For me, its who am i
Who Am I? (1998)
Based. That rooftop fight is second only to Meals on Wheels
Who would win in a fight between Jackie Chan and Tom Cruise?
That's such a stupid question. Could Tom Cruise beat anyone? I'm sure he beats his women but that's it.
For Tom Cruise to win, it would have to be a Western movie and directed by Tarantino.
In Mission Impossible Fallout, Tom Cruise needs Henry Cavill to help him fight one asian guy. Something to think about. He needed Superman.
they could both beat me off
That's funny but delete it.
ok i will
>could tom cruise win
>with his 50 sycophant desicples willing to litterly die for him shadowing him at all times
im thinking he has a shot lol
In a fight I would always bet on an amateur wrestler vs. a traditional martial artist. Hell even a boxer or kickboxer. Also Jackie is beat to shit. His body is worse than a professional wrestler's.
damn wypipo really all do look the same
>black & white pic
jesus, how old is cruise
damn, half the team took the neckpill seriously
Tom Cruise, easily.
Chan and Cruise should do a team up movie.
it would have been THE film of the 90s
It depends, are chairs allowed? Not as a weapon but as a tool to confuse the oponent.
btfo by a troony
no way this is actually him?
no, cruise is much shorter than that
How do you recover, id take out my concealed carry and blast her face
>troony
>her
That's clearly just a dude dressed up for a costume party
Yeah because trannies aren't dressed up dudes lol
>Cruise cosplay
>actually a manlet
well played
jackie was considered incredibly skilled and fast, being able to pull his punches while also getting super close to Benny the jet. even if jackie doesn't actually have any matches under his belt, he does train in kickboxing and boxing
idk you tell me
Only Brad Pitt can beat up experienced Asian martial artists despite having no training himself.
>how much energy would be released if two neutrinos collided
They are old farts. The average Cinemaphile autist could probably beat both of them and still havr energy lrft to ahitpost about it.
kek remember when brad pitt threw him into a car?
In my country he is no person
in every country you are no person
its a meme you dip
legend of drunken master was pretty damn neat. it's unreal how many stunts he did, he frickin set himself on fire
Gotta be Police Story
second. all the police story movies are chino (chinese kino)
>all the police story movies are chino (chinese kino)
New police story sucks ass though. The originals were good shit but new police story was just weird melodramatic garbage
that one doesnt count
/thread
Peak Chan, living proof that child abuse just werks
Insane take. The movie has great beginning and end set pieces, but the middle is a boring slog. Project A is better in every way.
I feel like a lot of people really overrate that era of Jackie Chan because they "discover" his Hong Kong era but the movies almost directly after are way better
These movies stick out because the action sequences in them are so memorable. There are other hong kong action movies that exist around the same time where I would say the movies as a whole are better but the action sequences don't leave that imprint on your brain like the chan ones do
Police Story is so overrated. The long, boring middle part, during which nothing happens, ruined the movie for me.
It did lead to Supercop though which was kino.
Supercop
Meet the cop
who can't be stopped
Drunken Master II
You tards are wrong. There's two things here. One, you can tolerate the shitty dubs, Chingrish, bad production values and general foreign plotting elements of his movies. In that case
Two, you are sensitive to that stuff and you want to see something watchable with light-hearted kung fu chinese man, in which case the answer is Shanghai Noon or Shanghai Knights, take your pick.
Otherwise you're basically an animes
CIA is hilariously the bad guy in Shanghai Knights
The One
chan is literally a china shill and his movies are to be memoryholed if you're a decent honest jesus fearing patriotic american
Rush Hour
first strike
gorgeous
thunderbolt
rumble in the bronx
in that order
in that order
The GOAT chan scene is when he fights the other asiatics off with a ladder in First Strike.
iirc he kungfu fights sharks at some point in the same kino
Discovering Jackie when Rumble came out was such an awesome time. After seeing that in 95 I just wanted more. It took time but Blockbuster would get it and First Strike and Gorgeous. Specialty video stores sold VHS tapes but they were pretty expensive. Chinatown had some but they weren't subbed or dubbed. Jackie led to Jet Li and John Woo etc.
why do boomers suck off this soulless chink so much?
