When youtube became the new TV, I didn't make the transition, i'm lost to time now I can't understand anything
The quality of content on Youtube just seems so ridiculously bad even compared to traditional television shows. I never made the jump either.
You need to seek out your entertainment, if not you will only see the dog shit the algorithm gives you.
yes, you have to put in some effort. i can still find new music from all eras that i otherwise probably never would have found. turning off as many tracking and convenience settings as possible makes reccommended/suggestions more random. lots of garbage to sift through, but every now and then, I find something really good.
>Twitch
I said frick it and took the plunge, it's just a really boring website. highlights/compilations are what you want if you can even stand any of their personalities.
>I said frick it and took the plunge, it's just a really boring website
It should be used as background noise
yeah, it works better that way. but after a while, it starts to feel gay, like, I'm letting a man voice his thoughts into my ears? shit is fricking gay as frick.
also feels like being a boomer who constantly has the news on in the background 24/7.
Yup, I don’t understand it at all
Undertale
I think around 2013 or so.
Good post.
Agreed
This is a big one. I remember the first time I watched a tiktok (I think in 2016? 2017? around there) and saw them over-emoting everything and laughed because I thought they were purposely trying to act as moronic as possible as a comedy bit. Then I found out they were serious and that other people take it seriously.
Vtubers
I could probably still be with it
But everything is just so shit and degen I don't want to have any part of it
Games, media, tv has all gone moronic
i was never with it
Yeah same
Not sure but all I know is some 20 year old cutie and I were talking and the zoomer bonics coming out of her mouth was annoying.
sometime last decade, probably around 2014.
If it werent for homosexual commie israelite takeover this wouldnt have happened
stop being russophobic.
No one is buying the Russians are israeli angle fyi
Except for russians.
it's more the other way around + nice damage control try
Twitch. Never used it and wouldn’t know how. Same with tiktok
>wouldn’t know how
you think you wouldn't be able to figure out a website?
I refuse
I tried but it refused to show me anything unless I made an account.
>tiktok
I still don't know what it is and why it is popular
is it like a dailymotion but chink?
I only go to twitch when someone in my lobby has a ttv name and I want to check the vod to see myself dunking on them from their point of view and see them seethe.
Probably when Avatar came out. It became an overnight phenomenon. I love(d) Cameron but the execution was dull as hell and I felt that the CGI wasn't there, not for that level of production still. After that it was a really nasty downhill spiral of this putrid CGI shit we have today.
tiktok
Tiktok.Small videos are anything new, but in Vine people used to make actual content. Now its just people dancing like morons, its so weird to see it. I have no idea how it became so prevalent in society without thinking that were all colectively dumber.
People were obsessed with movie musicals and theatrical shows that did giant, elaborate and flashy dance scenes 100 years ago. Ziegfeld follies, look it up. Dance videos are just new form of it in social media age
>Vine people used to make actual content
no, vine was pic related with a loud noise cut off when the video ended
>45x40
It's the algorithmic auto feed, unironically
People are lazy as shit and that laziness is the root of their stupidity and hedonism
Anyone with a brain realises that youth "trends" are moronic, vapid garbage even at the age they're meant to be supposedly indulging at them.
Similarly, anyone with a brain doesn't say moronic shit like "LMAO THESE ZOOMERS ARE SO WEIRD!!!!" without a shred of irony, as if somehow thinking they're the exception and not doing the exact same thing the previous generation did. How does anyone life without that lack of self-awareness?
You’re posting on Cinemaphile, bruh
The moment I felt like 'kids these days' was when I saw/heard the term 'pog' being used all over the internet. I felt like it was just a made up term, and the explanstions of its meaning made no sense to me.
Tik Tok dances.
>TikTok dances
>FRFR no cap
>Zoomer perms
>born 1993
Five Nights At Freddie's and the explosion of similar related works. Weird, because I'd been into the SCP Foundation and Slender Man horror stuff when those first came out, and the zoomer wave isn't that different in substance.
