in tv? probably the big guy from the mist. cant remember anything else, just weird four legged creatures with grey skin used to for jumpscares.
Annihilation
a good contender also the fleas coming off the cloverfield monster were neato
This had some good designs but not the best of executions. As far as designs go though I can't top it.
Pretty much, too bad the movie felt extremely rushed and it had the typical problem with badly written movies in which the characters get into dangerous situations solely for their own stupidity.
>in which the characters get into dangerous situations solely for their own stupidity.
The movie flat out tells the audience the characters only seem to act stupidly because they are all suicidal in their own ways and chose to "self-destruct" in the shimmer. Great film to filter sub 100 iq morons

The screaming bear.
The mimic also is absolutely terrifying on an existential level.
What is this from?
Not OP but I think The Ritual
Thanks
The Ritual on Netflix
Is it worth watching even though these pictures already spoiled it?
Yes. Although I have to admit that you'll never have the experience people had going into it totally blind.
still pretty good
the entire movie is a build up to maybe not even 10 minutes worth of actual content, most of which is seeing the creature
It's all allegorical for how the main character deals with events that happened to him in real life. It's a pretty good movie, and it's not a typical "monster in the woods" movie. Watch it with the intent to see what story the director is trying to tell.
It's not as deep as I'm making it sound, but it is slightly more deep than most netflix "creepy thing that you see for a few minutes at the the end of the movie" flicks.
The whole movie leads up to that so keep your expectations in check since you've already seen the payoff
no. four whiny british man-children go on a final boy's-night-out-slash-gaycation because one of them pussed out during a robbery at a convenience store and friend #5 got killed.
yes, it's good
first half is pretty basic "guys in the woods hearing spooky noises" and then it gets very weird
You write like a twelve year old.
penis heheh
its good and it doesn't have any woke bullshit, all male characters

A mockery of nature.
Is it good?
why even ask? half the people will say yes, half will say omg it's the dumbest thing ever in the whole entire world.
either watch it or don't. just frick off already.
yes but noticeably low budget and 'jerky'
Yes. As far as limited cast stuff goes, it looks amazing for whatever they spent on it (when do movies LOOK their budget nowadays?). Story and dialog are kind of cliche at times, but the monster is original and scary and quite well developed yet not overexposed.
>monster is original
It's essentially like the alien from The Thing but with the spikes gimmick.
no it's shit. some tard is reposting this thread and some (other) tard is shilling splinter.
>Shea Whigham
Yup I'm watching it tonight.
Absolute kino
The only horror movie I actually liked. Recommend me something like Ritual, please.

Live action Evangelion
Reminder he ripped off anSPC for this
Which one?
https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-312
>floating jellyfish-like organism made of thin tissue layers
>capable of creating clouds to hide itself
>eats things by sucking them up in a narrow vortex
>will attack anything that makes direct eye contact with it
>later spits out whatever it can't eat
So?
He didn't credit it in any way hence he ripped it off.
scps aren't original ideas anyway
yeah, try explaining that to judge boio
>https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-312
Oh wow, that's crazy. Even down to the cloud camo. I still think the movie is very well done but that definitely knocks a point off its creativeness.
it's a monster movie he ripped the monster from another source wholesale, and I hope he gets sued.
what's an SPC?
schizo production company
Shark Punching Centre.
Nothing he ever does is an original idea
Yeah that was genuinely great design
Good picks
i love this lil homie
what's this from? looks like something from Del Toro or silent hill
Frankenstein’s Army. It’s a cheesy action horror film with good costume design
>Frankenstein’s Army
thx, never heard of this. movie premise reminds me of (what i heard about) Overlord, neat that there's another like it
it has some pretty fun designs which gets hilariously underutilized and the movie is not good
wtf resident evil village straight up copied this design into the Propellerhead boss, lmao. had no idea this existed, now i gotta watch this
Just keep your expectations in check. The designs are really cool, but the movie itself isn't great. What drove me nuts is the way all the creatures act like they are actors in a haunted house attraction - like they just get up in front of the camera and wave their hands around not ever actually putting the protag in any danger
Re7 was full of horror movie references so it makes sense 8 did the same thing. Heisenberg was a Dr. Frankenstein expy so i guess it’s kind of nice to see the root and that they even referenced a more modern production.
>resident evil village straight up copied this design into the Propellerhead boss
Yeah, it was so blatant the director sued Capcom for it too.
The Heisenberg factory segment of RE8 takes so much from that movie that it can practically be considered a homage.
And he got super buthurt about it as if he didn't rip off capcoms own megaman to make it to begin with
Me and my buddies quite enjoyed this stoned in High School one of the few good memories I have
>Europeans when they see a big moose
After reading Gantz, it was cool to see this show up
Was this a short or a film? It reminds me of a short I watched that I think Blomkamp did
yes zygote by blomkamps oats studios
Just saw the filename, was a really cool short, would like to see a full length space horror/alien knock-off from him, then again cheap alien-rip offs are one of my favorite types of movies
i can still hear its screams
These chapters with bubbles are the best of gantz. Shame it took so long to get a good chapter again, and then surely after turned to shit again.
Frick, the Oats shorts were really good.