Because he did his own stunts and never wanted no trouble.
Zoomers have their brains rotted by CGI
Only Americans do
t. NPCs
Shut your homosexual mouth. You're too young and stupid to be sharing opinions publicly.
who let this zoomer out of his redditcage?
How fricking moronic are you
what exactly makes them soulless
Go back to tick tock, zoomshit.
i've only grazed the Jackino
Police Story
The Young Master
Wheels on Meals
Dragons Forever
Project A
Snake in the Eagle's Shadow
Winners & Sinners
Heart of a Dragon
Drunken Master
Fantasy Mission Force
Spiritual Kung Fu
Seriously, how in the frick has noone ever managed to make action choreographies even half as good as he does? Why aren't there more Jackie Chans?
Jackie, Yuen, Sammo and the rest all grew up in being abused in Peking Opera. Basically you're never going to get anyone with that level of talent again
Plus even if you had the talent its too expensive to insure a movie like that
Why Yuen Biao fall off so hard after the 80s?
Yuen never had much cross over success it seems (compared to jackie and sammo)
He didn't have a good "hook" I guess. Righting Wrongs is a perfect film though
It's a shame coz he is the most impressive performer of the three
sad as hell to think that now he's old, and it's so unlikely that anyone else will be able to pull the same shit at this quality
I hope we do get some choreography gods like that in cinema.
Lots of reasons.
-the peaking opera students like him sammo and biao were literally tortured until they could perform the way they do
-they actually beat the shit out of each other in fight scenes in hong kong, it's not pretend
-the know how to shoot fight scenes, nice wide shots so you can actually see the hits
-they know how to edit correctly, they actually show a lot of hits twice, really quickly so your eye/brain registers the hits with more impact
-they take time to get their takes perfect, jackie famously does hundreds of takes on certain moves/stunts just to get them right
etc
don't know about you guys, but I think it sucks that Jackie Chan never actually starred in a 'good', memorable, timeless american/western action film (or in general), like, quality-wise, not just action- and comedy-wise.
Imagine what it could be like if he were to star in an action-drama film directed by Michael Mann, Paul Verhoeven, Mel Gibson, or even Edgar Wright, or whoever with a good script writer.
Most memorable actors have at least that one movie that everyone remembers them by, and I feel like Jackie Chan doesn't have one
Rush Hour is a classic
Or at least choreograph action scenes. He would have been the lifelong president of Stuntmen.
He doesn't want to be a super serious drama actor, he wants to be fun. Like Tom Cruise. Jet Li is the one with serious aspirations which is why he did Blue Heaven.
except Tom did a bunch of drama movies that will be remembered for a long time
To an extent though, it's done wonders for his brand. No movie makes Jackie Chan cool, he's Jackie Chan and he makes movies cool.
Also, for a lot of people that movie would be Rush Hour. I don't really like it, but it's his biggest western film by a long shot.
He passed on "Everything, Everywhere, All at Once."
Would have been kino with him playing the dad.
Yeah but the kid from the Goonies was really good anyway. I bet Jackie would have done it if the movie wasn't so full of homosex and dicks.
EEAAO was great without Jackie anyway, you're right. I would have liked to have seen it, though. Also, didn't know he was a Goonie.
While it would have, it's nice to see Yeoh getting some recognition. Yes she had Crouching Tiger, but one prestige wuxia is different from people reflecting on the fantastic filmography she's had.
Police Story is overrated
Crime Story however, severely underrated
This. Crime Story is unironically a good movie. If you are familiar with Chankino genre conventions (running, kung fu fighting, black and white morality), there's a lot to love. The serious setting, decently acted, good baddie, kino Kowloon third act.
snake in the eagle's shadow and first drunken master
Jackie Chan Adventures
Police Story 3
True homies prefer Sammo
Hell yeah Sammo is king
How many of you are skateboarders because of Golden Harvest? I am guessing a good amount
I get chills watching this shit. It's the highest form of kino. Pure dedication, skill, training and practice. Zero bullshit, only kino.
