There was a period of time I binged all the bond films, each actors are so different it's hard to compare them tbh
Goldfinger is really good but some of Connery's movies sucked not because of him though, I really liked Timothy Dalton's movies but meh..and imo Roger Moore has the best movies but they are very campy...pierce brosnan is just great and I love goldeneye but his other movies were shit and I can't stand Craig's movies, I barely count lazenby
Anyway thanks for listening, kind of went off on a tangent then, point is it depends what you like imo there is something for everyone with bond and they seem to adapt to whatever is popular in action movies at the time
I find Craig's movies very sterile and grounded but the things I like about bond movies are the girls, gadgets, super villains an henchmen with crazy super weapons, M and Q giving him direction but James being a smartarse smooth ladies man and pissing them off, idk..I appreciate them for what they are but you could just watch taken or a some tom Clancy movie, that's just my two cents
As a movie it's still good just not very bond
It keeps a lot in common with the books depiction of Bond and his being conflicted. The plot of QoS was much more traditional Bond than Casino Royale and still manages to do the License to Kill style rogue agent plot. It mostly suffers from Bourne Identity syndrome with shaky cams and over extended fight scenes. But iI think it's still definitely better than some of the Bond films.
I didn't care for the rest of the craig films though. Spectre sucked dog shit thru a firehose and NTtD is even worse and I refuse to watch it
Yeah..I don't know going back to the books roots I guess thats good if you have read the books so I can't really comment
I just can't really get around bond being like Jason Bourne I'd rather he just be James bond, the whole overly serious tone dulls it for me, not that I don't like the Bourne movies or things like that but I always felt bond had its own identity as a series but the newer movies just blended in with other stuff

it's a little bit of an overcorrection, since ALL the camp is gone, but as a matter of taste I prefer that over the Moore era self parody ( which are ok as goofy adventure movies, but not so much as bond movies, IMO)
This is the best and I'll give my reasons and also detractors.
It has one of the most underrated scores of any Bond film with excellent 90's Leon vibes; the best evil bond woman and a top 3 tier villain. The pre credits opening is legit the GOAT of the franchise. It has a killer aesthetic, dark tone, and Pierce Brosnans debut was solid.
Weaknesses are the female lead, shit theme song and the film drags with the radar and riveria segments but the procs outweigh the cons.
I'm about to watch For Your Eyes Only. I think I've seen it before but not for a long time; I don't remember anything about it since I never really liked the Moore movies.
Die Another Day
This film lasts too long and the asian chick is ugly af. Could have been saved if she was hotter
what's TND?
Tie 'Nother Day
Total Black person death
The Next Debu
Tomorrow Never Diet
Totally Nice Day
Noticed that Brosnans Bond is always getting choked

second to Goldfinger, but still an excellent choice. I disagree but you have earned my respect

I also like view to a kill coz of Christopher Walken and Duran Duran but I know it sucks
Ok nevermind you have now lost my respect
then again I'm rewatching Quantum of Solace and it's much better than everyone seems to say it is. don't understand the hate

I thought the opening was great. It's ending theme and Jake Wade that are the worst parts of film

Rewatched the Brosnans and was surprised that I find Tomorrow Never Dies the best one of his era.
They're easily all shit but that bit with the submersibles and dudes fighting in SCUBA gear with harpoon guns n' shit was some sincerely KINO shit.

License To Kill or Live And Let Die, maybe.