Hellboy 1 and 2 had some great monsters. The color out of space and the thing both have good disfigured chimera shit. OP design is amazing btw, watched movie just for that and was not disappointed. Keep meaning to rewatch it to figure out the cult better but it was actually kind of depressing.
Here's my take:
Valhalla takes the brave while the Jötunn, in its limited domain, takes the cowards. The cult is a perversion of Valhalla where the faithful are granted an eternal "life" of kneeling in fear and submission before their god. Personally, I think you can either read the "Upper Room" scene as the Jötunn mocking Christianity or the writer himself doing so by contrasting the pagan belief that by living a life of valor, the gods honor your courage; whereas Christianity rewards your godfearing ways in an afterlife singing praises. That's how I interpret the room of undead chanters - the Jötunn's "Heavenly Choir."
Very interesting take, ty for your thoughts. I agree, from an outside perspective Christianity looks pretty bizarre. I don't know why I didn't relate it to an actual afterlife. I need to rewatch because I know I missed a lot given I didnt expect what it was but instead a generic monster movie. It did seem to me as a sort of purgatory he passed through though, so the rest tracks.
The way it moves and acts is completely bug/robot like. The Thing has unpredictable motivations, but it is obviously sentient. I think lots is different and it doesn't seem to be any sort of homage or anything. I'm a huge fan of The Thing and I didn't even make that connection. They do have similarities, but the atmosphere is so different.
No no no no. You're supposed to start a thread by going
>what's the best [insert thing related to the board here] and why is it [pic related]?
Just give up westies
whats this lad
Shin Godzilla
Gorilla isn't a design from the last 20 years ffs
Shin Godzilla is a design from 2016, which is within 20 years. Shin is also one of the most radically different Godzillas from any of the previous incarnations in terms of design.
Why do you reply to idiots?
i just wanted an excuse to post Kamata-kun
I thought Antlers had a interesting and original take on the wendigo
I liked it better before the reveal.
oopsy face fell off
We’re taking movies not real life
This movie bugs me. It's so artistically well created but the plot is moronic(assuming it is the movie I think it is).
Korean film, The Wailing.
I could beat up that skinny fgt
Blacks are scary, but not new
>obama
The behemoth in mist towards the end. After in period of unimaginable horror the character stand in awe and realize that despite everything they havent even seen a glimps of the true terror lurking in the mist
some gigantic elephant creature that doesn't care about you is a lot less scary than a human sized one that can eat you
maybe not the best monster design, but seeing this homie peaking around the corner like in Covenant made me shit bricks.
fricking hate greys and I'm still pissed they included them in the movie without any warning
What is this?
yep
Slattern and overall Pacific Rim monsters were pretty memorable.
that thing was overpowered as frick but it was definitely memorable
I just laugh at it's name
>biggest and most dangerous kaiju yet revealed
>name means promiscuous teenage girl
IIRC, I think someone in-universe calls it that because it reminded him of his ex.
Meh
this dude and the movie overall were sick, one of the few times where a movie was made for the bros
Nah. just Slattern and Otachi
is this from the wolfman with benicio del toro?
Van Helsing.
this shit was clearly designed by gay furries
you can tell by the size of his lats alone, he just looks too cuddly

I'm all for tentacle rape but is this a real movie or just an excuse for porno?
No, it's a real movie. The creature has little screen time unfortunately.
Well, by no means tell us what movie or anything.

Filename says "spoiler image" is that the movie's name?
It's Possession.
Ty
ur a double moron
That is absolutely not Possession