What movie is this? Drunken Master II?
Canton Godfather
Miracles. It's excellent.
How the hell are those guys ok?
They're actually fricking falling on their backs.
padded clothing and knowing how to fall properly. Also that desk may be made special to have some give to it
Gambesons are fricking magic.
Padded clothes under the outfits, also sometimes they'll just outright paint pads to match wood patterns. Also you can handle most falls on you back or shoulders so long as you let the upper area hit first before your head or lower back.
Police Story
Drunken Master 2
And the extremely underrated OPERATION CONDOR which is a better Indiana Jones movie than any of the Indiana Jones movies
>Operation Condor
Operation Condor was a United States-backed campaign of political repression and state terror involving intelligence operations and assassination of opponents. It was officially and formally implemented in November 1975 by the right-wing dictatorships of the Southern Cone of South America. Wikipedia
Yeah, and?
>Operation Condor
Hell yeah.
Watched my VHS copy as a kid each week after school ended.
I wasn't prepared to see her bum.
He lost alot of weight for Everything Everywhere At Once
i love Rumble in the Bronx
Rush Hour 2
Which kind though?
He has two very distinct styles Martial Arts and Stunts.
Police Story, Project A and Armor of God are is the saint trinity of peak Jackie. But his whole 80s Hong-Kong era is must-watch.
Aside from the opening sequence and the car chase, Armor of God is NOT good
>Project A
what does the A stand for?
It's never said. It's a meta thing. Chinese plagiarize so much any time they filed the title rights for a movie there would be copycats made. And Chinese titles are specific. So if you filed rights for a movie called Police Story you would have to compete against 10 other knockoff cop movies. It was like The Asylum.
Nobody knows wtf Project A could be about and they decided to just keep the name instead of changing it later.
huh
Asswhoopin
When he made the Chinese qt kiss Will Smith niglet in the mouth.
Favorite Jackie kino is the behind the scenes of him getting pissed at all the foreigners for not hitting their marks.
For me, it's My Lucky Stars.
Armour Of God.
Sick asf title song too
The movie looks cool but I can't believe Jackie's character is literally called Asian. That's so uninspired.
>can't find the HK cut anywhere
pain
that's not thunderbolt!
>when your 10/10 sister takes your cushion
she didnt take the cusion moron
Super Cop
Tangent: Best HK films pre millennium?
Is it A: The Killer or
B: Comrades, Almost A Love Story?
Bullet in the Head
>Bullet in the Head
Sounds cool, thanks.
If you liked The Killer, Bullet in the Head has the same dark atmosphere but it's more fleshed out. It feels more complete. It's one of Woo's best.
Chungking Express is a good romance film.
Fist of Legend and Drunken Master 2 were rad
>Chungking Express
Correct.
This, so fricking much this. I cried because i'll never know such a pain of friendship
Same. Bullet in the Head is one of the manliest movies about friendship ever. I cried like a b***h.
>This, so fricking much this.
yikes
>chased with a yikes
You sure showed him.
i was being ironic chud
No you weren't. You're just cringe in the end
okay sweetie
>cringe in the end
Awful sequel to Bullet in the Head.
A Better Tomorrow
The Killer isn't even the best Woo film from that era.
> What's his biggest kino?
becoming full china shill and abandoning hongkong
>Chinese person supports China instead of the English narco outpost still ruled by a fricking bank that made its money pushing opium to his grandfathers
How traitorous of him!
Drunken Master
Snake in the Eagle's Shadow
Anyone have a webm of the Who Am I puncher and kicker duel?
