interesting and I fricking hated how the MI6 crew had a bigger focus in the last 2 movies.

I feel like I generally like Daniel Craig's James Bond but the other day I thought about it and literally only one of his movies is good, the rest are all trash. He had one great one with Casino Royale out the gate and every movie after that was a letdown (yes Skyfall too, movie is overrated as frick).

They made one good movie, then a movie that was ok but too weirdly attached to the previous movie, too much of a direct sequel and not interesting/unique enough by itself. Then they went straight from "the opening of his career" movies to "he's old and washed up at the end of his career" movies. All of which, while pretty, had serious script problems, tanking rewatchability.