Never
Because I was never "with it" to begin with
Flossing
When I was a kid we weren't obsessed with gayass dances from a videogame
"flossing" used to be an entirely different dance move
Around 2015, although it was more a case of realising mainstream popular culture is was way to make money from children, teenagers and >100 iq normies and just lost interest.
Right around the time when capeshit became popular.
I still haven't seen an Avengers movie and I don't think I ever will.
Mid 2010s I'd guess
Somewhere around 2016 when politics became "it".
When zoomers starting saying no cap frfr on god and watching tiktok
>t. 1999 millenial
you are firmly a zoomer fricking moron, millenial cutoff is '96
Why is slang so hard for many millennials to understand. We basically invented verbal acronyms.
no we didn't
millennials have just got so much shit for the last decade they are desperate to pass on the torch now
>>t. 1999 millenial
kek I'm a 98 zoomer, cope
>1999 millenial
excuse me what the frick do you think you're doing
Ah yes, greetings fellow millennial. Haha, these zoom zooms, amirite?
I'm old enough that I have literally never seen that sort of language outside of shit posts on here
>1999 millenial
>larping to be in a slightly less but still very cucked/moronic generation
You're a zillennial. Millennials remember 9/11.
92-99 aren't truly millennials or zoomers yet. They're in between, since they remember the pre-iPhone world.
>92-99 aren't truly millennials or zoomers yet.
No, they're Millennials. Self-hating Millennials love to keep changing dates around all the time just to exclude younger Millennials, but they're still part of the generation.
2013
trap music, TikTok and woke media
if those things had existed back when you were a teenager most of us still would have hated them.
we've always been bitter c**ts who hate things that are popular with normies.
you didn't listen to R'n'B and have a myspace account.
>tfw 30 and still with it
>can talk to anyone about anything
>I'm up to date on everything
>tiktok, twitch, music, youtube the latest trends and fads the drama everything
How do I get with it anon?
Get paid for it.
It's my job.
congratulations, you still have the mentality of a child
What's the benefit of being an old cranky geezer?
what's the benefit of watching sludge content on Tik Tok?
How many hours a day do you browse Cinemaphile?
how many hours a day do you browse reddit?
25+ in both cases
I don't browse reddit.
Reddit is not for entertainment or passing the time. I only end up there when I google a technical issue I have or if I want to see some various opinions on technology I'm thinking about buying.
I think the whole Caitlyn Jenner thing did it for me. I remember being with a bunch of people and the topic came up and I was like “more power to him, but the goofy thing is how they’re trying to give him the bravest person in the world award or whatever, I mean really?” That was it. I didn’t have a problem with the guy transitioning, but everyone else’s reaction to it was absurd to me. “Man chops off penis…Declared a Saint.” But that was it, you would have thought I was saying I wanted a baby skin jacket.
nah, u r fricked up for even thinking what Bruce did to himself was okay on any level
"Caitlyn Jenner is a hero. She is stunning and brave."
You are not missing anything. Of the 10 or so Avenger movies I've seen- Iron Man is still the only one I'd ever recommend.
Why would you recommend Iron Man?
Thor has some interesting brotherly dynamics between the protagonist and antagonist and remains the only MCU film I like.
Thor was pretty good. I guess I just didn't care for Natalie Portman's character in it. It felt like she kind of dragged the movie down. Maybe I need to rewatch it.
I liked the characters in Iron Man and how the story played out. It had that moral dilemna of weapons existing, and questioning whether you really are the 'good guy' in the situation. He had that moment of truth when captured and then realized his mistake, tried to fix everything. And then by creating a new 'weapon' (the suit), the entire situation repeated again. It was just interesting to me and I liked how Tony Stark developed throughout the movie.
I was never "it". Even growing up in the 80s and 90s i was never "it" or liked "it". I was raised on a healthy dose of scorcese, friedkin, leone, ford, carpenter, peckinpah and millius. By the time i saw movies that were "it" at the time i had already seen The Terminator, First Blood(even tho i didn't understand it), Excalibur, Flesh + Blood just to name a few. I didn't hate "it" movies, i just knew(even back then when i was like 12 or 13) they weren't for me and i was okay with that. But the world seems to spend every moment trying to convince me that i am wrong for not liking "it" movies and that's whats pissing me off.