For me, it's when Benny The Jet showed up for a fight scene in Grosse Pointe Blank because he was John Cusack's karate kickboxing coach at the time (and still runs a gym in hawaii and uploads to a youtube channel)
The only film I liked Aykroyd in. He's a good villain.
i like twinkle twinkle lucky star a lot, even if i only ever had a dubbed version.
Rumble in the Bronx or drunken master
disowning his daughter was pretty kino
What did she do?
Pretty sure because she's a lesbian.
Based Jackie.
she was a bastard child. he disowned and disinherited her but eventually made up with her when she was like 21-23, don't really remember the details
rumble in the bronx
>OKAY
>I LOVE YOUUU
Chinese Zodiac
jackie is the most important and only great person in cinema history
Enter the Dragon
He has too many to name. He's the greatest action hero in the history of all cinema.
Police Story, Rush Hour, Drunken Master, Miracles, Project A, Operation Condor, Armor of God, Wheels on Meals, Dragons Forever, sequels to these films and more. Stunts, Choreography, Action, a genuine superstar and innovator with massive worldwide appeal.
When Jackie dies and people take stock of how great he is, people will truly understand the breadth of his influence.
We're all lucky to share this planet with the guy.
Also, watch City Hunter. It's for free, unedited and in HD on Youtube. It's hilarious.
Jackie Chan was in an adaptation of City Hunter? How the frick had I not heard of this?
you had to have seen the clip of him as chun li fighting
City Hunter is the only movie I watched again immediately after watching it the first time.. and actually after seeing it twice back to back, I watched the Street Fighter 2 scene a third time
Frickincredible movie
it's funny that city hunter was one of the only movie he was ashamed of. Not cause of the chun li scene, but he didn't like playing a babe chasing sleaze.
He also plays a babe chasing sleaze in Dragons Forever though. Maybe because by the end of that one he's changed, in a way I don't imagine he is as the end of City Hunter.
I have, I just never questioned what movie it was from. I've been working my way through his filmography for a while, so I knew I'd hit it sooner or later.
Of God
It was ahead of its time
shanghai noon or drunken master
Just because it wasn't mentioned; Snake in the Eagles Shadow
It features
>Jackie learning a technique by watching a cat fricking up a cobra
>A missionary man getting hit in the balls so hard that he dies
>the same old kungfu teacher from Drunken Master
>Project A (by far)
>Operation Condor 2
>Police Story 3
Snake in the Eagle's Shadow (1978)
The Police Story trilogy is utter kino. Super comfy and some of the best stunts ever.
The one where he accidentally becomes a crime boss.
That was Miracles.
He was also Short Round
I was talking about shinjuku incident. He starts doing crimes with his Chinese friends. It cuts to the future where he's a simple farmer unaware that is the head of a massive gang.
the one where he did a better fast and furious movie than all the franchise combined
WHO AM IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
Armour of God with the indiana jones style scene at the start was great too.
The original Drunken Master.
big trouble in little china
What's his?
He got cancer shit really sucked his soul
Then finally he got treatment his last appearance was in Mulan. He's slightly older looking, but he doesn't look like his soul got drained anymore
Fist of Legend
Fist of Legend is number 1
Other good movies are Tai Chi Master and High Risk. The One is like the ultimate moronic early 2000s action movie with slo mo and nu-metal. The ones where he plays Wong FEI Hung are good too and My Father is a Hero is fricking ridiculous because it has a scene where Jet Li ties a rope to his autistic son and wields him like a meteor hammer
Hero
When I found out the real story behind Hero it destroyed the movie for me because the actual events are so moronic.
Chinese Achilles 2
Box Office: probably Shanghai Noon
Most famous for: Supercop (Police Story 3)
Best: hard to say, too many movies and I've only seen a fraction
Isn't he known these days to be kind of a dick?
Like he didn't even talk to his old stunt crew for like 20 years and when they were reunited he looked kinda pissed about having to associate with them.
He's been a mouthpiece for the CCP ever since HK was about to leave british hands.
I like City Hunter a lot
Anyone vs Jackie Chan with a ladder and some dinner plates who doesn't want any trouble
