on what planet is the target audience for star trek anything beyond reddit virgins
You say tgat but it wouldn't be as bad if it were in fact for Reddit and not designed by committee to pander to a, in the eyes of the producers, hitherto unexploited demographic, namely morons
there's a /trek/ thread you could have posted this in, but instead you decided to kill a thread to get replies from board tourists.
You know what, godspeed. Enjoy your shitty thread for as long as it lasts.
that thread deserved to die
/trek/ is a cesspool
so are we supposed to pretend and retcon in our minds that worf always looked like one of these blue guys or what? i never understood that
They explained that though. The Klingons in TOS had a virus that made them look human.
>They explained that though
retcons are fake and gay.
its allowed if its an upgrade
why did you post that angry balding man?
It’s not a retcon, it was never explained prior.
>b-but you’re just supposed to imagine the TOS Klingons as looking like TNG ones
Headcanon =/= canon
>b-b-but it's not a retcon!!!!
lol. lmao even
I hate JJ Abrams a little less now that I know
You could fit the entire delta quadrant within that tooth gap.
It’s not.
It wasn't a retcon because it was never explained prior to that ENT episode about the virus. The only real reference we ever got to it before then was the DS9 episode where they go back in time to The Trouble With Tribbles and they question Worf about it and he just says "We don't talk about that"
Even if they weren't, Worf's makeup looks like a reasonable evolution of the tng makeup. It's just a more expensive version due to more budget.
The other looks like a complete different show.
TOS was made with ridiculously low budget, especially season 3.
This is canonically what Klingons should look like post-ENT/pre-TMP (which STD falls squarely in)
They kind of look like those racist caricatures from /misc/. What were they thinking indeed
Like all Nutrek the production values are higher but none of their decisions make any sense.
The term "rubber forehead aliens" was invented because even though they could have Muppet aliens, human faces are much better actors. Cluttering Klingon faces with all that shit on the right makes reading their expressions harder which is a detriment to the acting.
This bugged me too. Roddenberry had a policy that aliens had eyebrows and even in the rare circumstances they didn't, the Ferengi had a clear brow ridge that conveyed expression as did the much later Species 8472.
Nu-Klingons have a solid brow and it's made worse as the heavy makeup prevents expression elsewhere too. It might be unrealistic but it's important for a space opera that the actors can convey recognisable emotions in an alien species. Otherwise it's just a slab of purple on my screen pissing me off because it looks so dumb.
/trek/ is by far the worst thread on Cinemaphile at any given moment and jannies need to purge it. It was literally good for a summer in 2014 when we all watched Star Trek again but then the general-rot immediately seeped in.
And I wish Worf's arc with Troi and Alexander had been respected.
You mean to say that it needs mature writing to drive the episodes forward. Television doesn't have good writers anymore. As a culture we struggle to produce anything like the kind of sustained shows like Star Trek of Twilight Zone and it's why both their reboots have failed miserably. The bad politics and cringe dialogue is a symptom of something much worse.
>It was literally good for a summer in 2014 when we all watched Star Trek again but then the general-rot immediately seeped in.
you say that like this isn't /trek/
Wish we had gotten a captain worf series tho
The TNG design for Klingons is under copyright. CBS didn't want to pay the copyright holder so they had to come up with a different design.
CBS is the copyright holder
Not always 100%. Also Paramount also own Trek.
nutrek is a franchise reboot. I don't care what they say that's what it is. the Kelvin movies made money so nutrek is kind of a mixture of the prime and kelvin timelines creatively and stylistically.
paramount doesn't just want to call nutrek a franchise reboot because somehow that lessens its validity but that's ridiculous.
call it what it is and focus on the things people seem to like, maybe win back some fans in the process
I don't know if it's possible to make a trek show in the spirit of the 90's anymore with all the politics and woke crap around, and I really liked Commander Sisko. Plus original sci-fi stories to turn into episodes are hard to come by.
all Trek is made in the spirit of the age it was made. TOS was pure cold war, civil right and all the other shit from the 1960s. the problem with nutrek is they basically fast and loose with continuity.
STD and SNW are set pre TOS but are more advanced technologically than anything on TOS. yes TOS was made in the 1960s but ENT was pre TOS but they held with continuity fairly well. all pre nutrek shows have some minor errors but nutrek absolutely doesn't give a shit and thinks easter eggs count as continuity.
if they would just admit nutrek is a different timeline, than all the major continuity errors wouldn't mean anything. to me it's a win win for paramount. the people who don't care about continuity will watch regardless but for the fans who care about it, the blatant continuity errors almost make it unwatchable, they're beyond annoying. however they wouldn't be if they'd just say it's a franchise reboot.
The old klingons were iconic so they had to be replaced with generic, soulless trash to make the nepobabies feel like they were doing something.
I thought it was kinda cool innitially, but they should have kept the hair
I fricking hate ~~*~~*J.J Abrems*~~*~~!
I'm still mad about lost.
that's not even getting into how he butchered star trek and star wars.
Frick this israelite
Frick bad robot
Frick secret hideout
Frick CBS
Frick Lucas films (post Disney buyout).
Are you OK? That's a lot of fricks. Your cortisol levels must be through the roof.
First season was Kino,
rest was....questionable
one looks like a regular human with halloween prosthetics and the other looks like an actual alien species
One looks like a weird human and the other looks like a PS4 game.
They both look like Halloween prosthetics
You want an actual ayy? Drop the two arms two legs bipedal shit, if its humanoid its halloween
Nu Klingons also have 2 dicks. Don't forget that
>19XX A.D. : Michael Dorn in alien proesthetics
>20XX A.D. : The most racist caricature of a black man you have ever seen on Star Trek
GigaBlack person
why TOS era Klingons look different is addressed in DS9
it's explained in ENT
No, they were always meant to look like that in TOS. The movies wanted to try something different with no explanation.
Everything since DS9 isn't that great.
wojaks were a mistake
wojaks are just rage comics that went /misc/.
So yes, utter fricking mistakes.
Evey time I see one I can feel the rage of the angry /misc/tard that posted it in an attempt to make the world as ugly as they feel, Real sad shit. Now frog posters are clearly men of distinction.
I also like how the nuKlingons all sounded like the Dog of Wisdom.