When I was in high school my teacher told me "you are too much of an elitist when it comes to your test and you will end up an outcast because of this".
So far he was right.
Stills better than being a pleb.
>CAN I HAZ CHEEZBURGER
>PUDDI PUDDI
>We are anonymous, we are legion
>Boxxy is the queen of /b/
PUDDI PUDDI PUDDI PUDDI PUDDI PUDDI
I will never see the appeal of that era of Cinemaphile
yeah you do, you're currently using Cinemaphile
That's because ~~*they*~~ made sure that it never happens again. We actually stood up and fired up our lazers and took on scientology and wall st. Was a different time. Now the place is castrated.
"we"
Except the IOTBW campaign was a hundred times more impactful then when glowies used Cinemaphile to go after sciencetogly (how did going after sciencetolgy improve any normal anon's life?)
>election tourists try to talk about old Cinemaphile
You don't have to call yourself an election tourist we already know, how about you just lurk for a few more years k fren?
Kek see how easily they flare up. Truly a lesser specimen.
you homosexual were posting pictures of chopped up anime girls in suitcases and child porn before zion don put you on the map.
In pre 2006 Cinemaphile I'd estimate a lot of users were actually underage, even the pedos. It would explain how everyone seemed a lot less intelligent at the time.
I don't get people who got stuck on /misc/ era Cinemaphile after /misc/ fell out of style.
When "influencers" and e-celebs became a major thing. All the celebs that zooms talk about are just literal whos to me.
I haven't been "with it" since elementary school, so around 2005.
Tiktok, missed the boat on this and now feel the gulf widening every day (Im fine with it)
99, i was out of the loop by like 10-12. the only trend i ever enjoyed was watching vine compilations on youtube. never followed fashion, popular games and movies, i was always late to pop culture shit by like 6 months to a year. simply never gave a frick and everybody around me was a moron anyway so why inundate myself with learning this shit just to fit in, i was never going to fit in
Just liking vine makes you a zoomer because tiktok is the biggest zoomer thing.
When chopping your wiener off became acceptable medical practice for confused and brainwashed teenagers. Oh and dubstep.
I was never with it, and as a result I've never felt more with it.
I still wear a face mask every where I go, whereas 99% have stopped wearing it.
I was never with it
when I turned 12 years old.
2013/2014. MCU was getting huge and dominating theatres so every other franchise was trying to get on the shared universe trend. Video games on the AAA side had become infested with open world and DLC and smaller games were full of crafting/survival crap after the popularity of Minecraft. Even on the internet/youtube side it felt like social media stuff wasn't so prevalent until this time and with it came the associated drama and politics.
Reading this makes me realize that we haven't advanced in a decade. Shared universes/multiverses are more popular than ever, Minecraft is still huge, and social media drama is still around obviously. The only thing that's changed is the advent of TikTok, but even that's a slightly modified Vine
14 years ago
When Tommyinnit, Callmecarson, and Schlatt became popular.
t.19 year old
>Born in 2004
God i hate you
It's okay that you're old anon.
I'll still be your friend.
t.19 year old
>tfw you'll never befriend a relic from the 20th century and hear all about how life was like when you had to use "diallop internet" and call the pizza place to order pizza
I've never used dial up but I have ordered a pizza over the phone.
>and call the pizza place to order pizza
What? Do people not call the resturaunts to place orders anymore?
And I'm glad diallup internet is gone. It is much better now. Only being able to use your phone or the internet was pretty annoying.
>he doesn't utilize the convenience of pressing a couple buttons on an app to place an order so you don't have to mentally prepare yourself for 10 minutes to call the place and still frick up your rehearsed order placing dialogue
fricking normie...
Ok snowflake
>And I'm glad diallup internet is gone.