ur a moron

unironically, why should it matter? Film is art, it;s human expression, if someone wants there to be some weird kind shit in their expression, fine. What pisses me off is it's only valid if it's for WOMEN. The Shape of Water, Twilight, 50 shades etc all received praise of some kind but god forbid some man make a monster girl movie.
it's immensely boring.
>it's immensely boring.
probably because the director had to try and even it out so people wouldnt be upset hes making his tentacle porno movie with them. When you try and please everyone, you end up pleasing no one.
The spicmutt is scarier than the tentacle monster.
I wish I could find tentacle porn with this sort of quality.
homie what the frick
Are the little arms just for masturbatory purposes?
This thing is okay but Bad Robot's designs have gotten so samey after this.
this shit wasnt even in the book, there was only some slime that uses fungus to write words and some weird ass dolphin humans
Who fricking cares? its a movie not a book, an adaptation taking liberties, something movies have been doing for nearly 100 years.
it was very good.
also a good instance of audio design playing a huge part.
Cart Titan
Not an original design but all the different trolls from Troll Hunter were great.
Fantastic movie. Very fun.
I can give you the absolute worst one
Tatane has 2 hours of buildup to what kind of weird, deformed, disgusting baby is going to drive out of her oil leaking vegana and it just turns out to be this
Most disappointing reveal I have ever seen
the fricking art snob post-modernist morons pumped this shit up so goddamn much "OPOHHOI!!!! A Different THingy!!! I Love IT So YOuNeeK and OrigiNall!!!!!!;oahseg;okuwarehgp;ioa3WEURHG[AWOERIUHG " fricking anoying.
Good alien designs?
Movie? And if the answer is "The Europa Report" is it worth watching?
Europa report, 95% of the movie is boring unfortunately
If you like found footage it's worth a watch
>is "The Europa Report" worth watching
No
Battlefield LA has some original shit that feels alien
yeah i really liked them and even their motivation which is only hinted at. Way too good for that movie.
that movie is the unofficial Metal Slug movie lel.
too bad the movie was fricking terrible
That movie was supposed to spawn a franchise so the lore had some thought put into it. But the movie itself was dogshit so it didn't take off. I think the same thing happened to Pacific Rim.
I liked the alien in Nope, that was probably the coolest part of the movie.
me
do you think its got a bussy on the top of hits head?
Too bad the rest of the movie was shit
i liked the movie
its in the same vibe as its fallows and the like
Dunno lol
I really liked the MUTOs
A thought having a sexual dimorphic insect like kaiju with each gender was creative
Me too.
What is the monster? Is there a better view of it?
It just looks like a bear-frog-deer.
What does it do? It doesn't seem particularly scary or threatening.
it's supposed by a Jötunn and child of Loki.
it forces people she deems worthy to worship her and she kills the others.
personally i like this take on mythological creature.
>autist sees a monster
>what does it do?
you can not make this shit up lmao
I was asking if it had any kind of special or supernatural abilities. If it's just a mutant deer thing that's not very interesting.
>It doesn't seem particularly scary
Here's your (You), you clown
Appearance wise it just looks like a zombie deer with a couple extra legs. It's ugly but not really scary.
Said the guy that never even spent a night in the woods
I'm not saying it isn't spooky in the context of the movie. I'm just saying that the creature design by itself is not that spooky or interesting imo. It's like old Greek shit where they just mashed two or three ordinary animals together.
It forces people to worship it granting them eternal life in return. Should they refuse it crucifies them on nearby trees. Power-wise it's got some sort of illusion thing too.
it transforms into an attack helicopter
Well apart from being 29 feet tall and kinda strong and fairly well camouflaged, it makes you hallucinate vividly with god-psychic powers and then grabs you and impales you on a tree while you are hallucinating if you fail to worship it and pledge obedience (for which it grants you eternal life, although not youth, and it seems fickle about who it chooses)
So you become an undead?
i hate to say it and its really not their fault but this screams tryhard. the horror genre is absolutely exhausted
She cute
leviathan from Hellraiser
None of these are as scary as whatever the frick this fricking thing was.
is that Tony Hawk
That was the exact fricking comment one of my friends made when we were watching this in group and it completely killed the movie.
We were so amped to see the new highly talked horror movie that we pretty much deluded ourselves into taking the movie seriously, despite finding it somewhat boring.
Then Tony Hawk show up and that's it. Movie is done. The rest of the movie is just us laughing and making comments like Tony is going to do a back-flip and so on.
this movie wasn't scary at all and my parents never forgave for putting it on
lmao how the frick is this scary
You have to understand the context.
>You need to watch my 4 hour video essay on why no protecting women's rights to unprotected sex is the greatest horror of all
This movie has convinced me that Disney should retain the rights to their IP for a million years.
Pooh is not their IP.
b- brehs
It's male.
>ALL HAIL RATTMA!
garbage movie with 2 minutes of monster fun
Sorry you got filtered

When the frick did Mitch McConnell cameo in a movie?
I'll do you one better
Spoiler that shit bro almost jumpscared me out of my chair
does she have that alcohol fetal syndrome shit or something? Her face looks so weird
Some people are just ugly, you moron
Thats just disgusting
I remember watching SG Atlantis for the first time as a kid and these guys scared the shit out of me
>Not for nothin', T.
I know it's technically an old design, but I'd still like to nominate it
Well if that counts then I'm going to say Rocksteady and Bebop from that otherwise abominable Turtles movie
>last twenty years
easy
How does he still look so fricking good
That emaciated little 'girl' at the end of [REC]. Holy shit.
I don't know what that is
But I wanna frick it.

Is that Monster Hunter?
Mandalorian Season 2
The 80s was the goldmine of monster design, even the b-movies shined
>The Deadly Spawn
>Humanoids from the Deep
>Forbidden World

Practical effects>>>>CGI
also, the hats and the terrain is ripped straight from the SCP as well
he just took it and added blacks and a generic story
absolute hack
The Babadood
It's funny that in the pic he looks like some goth band member, but the movie still manages to be creepy. Good thing they show him only for few seconds.
That's literal shit. Are you a fricking idiot?
Fricking hate the Eldrazi. Wonder if this guy had an influence on their design.
Cloverfield but then everyone started copying it
I'm gonna go with whatever that one is.

God, I wish his movie wasn't shit. The old stuff with him is kino
he was FNAF'd before getting FNAF'd was a thing
Wave planet from Interstellar, for its simplicity. They basically said how big does a wave need to be to be terrifying; now double it
This is a good "outside the box" answer. Those waves do give me a primal instinctual feeling of terror.
The monsters in Bird Box
