They were thinking smelly nerds will redeem their netflix subscriptions for this you homosexual OP. Reminder they've already done Full Metal Alche movies and they bombed so hard they cratered, otherwise I would have said you can expect that next.
Probably something like "man it's going to be impossible to properly adapt a character like Ed from anime to live action but maybe our best bet is this androgynous kid who's a huge fan of the anime"
Yes, but Cinemaphile users always convince themselves that jf they don't like something then literally everyone else is just a marketer trying to trick them. In fact they renewed it for a second season just to psyop you personally.
It honestly wasn't that bad it's just an unfortunate victim of the culture wars. Like the black mail black male line. Out of context it sounds woke but if you watch it it's played to be cringe because it's basically Jet having to deal with bullshit as usually. Btw the guy who played Jet fricking nailed it.
She got the personality and mannerisms for Ed completely wrong but I'd gladly impregnate her repeatedly until she dropped the "nonbinary" made up bullshit
>what were they thinking
That 2 seconds at the end of the season was not what fricked up that show.
It was gutting soul for what they thought could make it more broadly marketable, which is dumb when Netflix's approach to originals started as creating niche content so different market segments all have different reasons to subscribe.
Cucking Vicious' character into being lame Draco Malfoy was dumb. Making Julia a boss b***h was dumb. Making the Syndicate play out like a CW drama was dumb. Making Gren into some generic gay that calls themselves nonbinary was dumb. There's more, but all of the depth of the show was all filled in and made shallow.
Possibly the most disappointing adaptation of all time
>Gosling as Spike >Mel Gibson as Jet >some famous tall chinese actress as Fey >no kid or dog bullshit >Adam Driver as Vicious >Sarah Gadon as Julia >directed by Villeneuve
easy flop
They used the IP solely as a vehicle for their propaganda/demoralisation, while insisting they loved and respected the source material: https://youtu.be/Erb2x5SQHd8
I still say Ed should have been CGI or regular animated. You can't have an actual human 11 yo girl do the things Ed did in the cartoon. Also what were the plans if they did get another season or two. That kid would have changed so much.
>You can't have an actual human 11 yo girl do the things Ed did
True, but then the whole idea of doing it as a live-action show was a mistake. Also, the portrayal would have better if she hadn't been showing off - Ed in the anime was self-absorbed, not playing to an audience. >what were the plans if they did get another season or two
I'm not convinced they had any, whatever they claimed. Apart from doing more "Remember thiiiiis?" with Volaju, I guess. They crammed about as much awfulness into ten episodes as humanly possible, so job done.
Live action ed was no worse than the cartoon version.
Almost dropped the anime when she appeared. Easily Watanabe's biggest mistake, that and the engrish speaking character in Zankyou no Terror.
Reminder that they hid QR codes in the episodes that led to the privated "becoming Ed" youtube video, which went live two or three days after the show because they were so confident everyone would love the show and would think that final scene was the cherry on top.
You're right but there was a huge astroturfing campaign prior to release, articles about how they cast a troony, how Faye's actress was being bullied by incels, how Spike is totally Asian in the anime and Jet being black isn't a big change, etc.
All that shit stopped because not enough people watched it in general, there weren't even enough vocal critics to bait into hateclicking on further news stories or whatever

Poor little jellybean
Probably something like "man it's going to be impossible to properly adapt a character like Ed from anime to live action but maybe our best bet is this androgynous kid who's a huge fan of the anime"
they weren't
If I had to guess its some israelite producers kid who he wanted to shoehorn in
holy shit is that where that 'jak variant comes from
lil jellybean sweetheart
Hollywood outdone by cosplayers once again.
That also looks like shit
She has a bunch of gross tattoos that ruin it when you see her naked.
Still more accurate than what Netflix came up with.
She's just deliberately pissing off her foot fetish fanbois.
Why are the feet censored
>black
German of ½ Turkish parentage.
>german
Almost certainly has had multiple black dicks inside her.
Obsessed
Why is she cosplaying a Mexican character then?
I miss little jellybean.
botched nosejob hideous
what's up with cosplayers getting those upturned nosejobs that make them look like michael jackson?
She's having dental work done for pointy canines too. Girl is so into Goth she thinks vanta black is the light.
Is she in whiteface?
it's hot.
He does Kaolla Su to.
She looks 80
pig nosejob
thighs too fat
It's sad what her parents did to her.
Why didn't it succeed like One Piece?
It walked so one piece could run
One Piece succeeded? I never see anyone genuinely talking about it, only marketers prompting it up.

We'll see how it goes. Witcher was all the rage back then too.
I would have never even known it existed if it wasn't for Cinemaphile shills

I started calling her jellybean. It’s my only sticking contribution to maymay culture. I’ll take it, though
>Only member of the Bebop crew to actually be brown in the anime
>Cast a white girl
SEXOOO
>red-haired tanned character
>Cinemaphile insists she's a PoC
what gives?
in other news gyaru's are tanned japanese people and not black
uohhhhhhhhh!
she's so cute bros ;__;
how can roasties even compete?
She got the personality and mannerisms for Ed completely wrong but I'd gladly impregnate her repeatedly until she dropped the "nonbinary" made up bullshit
she/her is a psychopath. Don't do it.
butt fangs

That last scene with Ed was their final frick-you to the character of Spike and anyone who gave a shit about him.
>Gosling as Spike
>Mel Gibson as Jet
>some famous tall chinese actress as Fey
>no kid or dog bullshit
>Adam Driver as Vicious

More importantly; what was the dog thinking?
Kill me, please.
Probably the only way Ed could have been adapted to live action
Sad we didn't get to see S2
>be me
>lil jellybean
>miss
>like you wouldn't believe
>Show cancelled on her birthday
Damn

I want season 2
And people in Hell want ice water.
Shills pretend this is good
Netflix bebop was universally panned. Not even the woke sites like it that much

SPIKE SPEGAL!
You don't want to know.
She wasn't even that bad. Julia and Vicious were way worse.
why didnt they cast a turbomanlet filipino for the role?