It's loss is a big part of why the Internet went to shit that and easy networking. The barriers fell and the zombie hordes have overrun the kool kids klub
Back in my day it took several minutes to load a color pic of vegeta as a super saiyan to print out and hang on my wall
youre literally the same age as tommyinnit
Around 2015, when I left both Facebook and Twitter and never bothered migrating to shit like Instagram or anything else because I don't like being documented and people who regularly document their life for a corporation are gaytarded.
>t. 33 year old boomer
Jazz
The doge meme.
It's just a cute cheeky looking dog. Let it go.
The "heck'n chuckerino doggo" memes? Most are pretty weird. I do like the dumb ones like pic related.
Nah- when they tell me to download anything in order to place an order, I either just force my way through to the operator/store, or just drive there myself. By the time I download their data collecting virus software, I could have ordered the food and been there to pick it up. There's no reason to hestitate to order an order unless they can't understand english well, in which I usually just drive there myself anyway to ensure the order is correctly placed.
Damn forgot the pic (as if anyone needed to see it)
I think the 'you willl never be a woman' or any transexual comments are bots half the time. They'll respond to posts with it that don't make any sense in any context.
they got rid of what it was, now it is defined by 50 something single women executives
when the random Ukranian refugees my company took on in the last few months were strikingly younger and slimmer than me
When bullies stopped calling you a girl and instead started saying you'll never be a woman. I'll never understand that shit.
nerds and sissies took being called a girl to heart and thought it was the truth, now they must be corrected
is this board all old people or what? it seems like every thread is about aging, fear of aging, and just general malaise about being old.
Is Cinemaphile the oldest board on chan? You guys sound like whiny b***hes.
Yes, this board is all old people because no-one in their right mind would have come here for the first time and stuck around after circa 2014.
Most of us came here when it was fun and now we're just coming here out of habit.
Internet makes culture move faster, so people age out of what kids are into faster. Leaves a lot of people in their mid-late 20s feeling nostalgic for what was only a few years ago.
It's why 'generations' as a concept basically don't work anymore. An early zoomer and a late zoomer live in completely different realities.
tv is for old people now so it makes sense
I'm not sure. There are some 40 and 50 year old posters out there. I think most posters on this site are in their young to mid 20s. I'm older than that. The "you are here forever" really holds true for most of us.
No fear of aging here, just talking about it. I like don't mind getting older, except for my metabolism getting worse. I don't think anyones whinning either, just us talking about getting older and reflecting about stuff.
*slowly rocks over with my zimmerframe determined to give you a piece of my mind*
Honestly, this. I'm 31 and I still feel somewhat in the know. No, I don't know every social media star with a vague semblance of fame, but no one does. But I still know all the big names, the big music, the big movies, etc. It's really not that hard to stay somewhat with the times. Even my fricking 65 year old mother knows who Olivia Rodrigo is
When manosphere became a thing
>MAGA MAGA MAGA yeah!
>redpill dating coaches
>enjoy the decline
>get a tradwife from Philippines or Thailand
>become traditional and masculine
I just got lost there
I was at a music festival and two zoomer girls in line behind me asked me about my jacket. We start talking and half the shit these girls say makes no sense at all. They'd just mumble random strings of words here and there and quietly laugh to themselves. I finally asked them explain themselves and they mumbled something about it all being tiktok memes.
You should have responded with Cinemaphile memes.
what even passes for a Cinemaphile meme now. i guess i could have told them "you will never be a woman" or explained how i am nearly identical in demeanor and appearance to ryan gosling
Quote whatever they said and make a wojak face.
Didn't happen. Cool story though
everything after that civil war super hero film, everything just feels the same and i dont even care about the lore anymore - im 38 and all i watch is documentaries and drama/thrillers - action seems so trite and boring to me
When I was 10.
2016 with mumble rap. I wonder what the mumble rap kids got "it"ted to.
Hi, snoop!
When I was in high school and everyone started loving dindu shit. I'm 30 now and all the zoom zooms are listening to music that I listened to when I was their age back when it was considered hipster shit so I'm feeling pretty alright.
Holland Spider Man.
