yes, you have to put in some effort. i can still find new music from all eras that i otherwise probably never would have found. turning off as many tracking and convenience settings as possible makes reccommended/suggestions more random. lots of garbage to sift through, but every now and then, I find something really good.

I think the whole Caitlyn Jenner thing did it for me. I remember being with a bunch of people and the topic came up and I was like “more power to him, but the goofy thing is how they’re trying to give him the bravest person in the world award or whatever, I mean really?” That was it. I didn’t have a problem with the guy transitioning, but everyone else’s reaction to it was absurd to me. “Man chops off penis…Declared a Saint.” But that was it, you would have thought I was saying I wanted a baby skin jacket.

          Anonymous

Thor was pretty good. I guess I just didn't care for Natalie Portman's character in it. It felt like she kind of dragged the movie down. Maybe I need to rewatch it.
I liked the characters in Iron Man and how the story played out. It had that moral dilemna of weapons existing, and questioning whether you really are the 'good guy' in the situation. He had that moment of truth when captured and then realized his mistake, tried to fix everything. And then by creating a new 'weapon' (the suit), the entire situation repeated again. It was just interesting to me and I liked how Tony Stark developed throughout the movie.

I was never "it". Even growing up in the 80s and 90s i was never "it" or liked "it". I was raised on a healthy dose of scorcese, friedkin, leone, ford, carpenter, peckinpah and millius. By the time i saw movies that were "it" at the time i had already seen The Terminator, First Blood(even tho i didn't understand it), Excalibur, Flesh + Blood just to name a few. I didn't hate "it" movies, i just knew(even back then when i was like 12 or 13) they weren't for me and i was okay with that. But the world seems to spend every moment trying to convince me that i am wrong for not liking "it" movies and that's whats pissing me off.

2013/2014. MCU was getting huge and dominating theatres so every other franchise was trying to get on the shared universe trend. Video games on the AAA side had become infested with open world and DLC and smaller games were full of crafting/survival crap after the popularity of Minecraft. Even on the internet/youtube side it felt like social media stuff wasn't so prevalent until this time and with it came the associated drama and politics.

Nah- when they tell me to download anything in order to place an order, I either just force my way through to the operator/store, or just drive there myself. By the time I download their data collecting virus software, I could have ordered the food and been there to pick it up. There's no reason to hestitate to order an order unless they can't understand english well, in which I usually just drive there myself anyway to ensure the order is correctly placed.

is this board all old people or what? it seems like every thread is about aging, fear of aging, and just general malaise about being old.
Is Cinemaphile the oldest board on chan? You guys sound like whiny b***hes.

Yes, this board is all old people because no-one in their right mind would have come here for the first time and stuck around after circa 2014.
Most of us came here when it was fun and now we're just coming here out of habit.

Internet makes culture move faster, so people age out of what kids are into faster. Leaves a lot of people in their mid-late 20s feeling nostalgic for what was only a few years ago.
It's why 'generations' as a concept basically don't work anymore. An early zoomer and a late zoomer live in completely different realities.

I'm not sure. There are some 40 and 50 year old posters out there. I think most posters on this site are in their young to mid 20s. I'm older than that. The "you are here forever" really holds true for most of us.
No fear of aging here, just talking about it. I like don't mind getting older, except for my metabolism getting worse. I don't think anyones whinning either, just us talking about getting older and reflecting about stuff.

Honestly, this. I'm 31 and I still feel somewhat in the know. No, I don't know every social media star with a vague semblance of fame, but no one does. But I still know all the big names, the big music, the big movies, etc. It's really not that hard to stay somewhat with the times. Even my fricking 65 year old mother knows who Olivia Rodrigo is

I was at a music festival and two zoomer girls in line behind me asked me about my jacket. We start talking and half the shit these girls say makes no sense at all. They'd just mumble random strings of words here and there and quietly laugh to themselves. I finally asked them explain themselves and they mumbled something about it all being tiktok memes.

You should have responded with Cinemaphile memes.

When I was in high school and everyone started loving dindu shit. I'm 30 now and all the zoom zooms are listening to music that I listened to when I was their age back when it was considered hipster shit so I'm feeling pretty alright.

I am 35 and it NEVER happened. The only thing that changed were the zoomers who massively became tranners and morons. I can understand them, but I would just rather not to. I could also understand others of my age, and even to them I said goodbye. In favor of traditionalism. So trying to live like 3 gens back.

Millennials and Zoomers are gayer and less talented than Gen X and Boomers. Simple as. Youth counterculture used to be cooler than their elders, but now The Rolling Stones are in their 90s and still touring because there are literally no rock bands left. Modern youth culture is to produce nothing of value and complain.

when vine and TikTok started becoming popular

I couldn't keep up with that homosexual shit so I remained blissfully ignorant

Vine and Tik Tok are completely different things.
Vine at least pretended to have original content. It was short comedy bits, jokes or animals being goofy. Obviously due to the low barrier of entry it was filled with trash but there's also some good stuff that came from it. Mostly it was done for fun in good faith.
I'm sure if you go on youtube and watch some vine compilations you might get a chuckle here and there.
Tik Tok is just unapologetically taking a joke and retelling it in an inferior manner just so you can get some of the clout too. Or worse it's just some fat b***h telling you what you should think.

Your description of tiktok is exactly what vine was you moron lmao everything you’ve written as a positive about vine could also be found on tiktok. There’s diamonds in every pile of shit, but you’re still digging in piles of shit. Take the rose tinted wiener out of your ass.

When people stopped using webforums and started using discord. I still don’t into discord, and it sucks because it seems like more and more stuff gets siloed off into it. Used to be you could just search forums or personal webpages, blogs etc about a hobby or what have you, but these days you run into a lot of “check the discord”, “guide on disc”, “tips on the channel” and bla bla bla. It sucks honestly. If you’ve ever tried to find something on google and got nothing but useless Pinterest links as a result, that’s what it feels like.