I am 35 and it NEVER happened. The only thing that changed were the zoomers who massively became tranners and morons. I can understand them, but I would just rather not to. I could also understand others of my age, and even to them I said goodbye. In favor of traditionalism. So trying to live like 3 gens back.
'88 here
I'm about to turn 35 real soon and this never happened to me because I wasn't ever even with it to begin with
Tiktok and big pants
>and big pants
huh? if you mean wearing baggy clothes that was popular 20 years ago
Normies have always been moronic regardless of the generation.
Ok snowflake
Millennials and Zoomers are gayer and less talented than Gen X and Boomers. Simple as. Youth counterculture used to be cooler than their elders, but now The Rolling Stones are in their 90s and still touring because there are literally no rock bands left. Modern youth culture is to produce nothing of value and complain.
some time around 2013, probably 2015 at the max. But that had more to do with the world becoming disgusting than me getting old
Filthy Frank so I'm enjoying seeing iDubbz suffer
dont remember but I've been spending the last decade or so convincing boys they're actually girls in preperation for being sent off the various elite paedo islands
>boys
Autists (the only creatures that fall for troonyism) aren't men.
normie
which time, its happened several times already, its a cycle where you get even more out of touch and old with each cycle
The broccoli hair cut
Tho my mom and aunt were young in the 80s so I conceptually understood the appeal of perms
when vine and TikTok started becoming popular
I couldn't keep up with that homosexual shit so I remained blissfully ignorant
Vine and Tik Tok are completely different things.
Vine at least pretended to have original content. It was short comedy bits, jokes or animals being goofy. Obviously due to the low barrier of entry it was filled with trash but there's also some good stuff that came from it. Mostly it was done for fun in good faith.
I'm sure if you go on youtube and watch some vine compilations you might get a chuckle here and there.
Tik Tok is just unapologetically taking a joke and retelling it in an inferior manner just so you can get some of the clout too. Or worse it's just some fat b***h telling you what you should think.
For me, Tiktok is a torture channel of women slicing their breasts off and women and the lowest of simps defending her for it.
realfrogg fan?
Yes but I've seen it happen to others prior.
Your description of tiktok is exactly what vine was you moron lmao everything you’ve written as a positive about vine could also be found on tiktok. There’s diamonds in every pile of shit, but you’re still digging in piles of shit. Take the rose tinted wiener out of your ass.
Yeah when I played tag in school.
Here's a tip for zoomers: you know that you are old when you don't know what the kids are doing these days, and just don't care.
I guess I'm old
When people stopped using webforums and started using discord. I still don’t into discord, and it sucks because it seems like more and more stuff gets siloed off into it. Used to be you could just search forums or personal webpages, blogs etc about a hobby or what have you, but these days you run into a lot of “check the discord”, “guide on disc”, “tips on the channel” and bla bla bla. It sucks honestly. If you’ve ever tried to find something on google and got nothing but useless Pinterest links as a result, that’s what it feels like.
When people started unironically speaking about pewdiepie in anything other than a negative manner online is when it happened
When slimenalils replaced work ethic with entitlement, millenialls ain't got none of the GRIT my generation had. Y'all's is b***hin online bout y'all's problems insteada gettin them bootstraps pulled and walkin inta the Pepsi factory laaack I did. Y'alls don't know what y'all's opportunity is RIGHT in front y'all's faces.
Y'all don't think I was nervous putten them bottlecaps on them Pepsi bottles first day on the job?! Took me 2 gaad daamn fricken years to save up for my house! Spent a full $25k on mah's house. And y'all b***hen cus I be asking $800k.... fricken millenials man y'all need to learn to respect y'alls elders.
This' why my generation LOVES bringin in them hee-span-ics or however y'alls say it. Work for $3/hr, ain't b***hin, and make a damn good burrito! Fricken wish I ain't had them kids man!
I guess tiktok because I see a bunch of the stuff on it being viral when its boring and shit or just straight up stolen
I was never with it
my 'with-it'ness extends to seeing what wacky shit doja cat is posting on twitter
around 35 i could tell the herd have moved on. it was a good run, although probably started to happen around 28
